Tryptophan and Brain injury

Sometimes you take somthing that somehow your body knoes is helping it heal. in my case that is tryptophan. The firt 30 years of my life was a very stressful experiience, so stressful in fact that aI believe it injured my brain.

I believe tryptophan has really helped me and that i may be defficient in other neuro transmitters as well. My question is ...what other may help a brain taht has been totally butrned out from stress heal. Does 5 htp work with typtophan....I know they ar very similar. I am also taking vitamin E to help with the inflamaition that I am sure is present as well.

Look into stablon.

Has some promising effects on paper to reverse damage caused by long term stress.
I've tried it, works really well for me when taken right.

Also, sam-e would be beneficial

Thanks...I will look into those....

strangely, the stress is gone, I do not feel like there is any stress at all in my life. I am usually remrkably calm.....I sometimes feel like my brain is bruised however and am hoping t treat this as an injury.

I don't know from experience, but I've heard Sam-e can induce hyperactivity/anxiety.

My recommendation before taking anything of any kind would be to have a full comprehensive blood test. Thyroid panel, hormone panel, etc....check dopamine levels etc.

Sure sam-e usually causes initial anxiety when you start taking it.
This normally disappears after a week or two.

Not all people are ok with taking sam-e. It depends on methylation factors.

I would say the most important thing to test before supplementing with sam-e would be blood histamine levels and to figure out if you are an under or over methylator.

Sam-e is certainly a great way to boost neurotransmitter levels naturally when needed.

Had mixed results with Sam-e. Tryptophan, 5-HTP and p-5-p have done much better for me.

Also research:

ALCAR
ALCAR-arginate
lithium orotate
ashwagahnda
holy basil
Rhodiola
methyl folate

I'm glad that's illegal and hard to find because I would definitely get addicted to it. Me likes to sleep hard.

haha I don't know if you understand entirely what I meant....DMT is a crazy hallucinogen! Its the strongest/potent in the world, its a neurotranmitter that sends you into another world entirely where you encounter entities. It makes you sleep? lol

isnt 5 htp very similar to tryptophan...is taking both worthwhile?
Your body converts Tryptophan to 5HTP and 5HTP to 5HT (which is serotonin).

If you are already taking tryptopahn, you will not require 5HTP and vice versa.

While it is good to top up defficient levels of serotonin, you need to take care not to overshoot the optimal window.

ALCAR has never done anything for me, even with choline. I've tried ALCAR-arginate as well. Ashwagahnda and any other adaptogen has never had any obvious effect for me either. I've tried most nootropics out there, and find most have negligable effects.

Methyl folate I take to lower homocystein levels, since I am taking sam-e, and to also help utilize b-12. I also take methyl b-12 from time to time.

I currently take sam-e + P5P together and feel it has a nice boost on dopamine. I also cycle stablon when I can. I feel that sam-e helps me to respond better to other supps/drugs. Stablon works really well for me at 4-6 tabs per day.

I was thinking of "GHB" which I have heard is awesome but addictive. My bad.

Interesting concept in theory but unlikely. Your brain blood barrier is amazing resistant to forced changes and the bodies mechanisms of passive regulation would more than likely negate any kind of long term advantages. Recent studies have shown exercise (increase in circulation and 02 concentration into brain) has been shown to be one of the best (although far from preventative) for brain aging.
