I have checked into pricing of trt clinics, both online and near where I live. They are simply more money than I can afford. Can a person just go to their primary care physician and get labs done to see if they have low T, get a prescription and just be done with it? That seems SO much easier. It that not how it works? Thanks

From what I've seen very few gp's are willing to do that. Probably comes down to no training on the subject. Some do though so just go ask. Whatever route you go make sure you get your education first. Dont let a doc tell you something stupid like "you only need an a.i. if your growing breasts"....some of the stories people have shared are absurd. Go in with an open mind but know the facts and know what you want out of it.

At this point with the literal thousands of horror stories regarding HRT I have read, it seems like a truly good doc is as hard to find as a virgin whore.

Thanks for the advice. I want to stay away from ordering Test online, due to the possible legal issues. As well and not being 100% sure about accurate dosing and quality of what you are getting. Plus the wife said no online ordering... lol ( whipped, I know)

So give someone else a few $$ and have them order online for you....no lies and everyone gets what they want. Isnt that how marriage works?

So I've been down this road and here is how it works. Your primary care doctor can check your test levels to see if you have low T. Here is the kicker, insurance will not pay and he will not write a prescription unless you are below the normal range of the lab being used, usually labcorp. Last time I checked it 290-1100 ng/dl .below 290
Is really low, I was at 310at 32 years of age and insurance would not cover it so I went the anti aging clinic route. It's pricey but docs I have are pretty good.

Other issue is like stated above primary care docs don't have a clue about trt.

On TRT for the last 8 years and know many doctors in my area, so I can give you an idea.

The first question is, why do you think you need TRT. What are your symptoms? That is what any doctor is going to ask and you need to be honest with yourself because it is trendy to blame every little thing on low test.

The best place to start is your GP and see about a referral to a specialist. Better yet, if you have access to an integrative doctor in your area, start there. They are much more informed about gut health and other areas that impact test levels and can also prescribe medication as needed.

At minimum you want total test, free test, SHBG, LH, FSH, e2 (if possible), thyroid, and a CBC w/lipids. Start there and see how things come in and look to determine if there are any lifestyle improvements you can make to help.

I'd avoid the money making clinics at all costs. They typically have a cookie cutter protocol that will include an AI and HCG along with a higher than necessary amount of test and then end up having to correct things.

I have ALL the low T symptoms, low libido, no energy, poor attitude, mood swings. I can sleep for 12 hours, get up and start yawning and be ready for a nap after 30 minutes..... You are correct that I need to find out if in fact it is low T. I have never been diagnosed, but am pretty certain I have low T. Of course it all starts with lab work, and if it shows that it's not low T, then so be it. I am just starting to see what options are out there, before starting the process. Unfortunately as expensive as most clinics are, it may not matter what's wrong with me if I can't afford treatment. I did contact one online clinic that claims $119. a month, which I could do. Does anyone have any opinions or experience with them? I know I can't source check, but it should be obvious who they are.... lol

Pretty sure checking about clinics isn’t the same as sourcing. A decent amount of people on here use entourage. Some other boards have other clinics as sponsors. There is a decent amount of reviews on various clinics out there.

You can go to privatemdlabs.com and order the female hormone panel. It will give you your Test, estrogen levels as well as some other stuff. You can responsibly self administer TRT but it takes a lot of study and preparation....
Yes but I’ve found that this only tells you total T, not free and it is not a sensitive estrogen test so odds are it’s not accurate at all. It’s cheap but can give you a skewed idea of what’s actually going on in the body

You can add those sensitive tests to get a better understanding
