I started doing labs at 37 and trying things to bring my test levels up like increasing sleep quality, trying to remove stress, eating differently, taking natural supplements. I did this for 6-7 months and he asked if I wanted to try TRT, so I said yeah. It immediately made a difference, but I went to several endos as well while I was on TRT to get other opinions. Honestly, endos are a joke, IMO.
In the end, it is likely the stress in my life that adds to low test, aside from age, but it is always going to be there.

Thanks for the response! Your not the first person eho had negative comments about endos. So did u go with an anti aging clinic?
When first going on trt, what were the najor differences you notices both mentallly and physically? Since you have been on, has ur doc prescribed you anything in addition to just test?

I get constipated when guys come in right out of the gate on 200/week, an ai and hcg asking questions why they feel like crap.
I don't want to take an ai, and could care less about the size of my nuts. In all reality, my nuts are only slightly smaller, and that's only the first day or so after injection...

I started last year at an age of 42. Went to my doc for a physical and to discuss dick problems. She gave me some cialis but asked if I wouldn't mind doing bloodwork. I said sure. Really thought maybe my problems were of the mental nature. Of course I got the call from the nurse saying there was an issue with the bloodwork. Of course I went back thinking cancer or some sort of tumor (cuz thats how my mind works) and she said my test and free test were extremely low. Not knowing anything I said "well what the hell am I supposed to do with that info". She looked at me like I had five heads and said there were options.
I went home that day and on TV that night I saw so many low T, Axiron, Androgel commercials I almost shat myself. Yes, I know, they were always on but I never noticed them before. Kinda funny. Of course within weeks I felt a ton better and many of my issues cleared up that I thought were just do to aging.
My doc, a woman, is pretty cool. Didn't push expensive topicals and suggested self injecting.
I went home that day and on TV that night I saw so many low T, Axiron, Androgel commercials I almost shat myself. Yes, I know, they were always on but I never noticed them before. Kinda funny. Did she go over everything to make sure there were no pituitary issues, thyroid, etc, as well as lifestyle? See, it seems really cool and glamorous when you find a doc that is open to TRT (and it is, really) but you want to make sure they are being thorough and not putting a bandaid on. Granted, at 40+, it is likely you actually need it.

These are people that don't understand anything about TRT and the clinics are salivating over them because it is $$$$ in their pockets. Think how great it would be in 2,3,4,5....years down the road when you are needing all these prescriptions to stay normal, when you could just do it right and only take test. People just don't think logically about this subject sometimes.

She did a full work up at the time. I'm guessing she had her suspicions. I still find it bizarre that I had no AAS history or any sort of trauma (upstairs or downstairs) and I am secondary. I lead a fairly active lifestyle, eat relatively healthy, maintain a relatively healthy weight, do not use drugs or smoke, and only drink occasionally. All of this she is aware of. She made a comment something to the effect of "sometimes bad **** just happens and it is either genetically induced or cannot be explained. So I went home and yelled at my dad. Just kidding. Perhaps there is a slight ice cream fetish in my life but I work to hard in the gym to let that control me. Ice cream is pretty tasty though. Haha.
I do feel a little better that her diagnosis was spot on when my lower back no longer ached, I was not sleeping in a pool of my own sweat, my dick problems/libido got much better, my anxiety that kept me up at night went away, and other problems I attributed to mental or aging issues went away.
By no means is my doc (PCP) an expert. She did prescribe the injections because she thought a 5 minute shot every two weeks was easier than slathering on gel every day. I was started on the 200mg every other week protocol. Decided for myself on the 100mg every week and I do feel much better. The kicker is from my blood work I think my peak value is just as high on the 100mg as the 200mg. Don't know why but thats what it appears to be.
Kisaj - Dang you say 40+ like its old or something. Haha. I think of it like this my 43 yr old body + my 13 yr old mentality = 56. 56/2 = 28. So I call myself only 28 yrs old. Of course my comment to my wife about when shen turned 40 I was trading her in for two 20 yr olds didn't really work out all that well for me. Haha

I went to a place called the Low T Center in Denver, only after my PCP was unwilling to listen (and we fired him after that) or do anything.
I've not used an AI nor hcg, and I'm currently toying with dosage amount & timing.
One thing that I cannot stress enough; the physician works for YOU. YOU are a customer. Yes, their knowledge is vast, but they still need to help you achieve your goals, regardless whether they fit a physician's agenda. They help keep you healthy & safe, but ultimately YOU'RE the final authority.
My wife is a BSN schooling to be an APRN, and she has helped me come to this mindset. She's also a raging bitch, so the amount of shyt she'll take off a doc is exactly zero.
Take control of your health, men.

lol, if you knew me, age is about the only thing I never think about or use as an excuse. I just meant that when you are 40+ and have low test, the chances you actually need it are a lot higher than a 25 year old having low test.
You mean you didn't get that I meant all that by my simple comment? haha

Haha. Yeah, good times. I was sitting at a light the other day and had some Five Finger Death Punch turned up a little and thought when I'm 70 or 80 I'll still be listening to that type of music but at that point people will just think I am a deaf old man that doesn't even know the radio's on.

I started this past January at 40 yrs old. I had been feeling extremely tired, even after a full night's sleep i was struggling to function. There were depression, anxiety, and mental clarity issues as well. I had gained some weight and got out of shape in my late 30s, which I thought was the cause of my issues. I got back into the gym and lost 30 lbs, going from 225 to 190, but the symptoms didn't improve. I suspected Lymes disease and my dr ran a battery of tests. Lymes came back negative, but the tests showed very low total and free test as well as low lh, fsh, etc. My doc offered me the choice of the patch, gel, or self injects. I chose injects as I didn't want to affect my wife or 2 young boys. Been feeling great since starting treatment.

<35 should look for reason why levels are low if possible. If symptoms are bad enough <35 then I may suggest to dr to supplement to help with symptoms while looking further into other issues. Its case dependent. >35 high probability to supplement but then still look for other imbalances which will only complement HRT.
