Training after an cycle

Was wondering how you guys train after a cycle with your favorite compound to maintain the gains and minimize strength/muscle loss.

For example, try and keep lifting the same heavy weights or high intensity training with less weight? Train at the same days as usual or take a deload and train less?

Thanks!

Try and keep lifting the same weight/increase the weight to maintain your strength is what I've read. Progressive overload is one of the key factors in building muscle so I wouldn't reduce the weight on any of my compound exercises, save it for your "shaping" exercises and drop set such as cable flyes to flood the muscle with blood.

Thanks for your thought on this matter. I was just thinking that since strength loss ist inevitable, are you not putting yourself into too much stress trying to lift the same weights like you did on cycle and possibly breaking down too much muscle than can be build? I heared that low weight/high intensity (time under tention) is great for maintenance and also gives you a good amount of deload time.. but never tried it so im curious whats everyone doing off cycle.

You'll put the muscle under more stress using high reps, IMO heavy weights/low reps are better if you're main goal is preserving muscle during a cut or PCT. Lifting heavy weights sends a strong message to your body that it needs to keep as much muscle as possible.

I always lifted stupid heavy (put them newfound gainz to work) haha
But usually after cycle i keep the same routine but switch up a different muscle group every week just to keep your muscles on their toes and make it heavy!

On cycle frequency/load/volume is 3x per week for each muscle group.

Off cycle (first 4-6weeks) I bump these variables down to 2x per week for each muscle group.

Off cycle (next 4-6weeks) I bump down even further to 1x per week for each muscle group.

Back on cycle I just reverse the above order...

But when I was competing I never came off, I always bridged. That was for a good many "Years"... Lol
