Thyroid question for Dr. John

Dr. John - how do you feel about body temperature as an indicator of low thyroid? I've never had "abnormal" thyroid tests to my knowledge, but besides fatigue as a symptom, my body temperature ranges from 93.8 to 95.8. I've been monitoring it this week b/c I've been reading about it - actually for my wife's condition. I had one reading of 96.1 but that was immediately following a weight training workout. HRT has done wonders for me and "cured" every other symptom I had. But fatigue still bothers me in general and especially in streaks. Right now I'm in a fatigue streak and I've noticed my body temp is very low.

BTW, I take measurements with a digital ear thermometer. I take a several measurements and take the highest one. I've also taken measurements throughout the day.

Oh - it's also my understanding that hypothyroid can cause low HDL - is this true? My HDL has been low the past few years.

Here is a good link on taking your Temp and charting it I don't use a digital I use this.
