The Unofficial Ice Cream thread

Chocolate Shoppe Espresso Oreo

If you are a coffee lover, and want a nice twist on cookies and cream look no further. Chocolate Shoppe offers a fantastic lighter blonde roast in ice cream form. Combine the milkiness of the base with a rich flavoring and you have an incredible combination for a kickass coffee base. The Oreo Mix-ins are as expected from Chocolate Shoppe. Dense in texture, nice crunchy taste, and provide tasty compliment to the espresso base. Since this may not be found in many grocery stores you will probably have to order offline to grab this one, but it is worth every single penny. I would have to rank this my favorite coffee ice cream shortly behind Jeni's Black Cat Espresso and Cafe Au Lait & Beignets from New Orleans Ice Cream Company.

Grade: A+

Had that Simmos pint yesterday TheSolution man was amazing had real cotton candy/ fairy floss through it with light strawberry/bubble gum kind of goo in the middle

I don't know, it could of have been a promo pick or a pic from someone else... You only post a gazillion!

I would have expected you to write something about taste given you typically write detailed reviews...

You do realize that is Winston's house correct? you were only there at the arnold bud :)

same background same place.

Great Chocolate Cookie, Dense in flavor similar to the chocolate ice cram + a good mint filling similar to NO ice cream mint chocolate cookie but not as sweet its bolder in flavor.

Very busy this weekend weekend traveling, training, meeting up with people and friends in columbus (matt pearson whom you may know as one.), helping winston Pose, traveling to his show, show day all day tomorrow, and meeting up with friends after.

I remember being there, but a little hard to pick up on the background...Sounds amazing!

Steve's:
Whoopie Pie & Sweet Cream
Blackberry Crisp

7-11: (Read very high review's on these)
Banana Cream Pie
S'mores
Sea Salt Caramel Truffle
Fudge Marshmallow

Talenti Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough Gelato

Overall my high hopes were shattered with the amount of correct reviews on this product. I would have to rank this down the line of the new Talenti flavors offered due to the lack of mix-ins, the weak swirl, and a very original vanilla base. If Talenti decided to up the amount of mix-ins like their Sea Salt Caramel, and use a better swirl like found in Southern Butter Pecan this may be a hit. Overall I was digging for Cookie dough and a good swirl, but found not much of either. Stick to Hazelnut Chocolate Chip & Salted Peanut Caramel in the new flavors if you are looking for a better offering.

As a part of a 24 hour food challenge I did with mkretz we hit up Antoinette's in Buffalo

Scoop of Buttercrunch & scoop of PB ice creams with butterscotch & caramel sauce, pecans and whipped cream

Romolo's Chocolate Sponge Candy ice Cream

Overall this was a hit from first bite to the last bit of ice cream at the bottom of the pint. Romolo's famous Sponge Candy infused into a well executed vanilla ice cream base was done right. If you have never tried sponge candy it is a must to try. Chocolate that melts in your mouth with a nice crunchy center. This pint did not lack sponge candy mix-ins, and they were heavy throughout the pint in good portions. It started to remind me of eating Graeter's Chocolate chips, but much softer in nature.

Breyers blasts! chocolate Oreo and some Kroger pb chip mates.

You wouldn't think the Kroger cereal would be all that good but man, it is. It's cookie crisp except the cookies are peanut butter choc chip. Amazing. Literally the best $1.88 I've ever spent.

The Breyers is pretty solid too. Nothing spectacular as far as the chocolate base but there's a ton of Oreos and big pieces to boot. Cheap, lower cal, and very enjoyable.

Dam Mirin that oreo ice cream hard

Next time I can find it I'm prob gonna try the golden Oreo version with whatever the lighter base is. Should be even better as I like the golden Oreos more. Either that or the Girl Scout thin mint or Samoa versions.

Kroger branded products are pretty good in my limited experience...

Nestle Canada makes an Oreo Ice Cream in Canada too and has a Birthday Cake and Mint version of it (1.5L & sandwiches). I may just try the Bday cake sandwiches soon...

Golden oreo Birthday Cake = HNNGGG

Buddy Cracked open Cincinnati Pig Tracks from Graeters, said it was Awesome, Tons of fudge and the PB cups are small (fudge pieces are similar to the Chocolate Chips. Massive in size and plenty. Regualr Vanilla Bean tasting base, said it does not top Buckeye Blitz tho

Invalid Link Removed

Typical graeters, loaded with mixins. A- because it's not buckeye blitz. Cups are decent but not reese. Fudge is different from typical chocolate chunks, less waxy and richer. Probably worth ordering if you have spare money and love good ice cream.

Just noticed the Thread!
Hope it's not considered spam, just want to let you know that this year I've launched my new brand, Yulty!
Just take a look on Facebook or Instagram, it's very new but we're getting great feedback from customers :)
Currently it's available just in Italy but I hope to bring it in the US asap!

It's not just a protein ice cream, it's an Italian hand made Gelato.. Just to give you an idea, if you ever tried Grom it's the same quality with much better nutrition values :)

Interesting, but if you're selling in Italy none of the regular posters in this thread will have access...
Bring it to North America and hook us up with samples to review ;)

I tried the Graeter's Cinnamon cheese crown and I was bit disappointed. I mean it was good but I thought it was going to be better based on the Powered by IC review.
1) the base was mediocre, it's a stretch to say it tastes like cheesecake. More of a faint cream cheese flavour.
2) Mix-ins were decent but not massive chunks like the chip series
3) It doesn't really taste like cinnamon toast crunch

For now I don't really trust Powered by Ice cream reviews ... Maybe our taste buds are different lol

If it were cinnamon toast crunch that is what they would label it like Dave and Andy's does in Pittsburgh

Nothing tops the chips that is in their signature besides the Oreos in CNC ;)

Cheesecake is made from cream cheese that is the base hence why it probably tastes like that. We both know their flavors are not overly sweet more dense/bold in flavor.

I am more disagreeing with the Powered by Ice Cream review who compared it to a cheesecake base with mix-ins that taste like CTC. It was good but just not taste like his description...

I know, this brand is born just this year.. We're pretty lucky we already got attention of Virgin Active and started a collaboration with their gyms :)

Just like that chick who rated cotton candy from walmart an A on her first review
Can't win them all.
Most of the time i agree with PPI, me and him have very similar tastes.

Yup, that is why I wrote "maybe our taste buds are different" above

Not all that much tbh. A good selection of Talenti and Steve's, but that's about it. Could be worse I guess!

What flavors?

Talenti:
Sea Salt caramel
Choc PB Cup
Southern Buttern Pecan
Hazelnut Chocolate Chip
Salted Peanut caramel

Tiramisu is not bad, Caramel Apple, Fudge Brownie are also decent.

Steve's:
Salty Caramel
Banana Pudding
Coffee Cinnamon (if you dig coffee)
Sunday Morning
Whoppie Pie and Blackberry Crisp i have in my freezer.

was not a fan of Blkyn Blackout (thought it was medicore)

Did you try the Talenti Oatmeal Raisin Cookie?

Did you try the Talenti Oatmeal Raisin Cookie?

I just cracked it last weekend. I like it but it's incredibly sweet. Prob would be hard to eat a whole pint at once by itself. That said, I would def buy it again.

I had it, didn't care for it. SSC on all other flavors of talenti I've tried so far

Thanks, I have only tried one flavour (caramel cookie crunch) and granted it did not receive high reviews (you know The Solution blasted me after I bought for not checking lol) I never got excited for any other flavours. I would scoop the pumpkin if I see it though lol.

When I am in the US buying ice creams, which seems to be quite often lately ha, I always bypass Talenti for Graeters, GF, CoolHaus, BnJ etc
I also ordered some New Orleans & Chocolate Shoppe flavours from ICS with a buddy. NO bases are solid, but mix-in qty and quality are hit or miss so far...

I've only tried two of the NO ice creams. The cream cheese one I liked A LOT. Tried the Mardi Gras pie and it was mediocre.

I have tried the Mardi Gras & Mississippi Debris ... I thought the marshmallow base in Mardi Gras was outstanding but lack of mix-ins was a let down. The chocolate base in Mississippi Debris was also good and it had a lot of mix-ins but it was mostly chocolate & marshmallow pieces whereas I would have liked more malt balls & cherry pieces.
