The PR Thread

Haha. I actually ment it the other way around sorry

It's not bad either way. Your numbers are pretty solid for your age, and I'm sure they'll continue to grow with experience. Learn as much as you can about technique now to minimize injury and improve at the best possible rate.

Yep that's what I've been doing. I've been lifting and researching since the seventh grade and I'm a junior now(my parents held me back when I was in preschool. That's why I am an 18 year old junior), and I still got a lot to learn!

Hit 325 bench today. All time PR for me after being stuck at 315 for quite some time now.

30 x6 weighted pull ups. 165 bench with chains and thick bar.

Calories have also increased to 4,050. More prs to come!

congrats man!! what kinda of programing are you under?
If thats to me, I just recently started doing Jonnie Candito's 6 week strength program. Maxes have gone up after both cycles (finishing my 2nd cycle through right now.) Seems to be working well. Prior to that i was doing 5/31 for 2 years.

Yeah it was to you haha, but i hear A LOT of good things about canditos programming, i might switch after my meet, right now I'm running DUP. but again good press

Yeah i am unsure how much of the squat progress i am making is from this program or the fact my lower back seems to be finally back to pre injury status. Either way, if i keep making prs in every lift every 6 weeks I am going to keep running it lol. Its definitely worth a consideration if you are thinking about trying a new program after your meet (which, good luck to you brother). I have yet to dabble in competitions, but I am starting to get much more serious about the idea.

Anyway, back to PRs for all!

New bench press PR of 240 for this old man! Woohooo!

Rep PR's this week:

Bench, 225x9

DL, 390x4

last night did 315x5, 335x3, then 265x2. followed it up with deads at 385x5, 435x5x 455x3, 475x2.

never repped above 335 on squats either. i did other fluff stuff too and some pressing to hit my whole body. lots of volume at much higher percentages than i normally do. i guess the gain in my body weight is paying off. ;)

Few months back couldn't even do one, one-armed chin up. Got a pull up bar for my house and am practicing grease the groove for the last three weeks. Got 5 one-armed pull ups at 210 bw

whaaaaaaaat!!!! Dam lil fella good digits
Thanks man. Not even sure where that 315x12 came from. I had a good song on and pounded away, felt like it was light! Probably doing a PL meet once I can get to under 200, which will be soon!

lemme know man... I'll check dat shît out wit ya!!

After months of one step forward three steps back (most likely due to the amount of hockey I play this his time of year) I finally squatted 6 plates. I've been struggling to get my squats past 265 for what seems like forever. Today I did a set 8 x 265 and felt good enough to do 2 x 315. It's quite the jump but I felt really good today. I'll take it.

And the day after hitting a squat PR I hit a Deadlift PR of 415. Locked it out twice and racked it. Needless to say my legs are fried today.

i have been doing a dan john high frequency program. end of week 2 was last night. it was 6 singles of my exercises. due to a shoulder injury i only did squats and deadlifts. my 6th set of squats i hit a 10lbs PR at 415. after that went up to a 5lbs gym PR on deads with 505. tried 535 and i was just to tired to lock it out.

Volume PR today on squats.

warm up sets of 10 @ 135, 225, 315, then
15 @ 405 R/P
2 @ 495
20 @ 315

67 total

Followed by incline BB PR
285 x 4 (never got more than 2)

315x2
335x1
Deads

I finally kind of have something to say in this thread

402 bench to a 2-board in a bench shirt. Maybe probably with spotter help lol.

Good lord. You are a freaking beast- in a very feminine way of course.

Thank you! I was trying to calm myself down the whole time. :)

You need to start thinking about competing puccah. That's a pretty solid raw number. What's your BW these days?

Thank you! I'm really contemplating it. I'm a big girl these days, hovering around 180-182.

I think you should, and that's not big. With a little work, I think you'd do well at 165...

Thank you, Napalm! I may have to get down to about 145-150 if I want to fight. My teacher said that it'll be hard to find someone my size to fight.

then make it happen. When does the "puccah gets into fighting shape" thread start?

Yes!

I'll start it up soon, I've been a little busy with work and school. It'll be awesome to be at 145-150 in the Academy. I guess I'll be preparing for more than just Muay Thai. :D
