I want to bring some medicines/dietary supplements/herbal preparations into Australia through the mail from overseas - what restrictions are there?

You may bring a 3 month supply (at the maximum dose recommended by the manufacturer) of unapproved medicines into Australia in any one importation without any approval required by the TGA provided that:

the goods are for the use in the treatment of the importer or their immediate family; and
you do not supply (sell or give) the medicine to any other person; and
the goods do not contain a controlled substance (see: Import & export of controlled substances Invalid Link Removed and
the goods are not injections that contain material of human or animal origin (except insulin); and
the total quantity of the medicine imported within a 12 month period does not exceed 15 months supply of the drug (at the maximum dose recommended by the manufacturer); and
if the goods are in Schedule 4 or 8 of the Standard for the Uniform Scheduling of Drug and Poisons a prescription from a registered medical practitioner is held for the goods. Invalid Link Removed

To establish if the goods are subject to the Customs legislation you need to know what are the ingredients in the product. You can then look up the controlled substances which require import licences/permits. Each State and Territory of Australia also has its own Poison and Drugs legislative controls (see: Import & export of controlled substances

You should also check these requirements before importing these types of goods. An import permit will not be issued for substances in Schedule 4 or Schedule 8 of the Standard for the Uniform Scheduling of Drugs and Poisons unless a prescription from a registered doctor in Australia has been submitted to the Treaties and Compliance Section, Office of Chemical Safety, Australian Government Department of Health and Ageing.

Can I get more than a 3 month supply at a time?

If you need a larger quantity than specified above, your doctor will need to apply to the Special Access Scheme (02 6232 8111) for an exemption under Section 19 of the Therapeutic Goods Act for the importation of unapproved goods.

3 month supply can be either manufacturer's maximum recommended dosage or you can just sign a statutory declaration yourself saying that it is meant to be used within 3 months

Can I get access to medicines containing controlled substances which are not approved in Australia?

Your Doctor should contact the Special Access Scheme (02 6232 8111) for details on the supply of unapproved medicines in Australia. If an exemption is granted through the Special Access Scheme the Doctor or Pharmacist will then need to request an import licence/permit through the Office of Chemical Safety Invalid Link Removed

Why do some substances require import or export licences/permits to bring them into or out of Australia?

Australia is a signatory to three International Drug Conventions which aim to limit the use of certain drugs and chemicals for medical and scientific purposes. They lay down a code of legislative practice and administration which assists governments to work together to prevent drug abuse and its harmful consequences. Substances included in these Conventions (eg narcotics, psychotropics, precursors) are included in the Customs (Prohibited Imports) Regulations and the Customs (Prohibited Exports) Regulations. Some substances which are not covered by the International Conventions but are of sufficient health concern in Australia to warrant controls are also included in these Regulations (eg anabolic steroids).

Where do I get a request form for an import licence/ permit and how long does it take to process?

Request forms for substances in Schedule 4 or Schedule 8, item 3C (anabolic androgenic steroids) of the Customs (Prohibited Imports) Regulations may be obtained from the Office of Chemical Safety Invalid Link Removed, Australian Government Department of Health and Ageing.


Is there any charge for an import or export licence/permit?

No.

What is the difference between a licence and a permit?

The importation of substances in Schedule 4 of the Customs (Prohibited Imports) Regulations requires the importer to hold an annual import licence plus an import permit for each separate consignment imported. The importation of substances in Schedule 8 of the Regulations requires only an import permit.

Why are some substances available without a prescription overseas but are controlled substances in Australia?

Each country has its own rules and regulations regarding what controls there are on particular substances. Countries, which are signatories to the international drug treaties, will generally have similar requirements for narcotic and psychotropic substances. However, there can be a vast difference in the way in which anabolic/androgenic steroids are regulated.

The substances listed below are not controlled substances in some countries (eg USA) and are widely available in dietary supplement preparations.

DHEA (Dehydroepiandrosterone)
Norandrostenedione
Ephedra (ma huang)
Ephedrine
However, under the Customs legislation in Australia, these substances are classified as either anabolic steroids or precursors and are prohibited imports unless an import permit has been obtained.

Anyone ordering herbal or dietary supplements from the USA should check that the product does not contain a controlled substance.

Where such preparations are identified by Customs as prohibited imports, the goods will be seized. Import permits cannot be issued retrospectively and the goods may be destroyed by Customs.

FedEx act as their own 'Customs'. Items may be returned by FedEx, which are in fact OK by Australian Customs standards.

FedEx should only be chosen when speed of delivery is important, and the item is 'safe' by FedEx standards.

Side Note

1. Do not be stupid, check the import list! Once pointed out by CUB that they will ONLY confiscate stuff that has the EXACT same chemical brake down as written on the site, so it's 4a instead of 3a it WILL make it through!

2. Do not order from doggy countries, I.E. China, Thailand anywhere South of USA(Central America/South America).

3. Do not ask as i do not know on how to get anything bar what NP sells! No steroid or research peptide talk!

4. No mentioning of DHEA, It IS banned in Australia!

5. If you do decide to order something in the grey area, make sure you order only that certain item, as small packages = less chance of you getting inspected!

6. I've received 5 letters of seizure MYSELF! No cops raiding my house! Also in December 2010 last year i ordered M-Drol was inspected and got through! Therefore there is NO blacklist addresses!

Australian Customs are ramping up inspects of sub 1000.00 imports. Now when you buy something from overseas, if its valued under 1000.00AUD it dosent have to customs entered (and GST applied) but the importing agent (such as Auspost or Fedex or USPS etc) have to notify customs of the import. This allows customs to measure the value of imports, (for policy change, or GDP calculations etc) and also capture any revenue they might be missing by undeclared values. At the moment, they randomly check 1 in 1000 per port, and the check process is fairly relaxed. From 1 Feb on, they will be inspecting up to 1 in 20 imports, and will require the importing agent to present a copy of a invoice and receipt for the goods. This means that for those imports called for inspection, the buyer (you) will have to provide the importing agent (Auspost Fedex etc) with that paperwork. This will cause fairly hefty delays, and you they will start to look for split parcels, "gifts", etc much more. Fedex have advised shippers in the USA to stop sending to Australia until they get a better idea of what all of this might mean.
 
^^^^I wonder if thats all about the big cry Gerry Harvey and all the other filthy retail millionaires had about lost internet sales? I am sure once its teethed out it will be business as usual. Has anyone actually ordered more that $1000 of sups? No way that could be for personal use.

I use to import other stuff and went through a customs broker ... I still never paid GST or import tax.

It does seem a little sus as the Government have been rejecting the retail requests by claiming it would cost more to police GST for under $1000 orders than revenue it would make. Yet this claims they will police/check but not seek to introduce gst for sub $1000 ... Sounds a bit strange to me. If they are going to go to that effort they might as well make 10% as its better than nothing. I also remember reading about customs not that long ago cutting back staff ... Would be nice to hear more from Rex on this one.

In saying this I note that NTBM Forma Stanozol lists Formestane as an ingredient where as Primordial Performance Formestane lists it as '4-hydroxyandrostene-3, 17-dione' which I reckon is less likely to get through.

Most sellers include an invoice anyways.

Simple = include paypal invoice.

If customs believe product is valued more than $1000, they will request a copy of your credit card statement, which they have done to me in the past. I thought it was a little harsh and an invasion.

Aussies order alot from overseas, but u can hardly blame us when the retail market here is a total rip off.

I was thinking the same thing if you look at your Nutra orders it states clear as day what the cost of the product was on the box.

That was nasty of customs, they must have thought you were pulling a swifty on them. Was that for sups or something else? I read they also have the power to re evaluate the cost of your product if they want but I would think they would only do that for products in the 100s of 1000S.

What about LG natadrol? I bought 2 bottles yesterday....i figured they would get through. However, formadrolhas an ingredient that gets rejected...so i didnt bother with that. I think i'll just use alri restore instead.

A lot of people have got natadrol in so you should be sweet. I got my first bottle of formadrol in an Australian store for about $120 then order two more bottles for a lot less and got it in I think the ingredients has changed since then. Restore also seems to get in and works well.

It was for a Denon CD mixer. So understandable. Still the whole CC thing is a bit unfair.
 
Anyone had a package shipped with DHL from Nutra lately? A**holes are trying to sting me $50 for a "quarantine processing fee".

Ordered express postage, was expecting it to be USPS.

No way I'm paying $50 on top of $72 shipping.

DHL do this all the time. If you don't pay and never use them again you will probably never hear from them again. Never use DHL. I didn't know Nutra used them ... from memory they claim it is a processing fee getting it through customs or something like that ... its a load of BS. Chances are if you read the fine print when you make the order it says you could be charged this too :(

Yeah, found a comment or two about them pulling the same cr*p on the last customs thread.

Didn't use them by choice, I was expecting USPS.

On the back of the invoice it says, and I quote "In the interest of faster service, DHL has paid the government charges to Australian Customs on your behalf".

Are these the charges that I've never paid before in at least 10yrs of shipping supps into Australia? Hahaha.... not that stupid.

You should write to them and formally ask them for an invoice and or receipt from Australian Customs after which you will remit the payment to them ... bet they don't produce $hit! I've been having a bad few weeks so am a bit ... I can't believe how many people would rather make a dishonest $ ripping somebody off over working for their money I am starting to become a true hatter :(

I'm wanting to order the following from NP, will these make it pass customs?

I'm planning on ordering.
6x GHenerate - LG Sciences
2x IGH-1 - LG Sciences
1x Anadraulic State GT - LG Sciences
1x Postal - LG Sciences
Will these make it pass customs?

I see ASGT on the "Non-Hormonal Supplements", does this mean these are the non hormonal suppplements that wont make it pass customs?
So Andraulic state gt WONT make it into Aus?
What the other supplements :)?

They will ALL make it!
Non-Hormonal Supplement's section are the once that people have tried importing and have had success!
I've personally imported GHenerate - LG Sciences, IGH-1 - LG Sciences and others will be fine!
 
People tried animal products lately Ive been told they get seized due to the name 'animal' what about thermolife e-Bol and orange triad to australia

Unless we find those people? and they give me some proof this is all hear and say. So i'm going to tell you now that the "sky is RED", go post that in some thread!

Feel free to post your people say, people thoughts, ect. bulls**t somewhere else, preferably the previous thread were the bulls**t is still continuing with people and there bulls**t hear and say. Next time all these type of messages will be removed, as stated in the very first few posts.

Thread is updated and fresh. I personally watch over this process, i get inbox messages from users updating me. Don't believe it? Go and get ripped off, in the other thread i couldn't really care about the skeptics anyway!

Also, i will be neg repping the next person who post bs on my thread! I'm leaving this message up to show any reader that i am still looking after my thread!

I munch on Animal Flex like you wouldn't believe and I order it time and time again from Nutra (I will be ordering another 4-5 cans in a few days) never had an issue and it always gets inspected due to the size of the box. I also use to eat orange triad like it was candy before my joints got worse and had to move on to Animal Animal flex.

So from my real world personal experience those two are a safe bet if you stay under 3 months supply. I don't know squat about e-bol but if Akula says its good its good. So order your stuff bro and enjoy the cheaper prices than what we pay here.
 
I've been 100% lucky with all my orders for a while got some mad/bad stuff delivered a day or two before xmas :) ... sometimes its all about the timing ha ha.

$hit thing tho I got a pre gyno lump and it hurts like hell. What makes it worse is I haven't actually used anything besides my Dr prescribed test ... go figure :frustrate: at least now I will end up with a pharmacy serm on hand for my next run. Even tho it wasn't a cycle that caused it it has sure changed my view on the importance of proper PCT.

What did you lose on the last one ... don't say if it wasn't a "supplement"

listed as non hormonal, I hear it is hormonal
what's the scoop on that one.?

Wasnt it quoted or stated at the start of this thread that you don't get red flagged or black listed by customs after getting a seizure notice ?!?

this was from another they have actually stopped Australians buying animal products this was the reason given to me by support and members of the site that is why I was asking a simple question.... No need to get angry at a brother lol
 
You order 4-5 at a time? I'm thinking of doing a big order of random supps I want to try about 500-750 do you have a good chance of getting it in. What multi do you rate better orange triad or animal pak... I've tried back felt great on it but that 11 pills was brutal
