Finally got a chance to try out Intra-MD EAA+

Taste

Orange Carnage - Even though it is labeled no artificial sweetners there is sucralose labeled as the sweetener. The orange carnage was a small hint of an orange creamsicle in taste. No artificial flavoring or aftertaste in this product, but that may vary depending on how little or how much water the individual uses to sweeten or water down the flavor. Overall this was fantastic and is very light on the stomach.

Slaughtermelon – The melon taste is small right away, but provides a very long lasting and delicious aftertaste. The melon is not overpowering, but just enough to leave you satisfied. This makes, as a very refreshing drink for peri-workout needs. I am not a huge melon fan, but with it being on the lighter side it is a flavor that will grow on me.

Mixability

I did 1 scoop in around 10-12oz of water because each scoop is 22g in size. It is pretty big and if you ever venture to John meadows youtube channel about his intra-workout nutrition he always suggests or advocates using more water due to the amount of ingredients and extra goodies in the product. I had a fear this would be too strong in flavor, but this was a pretty good sweet spot for me personally.

Formula

This is where MD (Mountain Dog) took over and did the formula himself. He took his Intra-MD (popular Intra-workout beverage) and made it carb free.

The Two new additions to Intra-MD EAA+ are Glycerol (at 4.5g) and Theacrine Powder (50mg)

Glycerol supports intramuscular and cellular hydration. It has been established that muscle cell volumization and swelling can trigger protein synthesis. Glycerol is also a great asset to longlasting pumps.

Theacrine increases energy, focus, motivation, and exercise endurance. Teacrine also functions as an antioxidant, which in turn promotes faster recovery and improved immune system function.

Flavoring is done with surcralose and no artificial coloring which will help prevent bloat in some individuals.

2.5g of CM (Citrulline Malate), which helps prevent lactic acid, build up, provide nice pumps during a workout. This was bumped up from 2g in Intra-MD

Electrolytes, which can help provide a benefit in endurance and performance during training.

Glutamine was reduced from 1g to 300mg in the new EAA+ formula.

John and Prime also have 3g Leucine and a good dose of EAA’s each serving which are beneficial for fasted training (which I usually do). Leucine at 3g is a key activator or mTOR and master-controller for muscle protein synthesis.

Overall a great formula, and something I know john would do very well in scripting with prime Nutrition.

Cost

$44.99 on the main website for Prime, but most retailers will offer it around 35-40$ a tub. The launch also provided a B1G1 50% off sale which could be stacked with a coupon code. You could of easily picked up a tub for around 25$ with the code + intro promotion. This Intra-workout is full of EAA’s (which are shown to be superior for intra-workout). Their Is 2.5g of CM (which aid pump and lactic acid build up which is great for intra-workout). Next the inclusion of electrolytes for increased performance, and glutamine to aid digestion. Lastly the two new additional ingredients of glycerol and theacrine. These provide pumps, performance, focus, and antioxidant properties. You get what you pay for, this is a good formula, great tasting product, and should be a consideration for those who like to train fasted upon waking or train with a very high intensity or volume, the extra carbs would aid in optimal performance around and during a workout.

Workout performance
Dosing the Intra-MD EAA+ now for a couple workouts I would take a BCAA product pre-workout (due to training fasted) and then use the EAA+ Intra-MD intra-workout and sip it from the start of my workout throughout my workout. If I were to train in a fed state I would skip the BCAA Pre and use just the Intra-MD EAA+.
A few things I did note right away
- Increased Pumps
- Less Soreness
- Faster Recovery and better focus
Typically I train with a varied Frequency, different intensity techniques, different mesocycles ever 4-6 weeks (Austin Stout of Team Integrated Muscle and Health LLC does my training) and they are very good friends of John Meadows. Utilizing some of John’s Principles into what Austin scripts for me is brutal: supersets, tri-sets, and giant sets, with massive drop sets, rest pause sets, forced negatives, iso-tension and other factors were utilized over the few workouts I did have on the Intra MD EAA+ and noticed an increased recovery, I noticed a bit less DOMS/Soreness, and also an increase in performance with less rest between sets.
Overall I am pleased with the MD EAA+, not to mention it is a very reasonably priced EAA product with a fantastic profile.

I get sick, rock-hard pumps with 4.5g of HydroMax. Pissing all the retained water afterwards is fun too. I found a cheap source of bulk powder, time to get some.

If you ever watch John's review on Intra-MD EAA+ he even stated he tried upward to 20g of Glycerol.
That is one sick bastard haha

Chocolate coffee sounds like a good flavor too. Interesting it's a powder form as most test products are pills. Test powder being the one exception I can think of

I like that OL isn't afraid of putting out powdered supplements; sometimes you can only fit so much in a reasonable amount of capsules/pills. TR1UMPH never would have worked in caps, but is great as a powder.

Exactly. Rather than cutting back on effective doses we work our magic and make them happen as a powder (even if it costs us more).
 
This product is not 'delicious' by any means. We flavored it chocolate so you could mix it with a chocolate whey protein shake to mask the herbal ingredients. The formula will be immaculate though, hitting every pathway you can think of and then some. We are initially launching it as a limited edition through the website direct so people can pick it up at a reasonable price as the cost of producing this formula is more than retail on comparable products in that category

That is really true. A good tasting powder= easier to get bigger and more sexy doses :D

It was designed to be easily added to standard protein flavors like vanilla, chocolate, etc.

But how many flavored products do people really like in one day?

For me its a huge downside - I like a decent flavoured
Pre and one other product at most. Otherwise it just gets a bit much lol.

I do like the fact its not fruit flavoured or tropical flavoured - mixing with a protein is a bonus

I'm used to taking a ton of unflavored powders (including some herbal extracts which are pretty bad, haha), but I'd rather have something that works well than something that tastes good or is capped (if it's one or the other).

I guess it all depends on how well different flavored supplements mix with each other.

capping is more expensive than raw powders is it not?
maybe you are referring to flavoring the powder costing more than unflavored?

There is only a certain limit of powder you can fit into caps and the amount of caps people are willing to take. SUP3R PCT is a 10 cap serving size, no one wants to take 20, and we don't want to hinder the formula because of this. We'd rather find a different way to apply it such as making it a powder that you can drink with your whey protein.

Flavouring is more expensive than caps. But you can still have a very effective capped formula. You just wouldnt use many gram ingredients to keep cap size/ number down.

Flavoring, packaging + shipping/transit all increase with larger heavier bottles. This will be direct on our site for a limited run. In typical OL fashion I'm sure we'll be running a killer deal and will help in some way with shipping....meaning we will likely eat a decent amount of the costs.

I'm not running the financials or anything, so I should have clarified that my comment was a general observation that OL will put quality before cutting costs.

I do like that idea. Because people often already mix fat burners and aminos and pre workouts and noot formulas and carb powders and performance aids.

At least this time its a potential mix in with protein!
