TGR's Modified PowerBuilding v2.0

Or... What's your PR for 135lbs deads for 5 mins? Can you match it in the next 5?
Maybe just have fun with the weights and game yourself.

Wrist wrapping the ankle will do wonders if it becomes an issue. You'll be fine. I've wrist wrapped a knee before with an open knee cap, oly style to get a final set or 2 in. A little pressure and support can make all the difference and let you keep training.

Lol. Maybe one day. Really though, 135 feels awkward on DLs. It's too light to get proper leverage with.

I'll give it a go then.

Heal up!

Tips for deadlifting with hexagonal plates?

If you have bumpers put one on the inside. They are just slightly big enough. If not, get used to the bounce from hitting a hex point and resetting your feet.

This one baffles me. If you know anything about lifting, why on earth get hex plates?

Feeling good to go. Gonna wrap the heel just in case.

Despite the fail everything felt good. I felt really strong today. 495 moved faster than ever and I got 540 further than last time.

You'll get it soon man, as fast as 495 moved im surprised you didn't get it

Yeah, looks like left knee gave a little. You've got it next time!

Nice work dude. That 540 rolled way out away from you, think that may have thrown you off. The other pulls looked quick.

Just went back and watched the 495 vs 540 and I agree with you guys on the roll. The roll away from you on the 540 was much more pronounced than 495 reg.

Edit: although, it doesnt look like the plates on your right side roll hardly at all. Dunno if you didnt line up evenly under the bar or if it has something to do with your left hand being your underhand causing a twisting motion and therefore causing the plates on the left side to roll like that. I remember reading an article (online somewhere) about how the mixed grip can cause some rotation. Might be part of the issue.

And i cant find the place that i read that anywhere so take what i just said with a grain of salt.

It definitely can, especially if you haven't been practicing it much. If I hook grip the entire way up and switch to over/under on a top set it's very awkward. I have to either add straps or start the over/under a set or 2 before top sets.

You guys are right, and in not certain why I roll there. I do know there is a dip in the floor on that side (probably from me deadlifting there) and I constantly have to move the barbell in line when it rolls. Maybe I should let it start in that hole. Thanks guys

I knew i wasnt crazy. I was looking for the article online for like a half hour and couldnt find it.

I read before that people have grip issues because of inward rotation of the under hand grip at heavier weights, and that consciously forcing the wrist outward helps with this. I'll look into the Rubish article though. I'm also going to start deadlifting in a new spot if I can find room elsewhere. I may have put divots in the floors.

There was a thingy at kiddos school tonight. Hopefully I'll get to bed soon and get up for the gym tomorrow. Have to work 7-5, 9p-12, then Saturday 7-4. They're cutting into my sleep again.

I've read something by Ed Coan talking about the fact that the pinky is usually the first to go, so if you can strengthen that your odds of keeping the hand closed improve dramatically. He was talking about getting paper clips from office max and squeezing them between thumb and pinky to build the pinky up (dead serious).

Also, got a log up if anyone is interested to follow along!

Seems like I've been behind for two weeks. This is the last week for overtime, so I'll slightly be back on track in a couple days. Headed home now to get a quick nap before coming back at 9:30. I'll try and check in some tomorrow. Kill it guys and gals.

Taking a nap. In awesome news, i got my bat hangs band in today.

* = standard front squat grip. Holy ****, I can't believe I have the mobility for it. Only thing in the way is my right wrist and knuckles, all of which hurt like hell from all my breaks. Gotta stay at it though.

Yay, PR!

This week things should start to go back to normal and I'll be in here more. Can't wait to catch up on your logs.

PR King! Heavy arse front squats! Congratulations!

Nice work bro... you should rename this thread.... PR's...

I should name the thread after the contributors. The PRs are a result of what I've learned here, by you guys.

PR King! Heavy arse front squats! Congratulations!

Like always, it's never heavy enough. Moving up feels good. Thanks Mark.

Nice fronts! Glad to see you're progressing on them

Thanks Ian. The mobility has me more excited than the PR. I really thought I was incapable.

The race to 405 is still on...

Let's see 315 first. I have no doubt I'll see a 405 FS eventually.

Crazy Front Squat weights buddy!
Wow!!

How did I miss this?? 300 plus on Fronts is awesome! Congrats on a big milestone in my opinion. Has to be because of the "overtime" you put in...

The only positive of having to work so much recently was the rest my body received. I'm hoping it shows on back squat singles, too. Thanks Brian.

Turff giving you incline lessons! Nice job! I really hate the OHP as it's been my hardest lift to add weight to!

Thanks guys!

Kiddo turned 14 today. He forced me to eat a million calories.

So what you are saying is tomorrow you thank Kiddo for all the PR's!

Happy Birthday to him..

I'm taking my kiddo football off day on the front end instead of tomorrow. I still have my leftovers, so yeah, PRs tomorrow!

Sheesh!!! You're just pounding away in here! Now I remember why I don't make it in here! You make me feel like a wuss! Those front squats are super strong!!!

Kiddos team fell 30-8. Was only 7-0 with 6 left in the 4th. It's going to be a rough year.

Ouch! That is rough! What grade is he in now?
