TGR's Modified PowerBuilding v2.0

You did look to be able to drive your back into the bar better with the wider grip. That's an improvement in my eyes.

Don't fall into the hole, pull yourself into the hole. When I fall into the hole, my butt goes too far back and my knees go too far forward and I often miss depth. When I pull myself into the hole, my hips stay under me, my shins stay more upright, and I hit depth more easily with a more upright torso. Check my 565 double attempt versus my 585 single before the meet to see what I mean.

Another thing I see is You keep reaching back further and further with your butt in the descent. Look at swim or bolt how they break at the hips and descend straight down. That's a better path for a raw squat. You don't have to break up the move like they do, personally I can't. But I do try to squat straight down. If your body still wants to push your hips back on tough reps, try to make the next month's assistance heavily quad focused. It's clear to see you have a very strong posterior chain, a little quad may help.

And in the end, it may just be the nature of your body to lean more. This is not a bad thing either. Norton, Goggins, Super D, all had more lean than what people like to see. I just saw one of Norton's instagram videos where he got roasted by a bunch of nobodies about how much he leans. Layne doesn't care what they think or how he leans, he just gets it done.

Just saw this, thanks. I also agree about quads. I added in 3 weeks ago a front squat and quad focus day every week.

I think I'm going to keep widening my stance, and that'll help with going straight down.

As long as you can keep opening your knees. My widest stance my feet track over my arch/big toe or a little inboard, so I don't push them forward. Bring my feet in or duck my toes out, then I can track over my second toe and let my knees come forward a little more.

Within your structure, of course.

The well pump overheated and cracked all the connected pipes, again.

Either:
A) The pump or pump switch is going out and it's not cycling off when it's supposed to

Or

B) The well is drying up.

Please Lord, let it be A.

So, no work today. At least not this morning.

There's a good chance that if I have to have a new well drilled that kiddo will have to go to public school. His particular public school is a low C, and his neighborhood friends aren't doing well there.

I think Lowes opens at 6 or 7, so, gym time for now.

How deep is the well? What type pump and motor. What HP motor? In my other life(work) I dealt with wells/pumps/etc.

* I lost arch at rep 11 due to a low back cramp. If I had a spot I would've went for 14, a total RM Pr. However, 13 is still a 210 PR, I believe. Maybe a tie. Also lost arch and cramped on the 160 AMRAP at 15.

My grip pad for bench lost its grip a couple weeks ago but j keep forgetting to bring another. I kept sliding out.

No pain, whatsoever.

Give me a second, gotta get the wife up.

I don't know how deep. 150-200? Keep in mind we're barely above sea level.

It used to be what I believe is called a jet pump, where it would shoot water into the ground and that would force water back up. Maybe I'm thinking jet valve, and the pump was called something else. Anyway, two pipes merged running into the ground.

Some doofus a few years ago bent the pipes trying to pull it up to replace the jet valve so now we have a regular 1HP pump.

Pictures below.

We aren't pulling any sand or debris, so I'm wondering if the switch is messed up?

We went several months with a drought, so I was running the pump non-stop to keep our pond full. The other day when I replaced the piping and check valve it was after turning the pond off. My guess, or my hope, is that it's just not shutting itself off when it's supposed to, therefore its building up too much pressure while simultaneously heating the water up.

My plan this morning is to get the piping back together and have a pump company come give an opinion. I'm tired of messing with **** and taking time off work.

No pics. Is pump above ground or down the well?

Ok, above ground and uses a pressure tank. Hate those. Pressure tank and regulator probably not working. You probably have small diameter pipe which eliminates being able to use a down the well pump.
You should have plenty of groundwater at that depth of the driller used surrounding area data and knew his geology. I doubt he screened it across a clay layer.

The pressure tank is relatively new, so I'm thinking the regulator, or the pressure switch maybe? Just not turning the pump off when it's supposed to?

Did you check for "vapor lock". Relieve the pressure on the tank and line and restart.

I don't know what that means. I can't release pressure because the PVC split again. There is no pressure.

Where the threading is.

Oh, well then that's a whole different issue then. I missed that earlier I guess. Could've got struck by lightning or could be regulator or the relay switch. Yeah, best to have well guy look at it. Definitely needs troubleshooting on site.
Sorry man, if I was closer I'd run over and check it out for you.

And we could hit up the gym, too.

When I turned the pump off at 0330 the remaining water/pressure shot out both ends, along with steam...

That sounds like the pressure switch is not turning off the pump. Too bad it burned up the pump. Man, I feel for you.

Still not certain the pump has burned up. I'm not wasting my time to pipe it, just in case. Headed to work and they'll call me when they can come out.

I'm ok with any outcome that doesn't include drilling another well.

I hooked the pump back up and it cycled off at 60 psi, like it should. I don't know why it's overheating, unless something is slowly going out (pressure switch, pump, pressure tank).

I'm going back to the gym to do arms...

Good news. Did you check outlet flow? Could there be something partially plugging inlet to the pump? Sand or a bad check valve maybe?

Check valve is new, just replaced it Sunday. We haven't seen any sand in the water coming in.

Normally I could do arms all day, but I faded fast.

I likely have good news coming about my pump issues.

I guess the age of the pump is making it not max out as high, in this case it maxes at 65 PSI, which happens to be what it was set on to shut off. So a couple times it didn't shut off and overheated. The new switch is set to 57PSI, so it'll be good for a while. I almost put my own switch on, which probably would've saved me a fortune... We'll see in a minute.

Good news: well is nowhere near dry. Hitting water at 5'.

I'm excited for deadlifts Sunday, assuming I do them then.

It's a milestone of sorts. I started my 3's week before Christmas with a 340x3+, hitting 7 for a PR.

My next DL is 5's, and no more 300's. It'll be 400x5+, and I expect 11 based on my recent progression.

Finally caught up in here! Your training is pure awesomeness!!! I just love reading your progress!! Glad you seem to be figuring out your pump situation and it's not the well being dry!

Thank you so much Kat.

As for the pump...

I'm going to work today and buying one on the way home. It overheated again, and did this to the incoming line:

Some doofus used thin PVC (not the guy yesterday, this is years old) and it sucked the walls in.

This must be from hot water, right? This didn't get hot in this area before because I had two check valves; one 3' from the pump and one where it goes down the well. He removed my one closest to the pump yesterday.

So, new pump and I'll replace all the line, hoping that if its getting air that I resolve that.

What a headache.

Wow! That pipe should be schedule 40 PVC (common in Home Depot). I wonder if there is something stuck in the impeller of the pump. This would make the pump run longer than it should. Don't throw the old pump away quite yet. After you disconnect the inlet, look into the pump and see if it's plugged.

I don't know why this thinned walled PVC is there... I'm not tossing it.

Good luck with the 400 x 11 today!

Tomorrow, assuming the pump cr@p gets fixed tonight. Thanks Clown.

Stopped a lunch and saw this post. Mark is correct. That looks like old sprinkler pipe. Not what you want. Should be schedule 40. Must've vapor locked after heating up and pulled a vacuum while it was hot. If that was from heat alone you have other problems.

I have the new pump waiting for me at home. A quick stop to get more piping and I should be good to go, assuming this thunderstorm passes.

What would cause it to pull a vacuum?

Something lodged in well riser pipe? If really need to see the setup though. Check valve sticking and pump not shutting off. Pressure not pushing water back to pickup pipe? Well screen fouled and recharge on water takes too long! Broken pipe(or collapsed pipe down the well?

^^ I hope it's nothing down the well..:

I'm headed to lowes because the pressure switch tube threading it too large for the opening. This is the package that came with the pump. I hate it when they stick wrong equipment.

Forced rest day. My fronts delts and leg are sore anyway.

They got me the wrong pump, so I'm going to exchange it this morning. At least all the piping is replaced.
