Test E & hair loss

Hey guys so I'm planning at running a 12-14 wk 400mg/wk test e cycle. Now I've gotten everything planned out but I'm nervous about hair loss only real side that concerns me. I have a nice head of hair and would like to keep it. Should I be worried or no? If so what would help me keep my hair.

There are topical a like spironolactone that block DHT on the scalp. finasteride will block it systemically. Personally I wouldn't do that. DHT is GOOD. Someone told me a long time ago though "if you are that worried about hair loss you might want to reconsider using steroids".

If you're prone to MPB, test will likely add to the recession. I had a full, thick head of hair till my 30's, then suddenly recession and crowning. I wasn't on anything.

I agree with jcam222, too much negative press associated with Finasteride (Propecia). All the more updated articles are showing DHT is great for you and may not be the cause after all. Same with permanent prostate enlargement, though DHT can temporarily irritate it and cause it to swell. Also a few very negative articles on Finasteride, even the "c-word" claims.

I may consider topicals on my next run, though I wouldn't mind a fully bald head. Just hate the in-between stages where you pretty much look like a walking prick.

Try some Invalid Link Removed shampoo during your cycle, it has tons of ingredients to bind to the androgen receptor sites on the scalp and block DHT from binding there. Some of the ingredients include URTICA DIOICA, BIOTIN, SAW PALMETTO, PRUNUS AFRICANA (PYGEUM), ZINC, BETA SITOSTEROL, CUCURBITA PEPO (PUMPKIN) SEED OIL. It also has Nizoral (Ketoconazole) which is an anti-androgen and can help prevent DHT on the scalp too.

I would alternate between using that and Invalid Link Removed every other day, because the PURA D'OR only has 0.9%. The best Nizoral is the 2% kind, but AFAIK you can only either buy that in Canada or get an rx from your doctor for it. If anyone knows a source in the US for the 2% Nizoral, please PM me.

I would use about a half and half mix of Nizoral 1% and another shampoo I use called Invalid Link Removed that has Salicylic Acid in it.

From Wikipedia:
Salicylic acid works as a keratolytic, comedolytic, and bacteriostatic agent, causing the cells of the epidermis to shed more readily, opening clogged pores and neutralizing bacteria within, preventing pores from clogging up again by constricting pore diameter, and allowing room for new cell growth

A keratolytic causes the skin to cells to regenerate themselves and is used to prevent clogged pores on the scalp. A comedolytic keeps the hair follicles from being clogged with excess Keratin (skin debris), so it helps the hair follicles to stay strong and continue to grow. Then, of course, a bacteriostatic prevents bacteria from growing on the scalp. This kind of thing is what you normally see in dandruff or other hair conditions, but AAS are known to turn bacteria into a "super bacteria" of sorts, which is what causes some of the more serious acne you see, and can also lead to hair loss as pores on the scalp can get clogged.

The use of anabolic steroids stimulates the growth of Propionibacterium acnes, which increases the chances of developing acne. Researchers in Iran discovered this and we wrote about it recently. But having dug up an old study done by the dermatologist Csaba Kiraly did in 1988, we reckon this is not the whole story. That study suggests that steroids use changes Propionibacterium acnes from ordinary pimple bacteria into rampant acne bacteria.

There are some other good ingredients in Everclean like tea tree oil, which is a natural antibiotic and antiseptic, Vitamin A, pine tar, and just a bunch of other good ingredients that helps keep the scalp clear and clean of debris, acne, skin buildup, and etc.

If you don't want to spend the money on the Everclean, you can get some Invalid Link Removed from your local Walmart or pharmacy, which also has Salicylic acid, amongst other good stuff. The reason I recommend Salicylic acid and Nizoral is because that is how Dr. Lee used to sell it on minoxidil.com before the FDA/DEA raided it and shut it down. One day I'll have to look through archive.org and see if I can find out what he claimed the purported benefits of doing this was, but I think my explanation is pretty similar to his.

Finally, if you want to add even more anti-DHT boosting you can add a topical Azelaic Acid, B6, Zinc (along with some other vitamins and compounds to help it absorb through the skin) and was shown in studies to help block 5AR on the hairline Invalid Link Removed

This is the brand I recommend:

Just a note if you buy this stuff, when I first started using it, it comes with a little eye dropper made of glass and about the 2nd or 3rd time I used it, the eye dropper fell right out and shattered all over my bathroom floor, so I would recommend using an oral syringe instead. It's easier to measure and easier to apply.

They also sell a topical spironolactone cream, which is a serious anti-androgen and you can apply to your scalp to totally block any and all androgens from getting to the hair follicles. This is what I recommend and use:

Unfortunately, it's a cream and not a liquid so it's a little hard to apply. Toren who turned me on to it, recommended cutting it with some aloe vera gel to help the bottle last a little longer since it's pricey stuff. I would much rather prefer a liquid dropper to apply it so I could get it direct on the scalp, and if anyone knows anyone who sells liquid spironolactone without a prescription, please let me know.

The whole idea of using all this stuff is to block DHT and other androgens right from the scalp and hairline, but not to regrow any lost hair if you have any. If you're trying to regrow hair, you'll need to use some different methods. You can also use an oral product like Invalid Link Removed that has saw palmetto, Urtica Dioca and pumpkin seed oil, all of which have been shown to reduce 5AR - but not to a super significant degree like you would see with something like finasteride or dutasteride. Plus, with Urtica Dioca you're also getting reduced SHBG binding, so you'll have more free testosterone levels in the blood. It's also just generally good to help your prostate and keep you from peeing like a race horse constantly when your prostate starts getting larger from the testosterone.

Hope that helps,
pogue

I'm receding a bit. Tried fin and it hurt my strength and sex drive too much. Just ordered spiro s5 cream, and am using both Nizoral shampoo and minoxidil daily.

You're risking losing some hair if you run test. No way around it. But you can definitely help minimize it.

You could try topical finasteride as well.

Minoxidil is something you gon on and stay on for life. Once you quit using it, the hair you grew back from it falls out.

Here's another site Toren turned me on too. It's a compounding pharmacy and they will make you minoxidil in a percentage anywhere from 5-30%, and you can add your choice of Vitamin E 0.1%, Tretinoin 0.025% (Retinoic Acid- RA) [Basically super Vitamin A they use in acne patients], Azelaic Acid 5% [anti-DHT compound], Progesterone 0.25% (which apparently when applied topically to the scalp will inhibit the 5AR enzyme, but if you don't want it, you can choose not to have it or any of the other ingredients added), Finasteride 0.1%, Hydrocortisone 0.1%, & Biotin 3%.

I wish they had the option to add Salicylic Acid 1-2% and ketoconazole 1-2%
