TC's Training For Life Journey

This summer I had one of those household breakdowns. Lost my AC, pool pump, dryer, well, modems, and garage/yard radio. It sucked.

Remember guys, it could always be worse! Glad you got everything fixed so quickly, that's deserving of a huge pat on the back and a high 5!
Thomas, you really had a good outlook and didn't let everything get to you, really had a great outlook too with everything that went on this past summer.

Really good role models for the kids you guys are raising!

Trying to be a good role model for both my boys. My oldest lives with me and my youngest lives with his mother 60 miles away in another town. Its difficult at times but as all us parents know ... its worth it in the long run.

So .... busy night last night so didn't post this. Here it is now ....

FYI .... my youngest (12yrs) is doing the bodybuilding thing too .... on his own. He is the more athletic of the two boys so its more natural to him. He has a gym membership and goes 3-4 days a week. So proud of both my boys. Getting into the healthy lifestyle so early on. ;)

Wait until he starts bulking. You'll a need a mortgage loan to feed him.

I am worried about that. Its hard enough already to keep everybody fed around here. As we all know it is more expensive to eat healthy in this mixed up society we live in. My boy is looking for a part time job now that his grandma got a car for him. The kids gonna soon realize the cost of healthy food. He's gonna have to pitch in for our "bodybuilding" food. My lady and her girls still eat like crap so part of our food budget goes towards junk that my boy and I don't eat. So we are on our own for the good stuff. At least we've got a while before the kid considers bulking. He's gotta lose the fat first.

I agree 100% in the health cost. I read in men's Health or some mag like that one time there's now reason to eat unhealthy. All natural healthy organic food and grass fed beef avgs 15c per more per ounce food than eating junk. I'd like to know where they fuken shop

15c my as* From out here in NorCal I can say its a hell of a lot more than that on average. Eating healthy is a serious investment .... but I can't do it any other way. I don't have cable TV and never go out to eat .... rarely drink .... so the money the average joe spends on those frivolous activities I spend on healthy food ;)

I have cable for the kiddo. Eat out some cause otherwise I wouldn't have time. But rarely drink. I'd rather spend the money on food and pinch elsewhere. I feel better all around when my diets clean

Our kids seem to do fine watching whatever on youtube or netflix. and generally if there's a show or a movie they can't find it there my lady always manages to find somewhere to download it so they can watch. I watch TV on weekends only and my lady and I end up watching some show or movie she's downloaded .... so no need for cable at this point. Its been 3 years since we turned it off and really haven't missed it.

My boy did awesome tonight! Finally got that first month of neural adaptation out of the way and now he's finally pushing some weight and hitting the muscles correctly. Had him do significantly more weight on all his lifts and he felt it .... in all the right places

Nice session tonight. The boy did great again. Put him under some real weight on the flat bench and told him to let that primal instinct to survive be what drives him .... get the heavy thing off your chest or die ;) It worked. A month ago the kid was struggling with just the bar .... tonight he put up 135 for 5 reps! Progress

21's suck!! Lol!!! Congrats for even doing them. They will definitely cause growth though!

Great Monday session after 4 days off. Got sick last week so took it as a good sign to take a deload week .... got 2 good sessions in last week on Mon and Wed and then rested until tonight. Felt great to get back at it .... only 4 days off but it was just what I needed to come back with a vengeance/

How're you doing the OHP 21's?

I'm imagining 7 half bottom reps, 7 half top reps, and 7 full reps and that sounds awfully painful!

7 top range. 7 bottom range. 7 full range. And yes they're painful. But a great pump especially after hitting the delts with barbbell OHP first. And I ended up doing 2 of those bb sets behind the neck as well. After that and the lateral raises my delts were feelin it.

Late as usual (lately) with my posts ..... Crazy busy life again.

Took in more kCals and carbs today ... was feeling a little depleted these last 2 sessions so felt a re-feed was in order.

Ok ... so I'm sitting here on a semi-rainy Sunday in NorCal and I am at that point where I think its time to switch up my training routine. I used to do 4 day a week A/B protocol and switched to a 3 day a week regime about 3 months ago. Still aiming to hit every muscle group at least 2x per week because that's just what works for me ..... and I am a volume beast so I tend to go between 25-30 sets per session, sometimes upwards of 40 sets. So far recovery has been fine even with my life getting much busier than it was when I was training 4 days a week (new job). So ... as I sit here drinking coffee and reflecting on the last 7 years of training I find myself actually considering switching to a full-body protocol .... first thought being that it will be difficult for me to limit my volume on each session even knowing that I am hitting each muscle group 3x a week so I need to focus more on weekly volume rather than volume per session. But I also remember way back when I started this iron game I used a modified full-body routine and it really fit well back then .... but that was before I was able to add so much volume to each session and the weights were a lot lighter .... So ... I guess I am just putting this out there to the AM crowd to see what you all think. Keeping in mind I am not in my 20's any more and I don't have the time these days to devote to more than 3 days per week training. M-W-F seems to fit into my busy schedule ..... perhaps in the future I can get back to a 4 day a week protocol but for the time being I have to work with what I've got. So ..... any thoughts?

Rained here in NorCal last night and most of today .... but the rain gods and the gods of iron reached an agreement and it cleared up 10 minutes before my session started this evening. If we are gonna get a real winter this year I may have to re-evaluate my outdoor gym.

I'm back :veryhappy:
Been without the laptop for a little over a week .... got it fixed and now I am ready to get back to this log. Still cutting .... down a few more pounds .... sitting at 254 now that's a total of 20lbs down since I stopped my permabulk about 15 weeks ago .... been hitting it hard in the gym but not gonna post the last 5 sessions that I couldn't post while laptop was down. I will start back up with tomorrows session. Shooting for another 14lbs gone before I crack into my goodies stash for another cycle .... ;)

Welcome back! Glad things are still going well for you!

Sounds like a quest to me that won't take long for you to reach. Awesome progress. How's the boy doing on his journey?

Sounds like a quest to me that won't take long for you to reach. Awesome progress. How's the boy doing on his journey?

It is a quest. This whole bodybuilding lifestyle is born out of that quest that is inside all of us here on AM. I have to admit I am getting tired of being on this cut ... as is the usual case when the end is near. Keep peaking at my goodies in the cupboard and getting antsy to move on to the next phase.

The kids been doing great. I envy that youthful recovery ability of his.

Gonna be doing Back / Biceps / Abs tonight. And I will finally get back to posting on this log as promised. Work / Life has been much more hectic than usual .... but that always seems to be the case this time of year.

Happy thanksgiving west-coast Tom.

Helluva pump .... especially after the super carb-up meal for Thanksgiving!

Had to clean and rearrange a few things today including my supplement cupboard .... caught myself standing there staring at my 'goodies' and dreaming of the cycle to come. Got enough for 2 good cycles .... just trying to plan it out for the best results .... should be ready to hit the ground running in about 3 weeks. ;)
