So what do you all think. Sometime it is hard to eat a meal mid-day. what bars are the best. something i can toss in my bag and eat if don't have a meal ready and it's time to eat. i won't do it often.

I'm a 'food first' kind of lad, so my first instincts are to tell you to get your act together and cook some meals! ;)

However, I do recognise that life isn't always that easy and therefore MRPs/protein bars do come in handy every now and again.

To be honest, whilst pretty convenient, pre-made protein bars are very much like 'weight gainers', they're usually full of poor ingredients and a waste of money.

Some better ideas would be to:

1. Make your own protein bars, there's some great threads here by Aggravated and Joshua86 for a some recipes:

They'll provide all the calories and protein you'll need, save you a ton of money and are packed with goodness unlike some of these commercial bars :)

2. Make a protein shake/meal replacement drink, again here's some ideas:

If worst came to worst, you could even stick some protein powder (dry) in a shaker until you need it, and top off the meal with some fresh fruit and nuts.

Hope this gives your some inspiration mate.

I really liked the MetRX cookie bars. They were around 25g of protein and quite tasty. But i agree with making your own too. Buying the boxes gets expensive and one day youll get a good pump and eat the whole box.

Ewe.
That was the kind I was talking about.
My god.
Took me forever to chew them down.

If you're out and don't have your homemade bars with you, you could always try VPX's Zero Impact bars, 400+ cals, 30g protein, complex carbs and mostly good fats. They're filling.
