anybody do or done it in the past? i got my blackbelt in kickboxing when i was 16 and entered a few comps and im at uni now and fancy doing it, the only thing i dont like is that the belt gradings are set 2 x per year so, even if i double graded i couldt get black in the next 4-5 year where my kick boxing i took gradigs when i felt i was ready rather than set dates.

also any good to bring into mma later on?

I'd stick to kickboxing IMO, and then just pick a grappling art, like jiu jitsu or judo or wrestling, or all of them.

Tae kwon do? More like tae kwon don't. No, I just wanted reiterate what others have said with a horrible joke to open. You've been Hiroshima'd.

I think if you honestly like Tae Kwon Do (or any martial art) after trying it for a year, you probably won't care about what date you make your black belt by. If you've already got a black belt in another style, wouldn't that cover you for competition belt requirement purposes? As for practical applications in MMA I can't speak, but I'm sure a style's popularity (or lack of) within the world of MMA speaks for itself.

cheers for the replies, suppose you are right , if it were any good as a mma sport then more people would have it in mma. like sad the kickboxing will cover me anyway lol just my ground game that will be terrible, but i have a mean strike so i can work on the ground game.
