Switched to EOD injections. Hematocrit went up?

I was previously taking 50 mg test cyp Every 3.5 and here was my last bloodwork


Total T: 1316 ng/dl (264-916)

Free T: 28.3 ng/dl (9.3-26.5)

Estradiol (sensitive): 40.1 pg/ml (8.0-35.0)

SHBG: 45.2 nmol/l (16.5-55.9)

HCT: 45%

Hemoglobin 15.8 g/dL



I recently switched to 25 mg EOD and feel much better/smoother 4 weeks later

Free T: 153 pg/mL (9.3-26.5)

Estradiol (sensitive): 40.1 pg/ml (8.0-35.0)

SHBG: 35 mol/l

HCT: 50%

Hemoglobin 17 g/dL


my Hct and Hemoglobin went up despite dropping my overall dose and increasing frequency?
Im getting concerned since im creeping towards 51. any suggestions?



I actually got my HCT tested right before I switched to EOD and it was 45% so it jumped 5% points in 4 weeks..

If your T levels are that high on twice a week pinning, you may need to reduce the amount of test you’re pinning. You’re above range. More is not better on TRT. Get your levels down a little and more than likely your hematocrit will go down.

Isnt 17 pretty high? Im at the upper end of the range.

also its possible. I drank 3 tall glasses of water an hour before my test, but I wasn't really hydrating well the day before, hence why I overcompensated with those 3 tall glasses

I don't think so. Your still in normal range...

Your numbers look fine...mine hangs around 17..I do 140mg test cyp..split into 70mg IM twice a week

Most likely..I'm usually dehydrated in the morning before labs..probably should wait till evening..my lvls I'm sure wont be that far off to make a difference

Wow. Such a low dose and huge response. My response to 22mg eod 8 weeks later had my free t at the very top of range in the trough and a hemoglobin of 18.1 and hematocrit of 51.9. Can't decide how low i should drop, but probably going with 16mg eod.

the VA takes my labs in the mornings and says no food after midnight the night before...they also say to only sip water also, which is a real pita since i wake up really thirsty from cpap machine???

this isn't for a hormonal test just the regular labs which include the red and white blood count.

Imo the VA is terrible out dated protocols.. I was told the same thing about food and water...I drink plenty of water these days..before labs..I never used to till past few yrs ago..

i've had pretty decent treatment from VA on everything except hormonal....my last doc freaked out on blood count and 1st took me off trt altogether then cut it in half-this is where i have stayed for least few years-from 200mg weekly down to 100mg....fortunately my 'old' doc retired at 74 and my new doc doesn't freak out over blood count numbers-my bloods came back a little high but he didn't freak.

the only one that was really high was rdw-sd.....glad you told me about being hydrated i got test done at 8:am, and hadn't ate since 8pm the night before and had limited fluid intake to just sips of water-didn't even have my morning coffee.

my hematocrit is in range hct 50.9 range is 39-51.... it is my red blood count that is 4 points above range.

There's a study showing more frequent injections raise HCT. Kinda odd since that is realistically more natural compared to a bigger bolus once weekly.

great tip on being hydrated for bloods...i'm looking forward to how this affects my numbers since i have been fasting and only sipping water since night before.

Gotcha. I was at 18.1 and 51.9 just last week, no symptoms, but I don't like to be that high anymore. My highest was 19 hgb and 57 hct lol.

My hgb was 17.5 just few weeks ago..hct 49..I also still take adderall and that dehydrats me no matter how much I drink...I'm going to not take it the day before labs..I think I took it that morning cant remember...I do 5mg cialis daily and that keeps my blood pressure in check..

My insurance covers it..or you can use the good rx app..pumps are good during workouts..had some heartburn and body ache side effects for the first couple months..but that all went away..BP was 141 over 100..now its 126 over 70..
