Sweetlou's training log

New wr "squat" lol. I know the kid too.

Everyone is getting gifts at this meet and I won't be shocked the meet gets tossed out.

You'd almost think the squatter was trolling too. He posted a close-up to show his 'depth'.

10/4/15-upper
Warmup
Loosen pecs and lats up
Band work to open up ext rotation
Band work to get scaps moving SNF firing

Med grip bench paused
Work up
265x2
Comp grip bench paused
135x3x5
Flat db press
20x3x20
Db rows
80x2x10
60x2x10
70x10
Light band pushdowns/hammer curls/side raises
25/30x12/15x15
25/30x10/15x15
Unilateral micro band facepulls/micro band ext rot/seated ext rot
15/10/5x10, 2 sets
Notes: deload session except I decided to see how my bench felt. No pain. Moved well enough. Had more in me. Trying to build up my bottom end now to make a come back. Huge firing problems from left to right on db rows. 60-70 for 10 was about my max on my left when moving right. 80 was child's play for my right side.

I was not the trolls posting in the thread but knew who they were. Close friends of the kid who squatted got mad. Made some lies. And now most of my friends at my gym think I told who was the troll and blocked me and what not. So effectively I was thrown under the bus for something I didn't do and had no part of. No one really believes me either even when I tried to show proof.

Sounds like everyone on both sides is butthurt. Over a fuking squat! It's not life or death. People really lose sight of what's important.

I agree 100%. But now my personal life is effected so this has gone to far. When I had nothing to do with it. I love powerlifting but if more and more drama pops up I may just switch sports at this point.

Just lift for yourself. Grown children are everywhere.

What other sports are we talking? Just curious.

That's what happens when a bunch of dudes on a **** load of gear and inflated egos get told the truth. If he had any integrity, it would be clear that his attempt was higher than Tommy Chong. The damn thing was higher than the infamous Mike Miller squat in IPA from years back.

Strongman looks pretty fun and I know a few people that do it near me.

But you are right. I do this for me. So I'll worry about me. And if anyone questions my character. I don't need them anyways.

I agree with this 100%. Except I never even said the squat was high to any of them as I already knew they were a bunch of dick heads on a **** load of gear who would start some bs lol

A solid punch to the liver solves most of these situations. Plus, they're likely weakened in area from said gear.

The gym I train out of has some strongmen. One of our gals qualified for the Arnold again this year on Saturday. We were talking yesterday and they all agreed that most people don't get more than 3 good years in the sport. You don't call your weights; everything is always full bore. The owner is retired basically w both biceps long gone and he's 33. Not counting the laundry list of other injuries.

It's neat but everything in strongman is trying to kill you. The way your back rounds on stones. How yolk compresses your spine while you try to walk. Me and one of the guys flipped a stripped out car frame Thursday night mid workout and since we weren't over 6ft it was too tall to flip all the way. After we got it up he had to dive under it while I dropped down like a clean and press to finish the flip. HE WAS UNDER THE CAR. Tell me nothing bad could ever happen there. Powerlifting has enough ways to get hurt lol

I agree with this. As a general rule, I don't really recommend strongman to anyone.

Especially if there isn't money involved, and a good deal of it.

I don't even intend to compete again myself until I know I am well stronger than competition weight. It just isn't worth the risk for me at this point.

Yeah, even on "light" stuff I've had **** go wrong.

I felt my back "shift" before TSM on a warmup yoke (~500#). Had my knees give out under yokes (warmups as well as work weight). Seen biceps torn on axle deadlift, blew out my own disc on one (and I'm not even 23).

It is definitely a young man's sport, and it isn't for anyone that already has any kind of injury history. Most of my own personal injuries stem primarily from my military service, but its hard for me to believe it would've gotten as bad as it did if I never did strongman.

I'm passing on strongman now. Thanks for the eye opener.

Lol.

Its all settled now. I diffused it. A bunch of hot headed egos with no facts or info looking for someone to attack.

Edit: honestly settled it so my gf wouldn't face any backlash since the main guy who had an issue is the boyfriend to one of my gfs team mates and training partners. So I put her ahead of myself here.

I'm very glad I train at a strongman/cross training facility. Tons of racks and bars and space and implements and people are pretty supportive and competitive. But I'm totally isolated from the bs powerlifting culture here as there's only a couple other PLs there besides me and we just come in and train away and it's always a good time.

If I was in gear I know I'd have to get with a crew, but I like being solo for the most part. Somebody is always around to spot me or chalk my back if I need it anyway.

This use to be me till I joined Obb. I had no idea there was as much bs in the sport as there is honestly. Not fun.

Its bad. But not as bad as the internet makes it out to be. You can avoid it if you just don't talk much.

Thats what i do lol. At my gym i really dont talk to anyone on the team there about training. It is sad that it has to be that way but i have absolutely no interest in involving myself in the bull****. I just go in get my work in and leave.

Gene of rps made the official decision.

That high squat was not excepted.
The directors are suspended from holding meets until may next year.
The judges are suspended and may be terminated. New judges will be trained and certified for their next meet.

Just updating the am FAM.

Glad he came down on them like that.
