Swanson52 said:I'm also wondering if I'd really lose much on my lifts if I dropped down to 242's. My July meet is a 24 hour weigh in, so if I could drop to 250, I'm sure I could manipulate 8# of water.
~12 weeks, need to lose 30# to get there...
Interesting...
8 lbs of water @ 250 is a lot bro, 3% BW. Best to do it slow...
You're prob right. I should just get macros in check and compete 275 wherever I land.
Hell, right now I need to cut to get to 275.![]()
small steps brother, better chance of success...
Yeah you're absolutely right. One of those "fix it all" days within my dome.
I must need sleep.
and less beer?
:biglaugh:
Can't multiquote from Tapatalk, but I think you're right. I just need to get leaner within my weight class. I just get frustrated when I'm bloated as **** from not drinking enough water & eating too many carbs. I'm impatient, when all I need to do is tweak diet.
That's why I love a journal-I put my stupid ass thoughts out there & smarter lifters smack me back in line.
DL form-first off I've seen that video, and that dude never ceases to amaze. He really is a freak. Yeah, I do need to get a bit closer...I've got to nail down the relationship between having my hips close but still having shoulders back. My short-ass arms really hurt me here; I've really got to get DOWN to get to the bar.
Good tip, I'll def. work that in on Monday. Maybe I'll throw in a few light sets tomorrow just to practice.
Little adjustments at a time and see what feels right. I do think that you need to get your foot placement out wider. I don't know how tall Duffin is but his feet are almost out to the plates. That alone will bring you down much closer to the bar. It will also put more stress on the hips/groin so be careful with that.
Why don't you pull conventional? Sorry if its been mentioned already...
If you are going to st ick with sumo then you should flare your knees out more, get closer to the bar, and get your hips more into it. The weight looked easy for you but you need to squat down to the bar more and keep your chest up.
how tall are you big man? How much mobility work do you do for your hips/glutes/hamstrings?
6'2ish. I do mobility work (usually Agile 8) 4-5 days/week. Rumble or PVC roll daily.
Gotcha. I think if you can get your technique squared away, you'll be pulling much more weight in no time. What are you goals for your upcoming meet?
2 lbs of guacamole =
Yummy...
What is that strange looking tortilla next to the naked buritto?? Lol
I'll post what I'll be wrecking here in 26-36 minutes when Dominos delivers. Steve just out the pizza in the oven, thanks to dominos tracker.
Never tied the black slingshot, just the red one. Video once ya do.
Marshall Johnson is going to be at the comp I'm training for in July. I find that incredibly cool.

very cool. at the meet i did last jan, matt f'ing kroc was the head judge.
when he was announced and walked in, i have to say i was in awe
there's just a little bit of pressure when matt f'ing kroc gives you the squat command...

Swanson52 said:I said screw it & hired Shelby Starnes. I know all about diet, but if I'm not answering to someone I'm simply noncompliant.
Flame on, yo.
Wow, srs?
Yes...should I fear your response? :cringe:
Edit: I've worked with Skip Hill quite a bit in the past, and where I struggle is in making adjustments and/or understanding when. I tend to get stuck in one mode then don't make changes when I should. Skip was invaluable in that regard.
I'd prob work with him again, but as he's a prep guy his forte isn't powerlifting. That's why I chose to go with Shelby.
no, actually i think it's pretty cool. christ man, it's shelby starnes! this is a dumb question but what exactly is he going to be doing for you?
i could hear my wife bitching now about return on investment if i did that :biglaugh:
I'm going to have him cut off some extra fat; I'm creeping up, and I was damn near 300 today and **** is getting out of hand.
I'd like him as a resource to manipulate my carbs to maximize recovery, yet she'd some of this damn blubber. That's where I struggle; I'm either recovering awesome and getting fat, or leaning out but struggling with DOMS, sleep, etc. I just can't find the balance.
I agree with the consensus that 242 is nonsense, but considering my ballooning the last few weeks, I'll need guidance just staying in 275.
That's a long ass answer...cliffs would be prep recomp.![]()
Yessir, the whole gamut. Diet design from top to bottom. Macros, meals, supps, the whole thing from a nutrition standpoint.
Pretty freakin excited.
take advantage of it brother, that's a resource not to be wasted...
