Supplements weakened my immune system

For quite a while I was training with the use of a few supplements which included creatine, BCAA, glutamine, pre-workout boosters, vitamins, and protein shakes. During these periods, I found myself getting sick with colds and sinus infections at least once every two months, and sometimes every month. last year, I decided to give myself a break from all of it for a while. During that break of a few months, I didn't get sick once. I then decided to start up again. Within about 2-3 weeks of being back on the supps, I started to get sick again. I figured there must have been some kind of connection. To continue the experiment, about 4-5 months ago I quit all the supps again and have been sickness-free ever since.

While I do enjoy the results of these supplements during heavy training, it's not worth getting sick so often. I may try going back to some of them and experiment with the process of elimination. It may have been one supplement that was weakening my immune system of the combination.

Anyone else experience anything like this?

This seems very unlikely... None of the supps you listed except the pre could even possibly do this as the rest are essentially just food...

Something you might consider though... when taking supps, do you train harder? Maybe push yourself more than normal? that alone can seriously stress your immune system.

I didn't train a ton harder but I did tend to make my workouts more regular with solid programs. I guess when I get on the supps, I wanna make the most of my training. I was still getting enough sleep and my nutrition was good. I've been off the supps and vitamins for a while now and I'm the healthiest I've been in a long time. Catching a cold became routine after a while and used to knock me out for at least a week.

It just seems to be too much of a coincidence that when I'm off the stuff I'm healthy and when I'm on, I keep getting sick.

Well unless you're taking more than hair what you listed, or the ones you're taking are spiked or something, it's just not possible ha.

None of that should weaken your immune system, at all.

I never get sick, and probably regularly use more than you ever did

I would imagine most people wouldn't get sick. For whatever reason, I ended up with bad luck. I'm probably gonna start the creatine alone for a while and see how that goes.

Exactly what I would suggest, man.
I can't imagine it effecting you but keep us informed

Take probiotics every day.

I've suffered from chronic bronchitis and upper respiratory infections all my life.

Probiotics, I've learned, prevents me from getting sick.

I use to get sick every time I did a powerlifting meet or PR'ed on bench unless I slept extra hours the days after those days. I think it is related to increased intensity. If you are preworkouts, BCAAs glutamine, etc and you are not noticing any increase in training intensity, your workouts are too weak to cause this, and/or the supplements you are using suck bc preworkouts and BCAAs will dif increase your training intensity. Sht even starbucks preworkout will increase your training intensity.

I do however think there is some relation to nitric oxide boosters and catching a cold.

Abaddon75, are you sensitive to stimulants at all and were you taking a greater amount than normal during those times?

Hey bud, somethings to consider in any supplement are the ingredients. Especially t boosters, thermogenics, and fat burners. Supps that mess with your Test and metabolism should be considered top on the list for the issues you are having. There can be certain ingredients your body isn't agreeing with, the test booster might be imbalanced and it can be throwing your test off. I'd say lay off pre workouts, they have a horrible come down if you've been on them for a while. Try having carbs in a liquid or solid form 30 minutes before training. I guarantee you'll get a better pump with no crash. Drink aminos during your workout and monitor your training. Over training and not supplementing your body correctly can also lead to a weak immune system. I experience this every now and then when I don't supplement the right way. Get some vitamin c packs and mix it in with some aminos while your working out. Hope this helps.
