What's going on my fellow Iron Addicts! Quick review of Mutant's Triple Chocolate Iso Surge whey. Apologies it took so long, real life has been happening. Once again, appreciate the sample and the opportunity to log it!
Mixability: 10/10
I'm a simple man. I use a standard shaker with a wire ball. I did one scoop in about 6oz of zero-sugar almond milk.
Gave it the standard 20-second "rage shake" and... it's flawless. Let it sit for a few minutes to see what shakes out and still all mixed up. No concrete being made at the bottom of the shaker!
As you can see from the pics, it's smooth. No clumps, no chalky residue clinging to the sides, no floaties. It foamed up just a tiny bit at the top, but settled immediately.
Taste & Texture: 9.5/10
This is the main event. You know how most chocolate proteins are either "DARK BITTER COCOA" or "weird chemical sweet"? This is neither.
The absolute best way to describe it is Nestle Quik.
It's a light, smooth, milk chocolate flavor. Great mouth feel, it's not heavy or thick at all. The biggest win? Zero. Chalkiness. It's smooth, light, and just... easy to drink.
It's also not overly sweet. They nailed the balance, seems liek they do this with all their supps, that's some serious research and feedback there Folks! It just tastes like a glass of chocolate milk. Best of all, there is NO weird, lingering artificial sweetener aftertaste. It goes down clean.
The "Gimmick" - Real Chocolate Bits? 10/10
Alright, so the label claims "Real Chocolate Bits." We've all been lied to by "Cookies & Cream" that's just grey powder, right?
Well, I'm here to report... THEY AREN'T LYING.
Check out this "bottom of the shaker" pic. After I downed the shake, there were actual, legit, mini chocolate chips left. It was like a tiny, anabolic reward for finishing my protein. A+ for honesty, quite surprising. Not chucks, but mini chiperoos! So I gave it a 10/10 for the chips being honest to goodness chips and actually being present, but it's not a make or break for me, as I had to spoon them out. Happy to report that they also tasted like good chocolate!
Digestion: 10/10
I'll skip the macros (you can look those up), but the important part: Digestion.
This stuff sat perfectly. No "swole-gut," no bloat, no need to quarantine myself from the family for the rest of the evening. Just felt clean and light. They added enzymes just for this reason, although it has been my experience that the higher the quality, the less these are needed. Happy to report this is just extra insurance, as I can react not so nicely to lackluster whey and nothing bad here, just all good.
Final Verdict: 9.5/10 - A New Staple
This is easily in my new Top 3. If you're sick of choking down shakes and want something that actually tastes like a treat, this is it. It's light, it's delicious, it mixes perfectly, no bloat adn about as natural as you can get, and the chocolate chips are real.
