He was DLing in the 800lb range.

I am guessing he is looking at it from his experience with competition level weight and not in a lower total weight for training benefit.

Edit, he said it on a joe rogan podcast from 2019. Just came across it while searching for some DL info.
He also said "It’s so hard to be a good deadlifter and not risk your low back, and to be using your upper back properly, there’s so many chances for you to get hurt. "
That sounds more reasonable and true at any weight and that is why training with less weight to condition for heavier is part of this activity.

Well anyway there it is for your review. Oh I believe he is about 6'7" and weighed in the 300lb. range.
