Strongman Off-Season Training

I have been training in Strongman for almost a year now. I train out of the Northeast and have had a couple competitions. I have been reading up on off-season programming for Strongman, and I am interested to see other perspectives. My off-season plan is probably wildly different than other Strongman competitors, so I was wondering...

What does an off-season strongman template/routine include (how is it set up)? Is it full-body or split? more powerlifting based or bodybuilding based? 3 or 4 days per week?

well, what do you need? do you need more size? more strength? more power? more technique work? you should work on what you need the most work on. of course is standard for athletes to work on mass and strength during the off season. then preseason work on conditioning and power conversion. then technique work during season.

one guy in our gym is going to nationals this weekend. he trains movements during the week, like a squat day, a deadlift day, and pressing day. sundays is an event day where he works on technique using the events at the meet. he may get more technique work during the week a few weeks out from a comp. mainly if he feels he needs work. for example, if there is a car deadlift he will do that on his deadlift day instead of a traditional pull. on push day he will do what the event is doing, like axle clean, or log, etc.

does that help?

That's what I have been doing. My Training has been OHP & upper back / Triceps, Deads & Front Squats, then hitting events 48 hours later. I am just intrigued as to how other might set-up their training.

After my next contest, I am looking to change it up, address my static strength, and work on full-body strength and size with minimal events.
