Can anyone recommend some good strength training books or authors? I realize that strength training is a pretty basic deal but I enjoy reading about it and am always looking for some new tips and new/different views.

Do you mean strength training literally, as in powerlifting? Or do you mean strength training as in general training with weights for fitness? For that the first stop I would always say is Invalid Link Removed. I think an updated version is due out soon though, so it might be worth waiting. This book approaches it from a coaching point of view. So it not only helps you brush up your approach but makes you better able to help others.
If you do not mind reading more scientific texts, Science and Practice of Strength Training by Zatsiorky and Supertraining by Siff are excellent books although they do need some interepretation into real life training from the labratory.
I've got this but skipped his first book as it's mostly for beginners. Anyways Practical...is a top book. He's also got a new book coming out...I spoke to the publisher a couple of weeks ago and she told me she was the photo shoot for the book pics.
If you haven't read Bill Starr's seminal strength classid 'Only the strongest shall survive', get it. Rippetoe approach is grounded in Starr's approach ie. 5x5, heavy, light, medium etc and they used to train together
