Unanswered Starting finasteride, should I have an AI on hand in case of gyno?

I'll be starting Propecia (finasteride) 0.5 ED in a couple weeks. I read that gyno is a possible side effect, so should order Nolvadex to have on hand just in case of a flair up?

Is gyno a common side effect?
Has anyone successfully treated gyno from finasteride using Nolva?
Is aranastrozole / exemestane / letrozole a better option?

Gyno is very rare from it. I dont think you will have a problem but having ancillaries on hand is always a good idea

Is an AI like anastrozole, exemestane, or letro better with finasteride, or would an anti estrogen like nolva be ok? If nolva is ok id probably go with that, because if i dont use it for fin gyno i can use it with the var only cycle i have on deck.

You won't need Estrogen control on a Var only cycle.

I have clomid on hand, but it leads to hair shedding as well, so i planned on getting nolva either way.

Gotcha.
Nolva for your PCT, do you mean?
Nolva doesn't protect from hair loss, unless there is something that I'm unaware of.

Ohhh..you must mean, as opposed to Clomid.
Sorry, I'm a little slow right now. Got a nagging headache.

Finasteride is something you will be on indefinitely?

Your body will adjust to it if so. You could take nolva for a short time if you get sensitive nips but unlikely you'll need to. I would not play the see saw game of an AI. Your total test will go up slightly due to lack of conversion of dht and potentially more e2 conversion but SHBG usually goes up as well somewhat evening it out.

Id suggest adding a test base (doesnt have to be big) on the var cycle to avoid shutdown. i always keep 2 AI on hand, adex for on cycle and nolva for off. But everyone is correct, var doesn't really aromatize, so you dont need one, but its going to shut you down. Id reccomend hcg and clomid to restart if youre set on the var only

Remember, a base won't help avoid shutdown. It can alleviate some shut down symptoms, however.

I have clomid on hand, but i was under the impression id be ok only taking nolva for PCT, assuming i do the var only cycle (without test). Should i add clomid as well?

Clomiphene helps restart your HTPA (HPTA?) - nolva blocks estrogen receptors in the brain and breast tissue area.

Nolva is also used to aid in hormone restart during PCT. It is what I normally use.

Yes OP, you are OK using Nolva only (no Clomid) during PCT.

why taking finasteride? there are anecdotal problems with it ("finasteride syndrome"). and in this case, we are talking huuuuge number of anecdotes. bald guys get laid, finasteride guys don't want to :-)

I know! Especially when you guys scream like that huge black dude on YouTube... BITCH I GOT A BALD HEAD. Pussy magnet every time

LOL.

A lot of it is attitude, anyway. (And muscles don't hurt).
And....... I have women who seek me out to this day, just to hear my voice. LOL
