Squats on Squats on Squats. Journey to 500lbs!

Dude mofos are crazy. I finished 80th or so at a big invitational with that time. That's why I quit. Wayyyyy better at swimming. But 100% serious, that's how small I was

Well now you squat a lot so it's all good...

Did it right.

I'm having culvers + donuts and seeing avengers tonight as well. How much more anabolic can a night be with a cheat + superheroes?

Forgot to mention I split a cannoli as well...

I wanna settle in the 170s soon. Then ya probably compete there (always been the goal just slowly chipping away).

Metabolism is humming right now and volume is high so have to feed to keep the progress moving (scale didn't move as much this week as I'd have liked).

He'd be a sloppy 10% BF lol.

Serious.........that is how I feel right now. Being really lean is like a drug, and I am detoxing. Still "ripped", but not as ripped and it screws with your mind. Getting stronger on pretty much everything though so its all good.

I may come post a ton of food pics soon because I've eaten my share of epicness lately (and I haven't been filming lifts so I don't have any of that to show ).

435 for a double. 415 moved so fast I was shocked and just went for it. Not the most technically perfect deadlift but my beltless max was close to this not long ago.

This was my treat after (shaved ice and ice cream):

Weight is right around 170...food has been a mess this month but training has gone great.

Inb4 4 weeks before I post again.

Pulling was still smooth brotherman.

Brb in four weeks for an update

DOH at that!!! Still using hook grip? That's just beast right there, well done

Ya always hook grip now. Thumbs feel rough at times, but it's not too bad anymore.

Ya life has been crazy this May and who knows if it'll slow down soon.

I'll say my grip and core strength increases have seemed to make my deadlifts so much easier. I thought my back was going to snap when I did 440 x 2 a ways back and today this felt kinda easy (relatively).

Please be careful with the power cleans. Thank you :D

That wasn't meant to go public. Hahahaha

Is it a sign rob comes back and I have real heavy squats tomorrow?

I think not!

I think not!

I saw it and was like "oh crap!" And flinched and everything lol

Kill it man

Ya I was uploading some of that and that one sucked hence the title haha

Sooooooooooooo its been awhile.

Updates:
Double Bodyweight Front Squat finally achieved:Invalid Link Removed

That is 345 which is pretty much literally double as I woke up at 172 today. So ya I've put a little bit of weight on since I've posted too. :D

Don't expect regular updates again though, but I'll be back eventually.

2x bw front squat and over 1x overhead press....nice work man. Impressive

Thanks!

I'll be maxing out my Push Press tomorrow, then should be hitting maxes on squat and deadlift sometime over the next two weeks as well. I'll admit I struggled on max double for Deadlifts on Sunday though, so I'll be pretty motivated to not let that happen again next time I deadlift heavy.

Cool. Go get it man. You still following RTS stuff? Iirc that was you that had the TRAC and loved RTS. What do you think about the recent adjustments he made to the back down sets, etc? I need to look back into learning how to program with RTS principles. I loved it when i ran the generalized intermediate program.

Mix match of stuff. I still love RTS and the concepts. Still read everything Mike writes and do my best to follow what new things he is coming up with. I've deviated because I wanted to do lots of stuff this year (just needed change), but still feel for straight powerlifting improvements the RTS team and their concepts are hard to top.

I probably should start using TRAC again, I did enjoy it, I just got lazy and stopped. :(

awesome front squat! once you straightened back up coming out of the hole it went right up. i bet you hit that weight for a double sooner than you think.

Front squat looked clean!

Thanks guys!

Forgot my phone at home today when I lifted, but hit a 215 push press. 225 was so close! Next time...

Need moar updates!

I squatted 345 for an easy 5 reps belt less and high bar, so that's something?

I feel I'm on the verge of some breaththroughs. Been doing a ton of work that would be considered building my base and strengthening weaknesses for awhile, but it's a long road and I'm not trying to only get caught in the moment. I plan to be squatting (and everything really) for a long time so I've decided to slow my roll and look at the big picture.

Oh and for more info about squats I hit 325 for 10 with some in the tank two weeks ago.

lol, i second that one

I've been hitting some weightlifting for fun too (I've been following along your journey with those as well).

i imagine you could probably work up to some pretty impressive lifts considering how strong your squat is versus your bodyweight

Getting decent at some. Here's a 245 clean triple from last week: Invalid Link Removed

Here's some squats today. I hit 355 x 5, I've had a nagging glute hip thingy so I've had to rework stance and some other stuff to get it fixed, but this is a decent high bar belt less amount for me: Invalid Link Removed

And the journey to 180 is moving well. This is roughly 10lbs up from last year and still pretty lean.

So yay updates.

Updates . Nice set of squats der man. And "pretty lean" he says...lol.

I've been unhealthily lean (only kinda joking).

But this is a year of RP diet following....brb nutrient timing isn't important at all they say...

Question is just who is they haha

haha nice, i'm pretty jelly at the moment. I managed to do a couple doubles at 235 for clean today but I also weigh about 30 to 40 more lbs than you do so that's not much of a comparison. I've read that an efficient lifter can clean 90% of their front squat so if i'm not mistaken you're probably capable of about 300lbs or so if you work up to it.

Ya technique is pretty much the giant limiter right now. I've hit 345 on front squats so there's still quite a gap for me.

well i'm of course not any real source of knowledge but if you're interested to hear my opinion: at that weight you had more than enough power, so much so that you might be pulling a little too hard/high. especially on the 3rd one it seemed like it crashed down on you into the rack which is always going to make it feel more difficult. the trick is to have just enough pulling power that the bar starts to descend at the exact height where your rack is so that it sits down on you soft and smooth.

Oh no doubt. My relationship with the bar is one of the hardest parts for me. I also have a tendency to rush my pull so I'm fine pulling too high for now. Thanks though!

Ps more nudes....here's me with a pump Invalid Link Removed

Way to maintain that low BF.

Thanks guys.

Nothing sexy in training lately. Did 90% of that 5rm from earlier this week (so I did 320) for 6 sets of 5 today. Felt really easy so that's a good sign.

I also rowed a 3k @9 rpe in 11:25. I doubt I'll ever be some great rower, but that's a nice little PR for me.

Weight is stuck at 170. I'm up at 175 pro 425 CHO and 120 fats for medium training days too. For days I train hard it's getting tough and for twice a day training it's pretty close to free for all at times.

Things have been moving in a decent positive direction.

Hit 375lbs for a triple on squats, but the big thing is there is no glute pain. Some low back tightness, but I widened my stance a tad and had zero issues with 6 sets of 3 at 335. This journey to 500 may take a while still....

I doubled 275 on cleans and hit a 205 snatch recently.

Then for the first time deadlifting heavy in a while I hit 435 for a triple (beltless). Big PR there.

And I can't seem to eat enough to gain weight. I'm literally downing 2 pints of ice cream a week as well and it still hasn't helped (cals are close to 4000 on certain days).

I have videos of all the above if anyone cares. Even though I know some of you have seen them.

i read a quote somewhere that said "to get better at snatch, you have to snatch. to get better at clean, you have to squat." lol. i haven't tried to do any maxes in a little bit, mostly sticking to dubs and trips but am hoping i can improve upon my snatch 1rm the next time i attempt it. you have such strong lifts you're capable of putting up more for snatch now i bet with some more technique work. i think i also read that a competitive lifters snatch vs c+j is about a 15 to 20% difference.

I'm a video fan as well

Sorry I'll get you guys some vids. I attempted a 3rm on dl today and hit 2 at 455. Probably could have grinded the third out but rushed it so didn't set the lats and figured it wasn't worth it.

I was exhausted today so I was pumped anyway and that's the best belted dl I've hit in comp so some progress there.
