Pinned last pin of 300 trest dec today. I’m actually excited to not be a human on cushion for a while (except for glutathione, I’m going to do an extensive health phase in a few weeks).

Yeah, he was former governor of Minnesota, and a Navy SEAL in the 60s…..now they are stuck with lying Tampon Tim that can’t even load a shotgun.
But back to your comp……can’t wait to see how you do. I still think you’re all over 450+ as long as your body is able to hold out.👍💪

Took this week off from work to get my back in as best shape for Saturday. Monday may be a little rough tho lol. But I’ll probably still be hyped and cracked out from the meet. It’s crazy afterward that night you lie in bed absolutely amped from the adrenaline and experience.

that is identical to where I kept researching when I had my back issues. I kept landing piriformis piriformis over and over because it so perfectly aligned with where the pain was and how it travelled.

Same. It’s what I always came back to when researching then my chiro confirmed it. Silly necessary muscle
 
Just weighed myself, still hovering 235-236. Gonna ask tomorrow if I can just go 110kg open. State record is currently 435 lbs.
 
Alright all in. Wasn’t able to switch to open so sub masters 110kg. Opener will be a state record then it’s all PR time after that
 
Don’t do anything that’s gonna make you puke or have diarrhea tomorrow, but benching is the most forgiving lift to load for - your bloat & stomach distention can be insane, and all you have to do is lay down on the bench. No bending over or even standing up.

So lean into the sodium man. Ramen, sushi, Chinese buffet, or just a bunch of soy sauce on rice if you’re keeping fats down. But always finish the night with a high fat meal for sheer calories, if possible.
 
Ha, with all this good food porn you’ve got me wanting to load up on calories too….if I keep going, I’m gonna be in the 242 lbs class and I’m not even competing in anything.🥴

Do it! I am starving today. My body knows what’s coming. Got all tingly at weigh ins. That new facility is the coolest gym I’ve ever seen

Try to give yourself time tomorrow to do whatever you need to prepare, stay hydrated (this means salt too), don’t rush, have some carbs in your belly, and believe in yourself entirely. You’ve got this! 💪

Some variables you can’t plan for. Warmups went swimmingly, opened at 424 and halfway up on the ascent my lower back spasmed and all of my tension collapsed. Spotters had to take it, scared the **** out of me. Took a minute to evaluate if I was capable of proceeding, wife even checked on me cuz it looked scary.
I am not a quitter so I went back out for same weight on second attempt and murdered it, textbook.
Called 200kg for final attempt, one millisecond before the start command someone yelled “let’s go brother!” And not even thinking I sent it. I knew as soon as I started I was early but still ran with it. It would have been a flawless lift except for my own undoing. It’s crazy how close to the start command and me actually starting were. I need fucking hearing aids lol.
Some days you’re the dog, some days you’re the hydrant. Definitely not my best representation of my ability but that’s the game.
Overall I had a blast! Screwed myself out of my 200kg but whatever. I had fun and hung with the homies. Me and another well-known fella (former KERN competitor) at 275 were taking the biggest benches of the day and it was cool benching with big dawgs.
Taking a little downtime to figure out this back junk then proceeding to proceed. There’s talks of a meet being held in Aug at Brian Shaw’s event, that will be insane! Massive venue. I may have to look in to that one…
 
Aside from the early launch, you still pressed 200kg. That’s impressive AND your back is trashed. You were no where near 100% and still did as well as you did. Something to be said about that for sure!!! Get that back sorted and it’s game over!!!

That’s still impressive brother, 440 lbs with a hurt back and in the heat of competition, impressive, in my book you got the 440 lbs. I know they only counted the 424 lbs, which is impressive too, but seeing you be able to push those weights while limited by the back, just shows you have way more in you. Congrats brother.💪🏆
 
Get that back healed up so you can hit the beach for that beach volleyball competition, and then come back stronger than ever for that Brian Shaw meet.💪😎🏆

Thanks brother! I will be honest, for a minute there I went a little dark on myself. Had to snap out of it as it was circumstance. I can really kick my own ass inside my head though. But I’m working on it lol
 
Hey man, still an impressive feat. Sorry to hear about the back spasming. That's definitely happened to me on deads before and one of my "fears".

For a PL meet, do you only get one attempt per weight? Don't they get like 3 attempts in olympic lifting? I've never been at a meet before, so don't know all the rules.

NOTHING you did made the lift any easier. You moved said load from A to B. You didn’t pooch your press command, no bounce press. You missed on a technicality. DO NOT beat yourself up. We all go to a dark place and can be our worst critic, myself included. Wife caught me calling myself a fat fawk and making “oink oink” 🐽 piggy sounds at myself in the mirror. Oddly she hasn’t brought home any anti-diet contraband since.

Focus on the accomplishment
 
Might not have been what a guy was hoping for but still a massive bench and not being a 100% that’s some big balls man! Hopefully you get that back issue figured out and can hit the next comp!

All in all congrats man got in there got it done and have the experience to build on 💪🏻
 
Great work getting back on the bench after that spasm; I’ve had my share of those on bench over the years when a disc gets pinched up & it’s a killer.

Still got a legit 424 on the books and a clean 440 gym lift to your name! Your mistake was only technical, the easiest thing to clean up and fix for your next comp - it’s a lot harder to get stronger or need to change something technically than just get used to commands.

This is only meet #2. This is what we talk about when we say the value of competitive experience - it’s different than the gym, way more conditions that you will learn to deal with as you do more comps. I am at a stage where I routinely beat guys at local meets who are stronger than me because I am a better, more experienced competitor. I just know how to prepare & perform optimally for my capabilities under a variety of situations.

Focus on all of the things you nailed: what you felt was most useful how you laid out your training peak, PEDs, supps, hydration, food. Learning how to listen to your body to adjust those things to land the plane optimally so you could be this damn strong on game day - even with a hurt disc!

First thing I did was send your summary and your IG video to my boy for inspiration. Dude fuckin 440lbs is insane!! Red flag or not you know any gym in the nation would plaster that lift up on their wall as a massive accomplishment to chase

Thanks Seg! So when you go in the day before to weigh in you declare your opening attempts for each lift category you are participating in. You cannot go up in weight until you hit your opener, don’t hit your opener in 3 attempts and you have bombed out. The lifts you want to choose after you hit your opener you tell the judge booth after each successful lift.
Ideally I wanted: 424, 440, 451
In reality I got: 0, 424, 0

Still a submaster state record I suppose so that’s cool

Sorry to hear about the back and the early start. Still, 200 Kilos is 200 Kilos and you hit that ****. That's legit.
