Hi guys, I'll try to make this short.
I'm 24 years old I also have Cystic Fibrosis - my lungs are pretty ****ty the one thing that keeps me going is working out and eating right. People w/ CF deal with constant infection so we spend a lot of calories on fueling our immune system's fire. I have a G-Tube aka Feeding tube. It goes right into the stomach. It is purely for supplemental nutrition so anything I put through it is still subject to stomach acid... However the option has been raised to me in the past that I could convert to what is called a J-Tube, which does into the intestines.. skipping the stomach acid bath. It occurred to me that this could be epic for getting the most of out supplements/amino acids (leucine et cetera...). The surgery has been done, I had it done in 2006 so all they do is extend the end of the tube that is already there.. same day procedure no cutting of anything. I can't really think of any down side to it and I am now realizing what it could potentially do for me. So if you were me (given doctors consent, which they have) would you do it? I have been really putting a lot of effort into gaining weight, in the last month I have gone from 91lbs to 105lbs maintaining the same bodyfat percentage so I know my body wants to grow but I am hitting a wall at 105. The most I have ever weighed is 120~ +/- 1-2lbs.
Thanks
Edit: I still eat my mouth during the day. I actually currently don't use the feeding tube and am gaining. This would be purely for my experiment to see if I could gain faster taking key supplements and bypassing the stomach. I realize I would potentially have to cut the doses significantly depending on what it was.
