Im just curious as to how much it typically costs to ship a 50lb order to Toronto. Also how much are customs charging at the border?

Not sure about the shipping charge bro, but customs will only charge you the GST and PST on the declared value of the order as displayed on the shipping slip. Depending on the shipping method, the courier will also charge you a brokerage fee, FedEx and UPS are very expensive ($30.00 and up) postal service I think is a flat rate of $5.00. You can however clear the package through customs yourself and save the brokerage fee. All you need to do is phone FedEx with your tracking number and have them hold it for you at the local depot, then you need to take the paperwork to a customs canada office and pay the taxes there. Bring the stamped paperwork back to FedEx and then they will release the package to you. I order a lot of automotive parts (and some supplements) from the US and I've done this dozens of times.

Hope that helps!

Hint: If the declared value is $20.00 or less they do not collect the taxes.

I received my 50lb order last week, it took just 1 week to arrive via UPS. I didn't get charged for any custom duties nor taxes what so ever

Don't be suprised if you get an invoice in the mail from UPS. That's what happened to me and why I clear my own packages now. It could take a couple of weeks.

Was the declared value $20.00 or under?

Keep us updated, if orders are getting through with no Canadian taxes I'm placing an order...

Well I hope not, I've never received any invoices from UPS, only from Fedex. When I had to pay duties for UPS packages, it would usualy be at the door. I did not check the declared value, I doubt they would put $20 though seeing it was quite a large box and customs would get suspicious. I'll update here though if I get any invoices over the next weeks.

I've ordered fom a different company through UPS. For 6lbs of product I got charged 30 dollars for shipping and another 30 for "customs fees". The shipping and customs ended up costing more than the product it self.

Thanks bro, I appreciate it. It would be great news if this method works to avoid the brokerage/taxes.

That its I'm ordering 50lbs of Whey blend on the 21 oct when I get payed.I will let you know about the taxes and duty when I get it.

Seeing you already bumped this thread up, wanted to add that I have not received any bills concerning taxes or duties. I think what UPS did, is that it calculated the taxes and duties and just added them up to my shipping price which was arround $45 US if I remember correctly.

But for 50 lbs, theres no other company in Canada that comes close to ATW's price. Plus their flavors taste awesome and its a company you can trust.

Dont forget to type LAURA and I will give an additional discount.....Happy Holidays, guys - some of us HAVE to work today!!!

I have ordered many times in the past to Toronto and other places in Ontario. All custom charges have been included in the price quoted to me by ATW. It was specifically included to elimnate surprises.

SO if I order from nutraplanet or say whey station and pay the duties ahead of time they will not open up my packaging?
Or would customs still have their way with my precious supplements?

Nutraplanet is a good company - My experience with UPS/Canada has been great, no fees, no extra charges........Let me know if i can help in any way
