Sesamin - Oil vs caps

Whacked

Well-known member
I've been taking 4 caps of Sesamin daily for years now. I think it's an excellent adjunct to any bb'ers arsenal as it helps to complete/round out the healthy fatty acids/dietary fats one should include for optinal health.

I think it blows CLA out of the water as CLA is surrounded with controversy. I also obviously include fish oil and EVOO and eat the crap out of almonds as well.

That said, I take a plethora of supps daily and I am getting burned out on all these caps. Is there a concentrated oil out there comparable to Scivations Sesamin?

I think their bulk oil might have actually been discontinued. Not positive of that though, message 1fast400 on here he could tell you.

Thanks

Anyone taste the oil?

The taste is no big deal. It is similar to flax seed oil, but in my opinion more pleasant and smoother. I am someone who does NOT like sesame flavor in general (seeds on bread, etc.), however the sesamin oil is fine for me. Slight nutty flavor and not as strong as the taste of flax. You should have no problem dosing with an oral syringe, then chasing it with water. I doubt the taste would bother anyone, unless you absolutely hate that "nutty" type of flavor.

Thanks, good to now! Doesn't sound to bad at all!

I believed I have used Scivation and Controlled Labs for the liquid. It's been a couple years. Using Scivation softgels now.

Thx!

Man I miss SesaThin... I actually liked the taste of it.. it has a light nutty flavor... it is too bad heating it broke down the lig's, as it would be great to cook with.

most companies discontinued the liquid for some reason. The bulk sesathin came in a pump bottle and was AWESOME. The flavor of sesamin is fine, like previous said its a little nutty. Primaforce/scivation offered bulk oil in the past but it came in a messier bottle and you had to use an oral syringe to dose it which gets even gunkier and gross.

I dont think any main brands carry liquid anymore, I looked. It was a lot cheaper. I also agree that for some reason I felt the sesathin was more effective than the other brands I've used - maybe I was just using more of it as it was cheaper in fluid than caps.

Dirt cheap/Quality brand (makers of Udo's Oil).....ordered ;)

Hi

Dont know if it is the same with what you need but in greece I use tahini which is sesame paste similar to peanut butter.
Very cheap and tasty.

That's not going to be nearly the same as Sesamin.

He's right - Sesame Oil is exactly that, oil from sesame seeds.

Sesamin oils/caps begin as sesame oil but have concentrated amounts of the actual active ingredient, sesamin.

You bought some healthy fat, but its not going to have enough Sesamin to give you the benefits you're looking for.

what's the differance between supplementing Sesamin and eating raw brazil nuts daily?

One is sesamin and one is a brazil nut

Like i posted above, you're not taking Sesamin for the sesame oil, you're looking for the specific sesamin lignan which I don't believe Brazil nuts have - but brazil nuts are high in selenium which is great for you so don't stop eating them.

oh damn I mistaken Sesamin for selenium, my fault.
