SERM half life and Tapering Off

I am just curious why so many people prescribe tapering off when stopping a SERM.

Both nolva and clomid have half lives around 6 days.

Is that not long enough for them to taper off naturally?

25/25/25/25 of clomid is perfectly fine in my opinion. Or 50/50/25/25 of clomid works too. No real need to do much tapering down with clomid.
