Sean's Powerlifting Journey

Pressing is coming along nicely, Sean.

Agree with Chris and Jared. If you could set up something like this heading into a power meet, you might haves bench you'd be happier with

Did some circus dumbell pressin yesterday. I suck at it.

Today:

Lower

Conventional Deadlift
135x10
225x6
315x3
405x1
455x1
505x8

Sumo Deadlift
505x10

Buffalo High-Bar 3-1-2 Tempo Squats
320x7x6

1 billion leg curls

Sumo sucked balls. Tied my rep PR. Stance was out a bit too much for my taste and had trouble getting my hips through. Good day still. No more AMRAPs for me for the next year.

I wish I took video of those squats. It was the most technically efficient bar path and ROM I think I've ever acquired, ala liftandswim and bolt10 style. Something about how much tension I was able to get and I shifted into my heels in the Oly shoes perfectly. Not sure if it would be a strong stance but it sure looked pretty.

Upper

Flat DB Press
95x5x8

Delt Raises
15x5x15-20

Incline Pec Fly
30x4x12-15

Wide Grip Seated Cable Row

Triangle Grip Lat Pulldown
100x5x12

Bi/Tri
7 sets each, 10-12 reps

Seated Dumbell Clean
15x3x15

jswain34 that revel stoke pecan went perfect with a splash of cream soda. The bottle only lasted for 4 drinks

Still haven't made it out to Binny's to look for it sadly. It's not that far but i don't usually go over that way.

And THAT'S how you make a mixed drink lol.

Coming from Mr. "Beer is gross"

Coming from Mr. "Beer is gross"

That's because it is.

But do you know what isn't?

Or McAllan 12 year scotch, but I don't have any of that handy. I also like the Tennessee Honey (Jack), Devil Cut (Jim Beam), and Regal Apple (Crown). Yellow spot is solid too, but they didn't have any at the store when I got the green spot.

I only drink whiskey. Everything else is ****ing gross, bruh.

I have bulleit too, which is OK. But there are better bourbons IMO.

Forgot to tell you the revel stoke pecan was the fuel for 639 in meet day! Unfortunately I only had enough for that attempt, most of it went down the night before between me and my handler.
jimbuick What do you like more than bulleitt? That's my favorite. Knob creek in close second. Jim Beam bourbon to save money if I'm at a bar.

Man, I havent made it too deep into the whiskey/scotch/bourbon realm yet. I'm a dark beer (stouts, porters, imperials, black IPAs, etc) guy for now. Im sure i'll venture further down the quality whiskey road in a few years.

I've always liked Woodford Reserve, haven't had the opportunity to try the Knob Creek but I hear good things.

There are quite a few high dollar bourbons that are supposed to be fantastic, but I'm not a huge bourbon guy. I typically prefer Irish/Scotch whiskeys.

I typically get the Jack Daniels Tennessee Honey at a bar (which is uncommon), it's good for the price. I don't like to go to bars unless i can get someone else to buy the drinks though lol.

Smith Machine Deadlift
Worked up to 490x3x6

Close-Stance Pause Squats
320x4x8

Single Leg Leg Press

Was alone in the gym so I had no one to load weight for each rep and I didn't have time to create a different setup recommended by NomZ

Good enough for a first day back. Need to get calories in me again.

Good stuff broham. Pressing doing well. Any theories on how this type of training has helped your pressing?
