Sean's Powerlifting Journey

following the word of one coach as the word of god isn't going to make you the best, unless that coach is god...

Top shelf stuff right here. I lol'd and nodded sagely in agreement at the same time.

It's all just attention mongering, just like JTS did with all of the anti Westside articles.

Taking shots at the bigger names in whatever specific area of fitness (PLing, Mobility, Crossfit, etc.) makes you more famous.

You catch peoples attention with stuff like "why Westside won't get you stronger" because people associate Westside to getting stronger, and are interested in anything pertaining to it.

It seems like it's JTS business model, take shots at the established members of the community so that you can get your name out there.

I think all other Internet stars do the same thing, make out landish claims to stay relevant.

I didn't see much hate in the JTA article I read, even at the end he admitted he still uses Kstar stuff and there's nothing wrong with knees out cue.

I don't think there is any hate in any of the articles, it's just a way to remain in the minds of the public.

I guess I don't see the big deal in either thought processes. I feel that it's effective for my squat and I honestly don't know any other way to squat.

Anyways. Was digging around in my closet and found my HD Blast shirt and my double ply briefs. I offered the shirt to Napalm. If he doesn't want it, then it's up for grabs. I'll most likely keep the briefs though. May use them my next heavy sumo day...or overload on my upcoming squat rep day.

What kind of briefs do you have, bud? Not interested in the briefs, just curious.

Inzer Double Ply Power Pants.

They suck. I like my Rheband briefs for the warmth it provides. By the time I'm done squatting, it's a swamp, but my hips feel great. The Inzer's don't provide near the amount of support that any good briefs would. That being said, they'll make good use for raw work.

I think anything called Power Pants is probably kinda ghetto, lol.

lol oh they are. I've worn the Predators (which sound badass) and they're great. The pull up high over the stomach so it feels like a suit with the straps down.

The Power Pants are lucky to cover my belly button haha Not so sure I'll wear them with my squats though. I haven't been in them in forever and don't feel like ****ing around with a new groove, though I'll make me focus on "sitting back" harder. They'll be easy to jump into for sumo pulls tho

I have the bigger knot in my right shoulder blade that's been there a few days and now developed one in my right glute med. Can't even get the lacrosse ball to stay on top of it. Any other ideas besides the rumble roller?

I'd give you a nice shot of saline into it, to take it out of spasm. First a shot to the bum. This is what I often resort to. I am fortunate to have a gal that doesn't mind shooting me, and she had really good technique.

Sounds like you are doing the right things to me, fwiw. Do you have a theracane? If not, worth considering. But if the ball isn't getting it, or the rocker, I dont know how much better the cane would be. Though it gives you a little more precision.

For the shoulders, try massaging the hell out of the upper traps, looking the opposite direction and pulling down so hard the skin feels like it's going to rip. There may be some referred stuff going on.

Eh I'm stuck with more primitive ways to heal myself instead of modern science lol

About how long should I try before I resort to a sports masseuse?

I never get shyte out of that. I'd find a good acupuncturist who works on athletes and pins deeply. A dry needle can also be very effective for both areas, if the practitioner knows the meridians well, and has worked on high-caliber, well-developed athletes.

And a slin pin with some saline ain't that modern, lol.

i had a crazy knot in the same spot and it no sh*t took about 3 weeks to get rid of. Just used rumble roller and lots of shoulder and back mobility exercises. Need daddy to drive across the state and dig an elbow into it for ya?

I avoid that side of the state. I'd rather just avoid this whole state

The issue is gettin it to stay on the knot

Theracane. You can beat the **** out of it. Scalding shower first, to make it more pliable. Sauna better yet.

I assume you put the ball in a sack, I mean sock, yeah?

No sock..I'll try that

Sock against the wall. Good control and more tacky. But none of them homo black knee highs ya'll wear.

What's the sock for? Does it give more traction or something?

Traction is what I needed to stay on it I think. Thanks bud. I used a sock when I used a softball on my TFL.

Balls to the wall in a sack, brah.

You see, I'm not just purty.

Sean do you own a bodo bar?

Nope! Looks similar to the Theracane. Perhaps it's time in invest into something like this.

Seriously dude, I love my Theracane, particularly because it matches my purple dumbbells. I think people right it off as this delicate tool, but you can torque the **** out of that thing, and the smaller BALLZ really help work the triggers, in a different manner. Plus it breaks down small and is easy to travel with.

Actually, I was too cheap to buy one years ago, so just got a 3 foot length of 3/8 cold rolled at Home Depot and just bent it into a "J" and put a knot of rubber tape on the end, I have used it ever since. It is good for digging into the scapula and knucking out the hips and glutes.

lol no biggie. If it doesn't go away after myself, or a massage, I may possibly consider that as a last resort. I know a lady that charges me half off though

Is that with the happy? And by lady you mean ... Lol.

Followed by Cressy's rotator cuff work. No more pain in the medial/anterior portion of the delt. The only pain/discomfort I'm experiencing now is right top of my right delt. Feels..blocked? Anyways, that's the first direct shoulder work I did in a while (the dumbells..) They were painless and noticed that my shoulder stability is much better.

Good session.

225 pendlay rows!! Dam dude, that's heavy shiz, nice work

Thanks bud. I think I've topped off at 300somethin for a double maybe. definetly my favorite back movement. Over 275 I show a bit more thoracic momentum. That drop set ****ing hurt though. Too much pump.

Good sesh, and pleased to hear about the shoulders, brother. Looks like that bench is inching up. Reintroducing the shoulder work helps mine, assuming proper recovery between. Though really heavy OHP leaves me sore all the time bc I am the gift of the vagi. Hope it helps yours.

Thanks brother. We'll see how they recover after today. I attempted 135 Incline Barbell and my shoulders gave me a big "Fuk You" so I went with some light weight overhead dumbells.
