Sean's Powerlifting Journey

Cube-Body Day

Warmup
Delt/Pec mash
Pullaparts
Forearm wall slide
T-Spine Lax mash w/ 45lb plate on chest

Incline Dumbell Press
75x8
80x8
85x8
90x8
95x8
100x7 (Caloric surplus is working..)

Half Kneeling Landmine Press
50x3x12

Dumbell Row Drop-set
*Counted 48 reps each arm, <5 second rest between weights*
150>145>140>135>130

*Threw up*

Barbell Rows
225x3x15

Rolling DB Tri Extension/Hammer Curl/Miniband 3D's
40x4x10/40x4x10/Mini x4x15

Cambered Bar Ab Rollouts
4x10

I picked up the 75's and didnt think I'd be able to do it. I've had horrible shoulder stability and mobility. I couldn't even incline barbell press 135 from my chest. It's been like that for a while. I surprised myself bigtime today. My shoulders haven't been able to handle anything over 85 in such a long time. Now, they feel incredible once I get them mobile.

**** those dumbell drop sets. John Meadows youtube videos look good until you do them.

Thanks gents. I feel like I'm on a roll this week. I'm assuming it's from the increased calories. Just have to keep eating..

Lol, there's one near where I buy meat. I just shake my head looking at the homos that 'work out' there...

I don't see anything wrong with it. To each their own really. If your just starting out and are intimidated by others, I could see why some would go.

If your a girl and just do cardio or something I guess it makes sense too.

If your just starting out you should be benching, squatting, and deadlifting. Not smith machine either.

If your intimidated by others you need to grow a pair because you won't get anywhere in life.

If your a girl, you shouldn't be doing cardio only.

Sup?

Son, I am disappoint

Never trust me to go grocery shopping, post workout, for homemade pizzas.

I ended up making 4 pizzas. Only one you could eat by holding the slice (my wife's-whom said "don't pile a buncha **** on it"

So I'm eating pretty much straight pizza toppings (lb of chicken, beef, pepperoni, veggies) barehanded in a big pile

Not everyone has the knowledge starting off, id go as far to say few do. I'm just glad people are going someplace to do some kind of workout. Eveyone takes their first step at some point.
Plus, people have different goals. Not everyone wants to be a powerlifter. My friend just likes to do some cardio and has just started doing some db work. At some point, hell need more weight and will move on, but he's fine with it now.

As far as girls, I don't give a **** what they do, if they look good I'm fine with it.

I agree with ya Smoker. I think it's good people are just wanting to be fit, and not everyone wants to grunt and drop weights. That's partially how I feel about crossfit...that it's motivating people to be fit (though in a stupid haphazardly way).

BUT...I don't agree with the lunk alarm and kicking people out. It's rude and embarrassing. Why should someone endure public embarrassment for accidently grunting when struggling with a weight. That's my beef with Planet Fitness. Would I be allowed to lift there? Nope.

It's kinda like crossfit. Someone I know has gotten into crossfit and he makes good points about it. He says there are bad rap for crossfit Bc of ****ty trainers and that stupid mentality some people have.

But he makes good points about it, and some stuff is cool. I think everyone can admit that

The alarm is ridiculous. I totally agree with that. One would think that the alarm would be more distracting and annoying then grunting too lol

<---doesn't get it, I don't understand the marketing. They're advertising to the low hanging fruit that will never achieve their goals.

Hate it...

Sean, Lily is judging a meet in Eaton, Ohio.

I agree w/ napalm. He is extremely old...and wise w/ towering test levels. There is something to be said about that.

Low hanging fruit are easier to grab off the tree and make money from. Planet fitness marketing is about making money, not making athletes/ fit, healthy people.

Almost every company is in it for the money. Every company needs/ wants to be in the black

A gym isn't necessary a company though. That's my point. Chain gyms are gona put money first. Small businesses are gona put customers first.

They still have to make a profit to survive. You can put customers first all you want. At the end of the day if you have 100% customer satisfaction but end up in the red, you won't be around long.

Sean, if you have quest cups left break them up in mint chocolate chip ice cream. It is ga lore eous!

I've seen very few businesses with 100% customer satisfaction fail. People pay to be treated well. I'm talking about priorities not complete disregard for business methods. And besides that look at many powerlifting, strongman, or other high end specialty/sport gyms etc out there. Proves my point. What I'm saying is big chains like planet fitness and the like have a business plan that will make the most money no matter what. They might want to help people work out and get fit but it's not their passion or first priority.

Those places are not fit for the masses, and I can gaurantee that those places you listed, their priority is making money. Of course smaller places place more emphasis on satisfaction Bc
1. They need customers
2. They charge a lot more
3. They don't draw in as many ppl as a chain would.

Money is always the priority. Of course there are great perks that come with the job like helping others and etc, but the bottom line is it's a business, and they need that profit

So today was the first day I have ever lifted with a Powerlifting team............man I am jealous of all you who do. :D

Ya dear diary in Sean's log. ;)

Gym team. I need stronger people like that...no one else in the gym ever lifts heavy to motivate me. :(

That's awesome dude! My gym change was a definite positive change for me. Week out now?

Reminds me of the scene in pumping iron with Louie. Noone even looks like they've touched a weight before at his gym.

Good luck, you're a 165 or something right?

Thanks guys. I am getting pretty hype. I'll be back to my lone-wolf lifting after this weekend though.

Nomz I could make that, but I don't want to worry about weight. Just gonna keep eating and growing (scale said I was 167lbs today though...so I am just assuming I'll be in the 181lbs).

Wrong. Their priority is what they love whether it be competing, training; etc. is money is your priority you are a piece of ****.

If you're that close 2 says before the meet then cut it. It's not hard especially of you can weight in the night before.

Looks like the internet started getting serious and pissed Lilly off again.
