Sean's Powerlifting Journey

Nope. If I put 100lbs on my squat this last year, then 2014 will hold a 700lb squat for me, even if it means a squat only meet.

Lofty goals. I'm looking forward to seeing how it all plays out. I've put 80 on mine this year (hopefully about 15-20 more by December), I'd be happy to put 50 on next year. Every pound gets harder as we go.

Yeah you're right, it'll be harder. I had the blessing of some noob gains in the beginning I think. I'm just gonna aim high for 700 regardless.

Strive for perfection but achieve excellence.

Congrats big man! The numbers keep moving in the right direction. Keep building the foundation to handle more weight.

How ya feeling today man? I am going to imagine you are in a food coma. :D

Didnt eat too much yesterday to be honest. I had a crap load of chicken parm and pasta for lunch today though!

Lumbar, lats, traps, and glutes are pretty damn sore!

Do some stretching tonight. A bodybuilding type upper session tomorrow night, PT test Wednesday, light lower Friday, Cube Boss next Monday.

Jumping right into it! I like it. Got a meet in mind?

Meh I didn't think about that. Doesn't seem like a lot of time actually

Yeah for March you could either hit up an offseason kind of thing and a Cube cycle, or two cube cycles.

There's never any time, man!

Que es "Cube Boss"? I'm way behind.

Brandon Lilly borrowed some principles from Dan Green.

It goes: Competition Movement at whatever %
Overload Movement at 5% higher
Underload Movement at 5% lower

For example:

Cube Boss Heavy Pulls
Floor 80% 2x5
Blocks 85% 1-3x2
Deficit 75% 4-6x2

And it works like that for all lifts.

Dans got a book coming out too.

Mark Bell will be showing a prototype of some sort of box set up for Deadlifts. Should be cool.

There's an RPS meet in RI in March. That's the earliest meet date that I'll entertain the idea of.

How close is that to you? I know I've mentioned a buddy who lives up near you and I am trying to find a meet that isn't too far for him to do some time in the spring next year that I can travel to and do as well (to motivate him to do it :D).

I need to see where in RI. It's a small ass state with only 2 worthwhile cities. Maybe 2-3 hours from me tops.

I really enjoyed RPS but I'm more willing to take a local meet. I haven't browsed around PLwatch yet. I'm about 20 minutes outside of Boston.

I'm going to have to search powerliftingwatch for some Mass. meets too...I really want this guy to compete and he loves 531 already.

Guess I'll try Cube Boss starting Novemeber.

Guessing you have the book already?

And if Dan Green has a training plan, I'm doing it. I want his squat.h
I don't think he does, I'll ask my friend, she's pretty close with him.

Ya I do.

Apparently there might be some 100% RAW meets around the Boston area, or so I heard from that girl I told you about lifting there.

Also posting just so I can receive updates to this thread again. Apparently me not checking after 20 pages of updates got me unsubbed to the thread. That or squat envy.

May or may not be a book but it is something

Says it's an ebook, pretty sure it's not out yet though.

Ya I see %100 RAW quite a bit on PLwatch around my area. I just need a few training cycles under my belt without wraps before I commit to that.

Definitely squat envy. Remember, 100% RAWWR is no knee wraps. Friggin commies. I want to see you walk out there naked and squat 550. And then tell them you do what you want.

EDIT: Thought Sean posted it. Toro, the suggestion still stands. You can set the weight as you please.

Reminds me of this bit of squat science:

He's so unreal. **** him. Look at how easy and deep that was. I saw his record squat live streaming at this year's worlds, frickin unreal. And he's 23.

It would be cool to break Chad Smith's RAW federation world 220 record of 628

That ain't happening lol

Yeah, **** that. So nice.

It's actually interesting that the largest representation of world record squats are held by people under 30. It seems that setting a world record squat begins at a young age, that your 20s is the right age to peak.

It's funny that gear is the exact opposite: most of them are set by older guys.

I thought it was just a high tech light system. No need for judges. It sense only red or white.

I heard of a new (to me) high tech light system the other day. Find out where depth is without weight, tie a string that length to your belt and tie a tennis ball to the string. I don't need to tell you the idea came from a Mountaineer.

Thanks breezy11

Unfortunetly it wasn't held at TPS. They just helped host it at the Everett Rec Center, I was hoping to check out TPS and see what it's all about. They did have a few coaches and Elite lifters there so that gym has some serious people.

That's too bad that you couldn't check it out. Yeah, I'd imagine that place would attract any serious lifter within a somewhat reasonable distance. If I'm ever in the area, I'll definitely stop in.
