Just wanted to let you guys know, i just finished the open water diving course and let me tell you this, its amazing down there, i didnt want to go up again it felt like i have travelled to a different planet, different atmosphere, colorfull creatures different gravity laws,

Its just amazing, i wish i could capture it on video so i can share it with everyone on this board or at least some snapshots.

i wonder if there is diving buddys on this board.

i went diving down in Jamaica on a resort dive (you become certified within the resort)

i felt the same way it was just amazing.
i went 3 times while we were down there and each time i was more surprized at how peaceful it seems!

same here i went for three dives to two different places, the first was a place called japanese garden ( the name tells you a lot ) and the second , to a ship reck. a really big cargo type of ship and it was old enough to have all kind of corals on it .

what diving certificate did you get ? Padi?

it was a resort dive, which mean i was certified with the resort only
i've been wanting to go and get certified but i just never seem to have time or anyone to go with.

i really didn't care for scuba diving .. not that it wasn't gorgeous, but i felt fairly claustrophobic .. kinda freaked me out ... but then again i'm a huge vag

PADI Master Diver Here

Yep, diving, one of my favorite things to do.

Mess, I tried to attach a photo to show others a bit what it's like (a coral wall off the Great Barrier Reef) but the file is too big. I'll fix it and post it later.

But in the mean time, diving can be a great way to cut bf. See this from last February.

I went off the deep end (mentally) this last winter and got ice certified. :ntome:

OK everyone, into the pool!

Took a college class in scuba diving and loved it. Being in the water feels so great, especially since I could sneek a peek at the cute girls in class wearing their swimsuit LOL. Only downside is the gear cost more then the class but the 3 trips off campus were awesome.

Only been once and that was in Dominican Republic it was beautiful to see all the fish n such but i'm with Glenihan i was gettin claustraphobic.

I lived on Guam for 3 years and snuck in over 200 dives while I was there. Also dove in the Med a few times (sucked) it's a lot of fun, Enjoy it!!

LoL, no I never took the time to do the class, I got a few certs but I was to busy diving to mess with all that. I haven't dove in about 12 years now, living in the Pacific really spoiled me and I didn't really get into lakes, etc so I gave it up.

Hey Grounded, that ice diving is friggin nuts!! (or is that raisins) you can keep that, I prefer some nice luke warm water.

Hahah..Reminds me of my open water class. Certified in 39 degree water with a 7mm farmer john. We used to run all our classes out of Dutch Springs in Allentown, PA.

I have been trained all the way up to dive master. I used to work in a shop repairing regs, inspecting tanks, etc... We used to run trips from Miami to Bimini every year diving all the usual spots. Those we're good times :)

Still have about 7k worth of gear still in storage.
Holy sh!t Admin 39 degrees would kill a Californian like me LOL. I was complaining about 50 degrees in Monterey Bay. 7K in gear means you must have had a lot of fun

I got certified a few years ago and have done some really cool dives but I agree, I don't think I could stand doing that ice diving. I can't even really stand wearing a normal wetsuit, so I'm a big fan of warm water dives.

I'm so oocupied, cant wait to do my second dive trip and this time it will be to Mauritius, before you drop your jaw its an iseland at the very end of Africa , just at the very bottom. and it should be a life time experience , thats what i heard.

I live in Milwaukee now and when I first moved here I rented a 7mm farmer john for my first Great Lakes dive. I started dropping the big dough for the best dry suit I could find after finding out what cold water is all about. Believe it or not the warmest dives I've had this year were my ice dives which clocked in at 38 degrees under the ice. I've had at least six this summer in Lake Michigan at thirty five degrees below the thermocline at eighty feet and deeper. Several weeks ago I had a Wednesday evening dive that came in at 62 degrees. I thought I was in the tropics.
