Safe painmeds when on cycle

Long story short, I'm going to be taking a road trip to my grandparents' house for Christmas. It's about a 18hr drive.

Bad news is my back can't often take more than an hour sitting down without being in pain from herniation.

I am making an appt with my orthopedist to hopefully score some meds so that I don't have to fly and or cry the entire time.

He usually gives me naproxen and tramadol, but I know naproxen is an NSAID so I think that wouldn't be such a good idea.

Any ideas for me? (Trauma1???)

one day of taking them wont do any damage man.. tramadol is better then naproxen in all respects. indomethacin is the best non narcotic nsaid ive used, and continue to use.

Hey bud.

Well, if you are going to take anything while on, it should be an NSAID. You will be able to get away with a day of taking an NSAID while on. It's chronic use that has any significant merit in this regard.

I would suggest Advil Gel-caps. Fantastic product. You should be able to get away with 600mg every 8 hours if needed that day. Dealing with a lumbar herniation is no easy task though, even when you are taking narcotics for pain relief.

In addition to the gel-caps, you should have some kind of padded seat cushion as well to absorb some of the stress to the area. I would also take frequent stops to get out and stretch in order to relieve some of that direct pressure.

If you do talk to your orthopedic doctor, suggest toradol or mobic as a means of analgesia to him. They are very effective NSAIDS, and would get the job done for the day.

Good luck rugger, i know it won't be easy regardless man.

I concur with trauma on this. Toradol and mobic are the shiznits. I carry mobic in combat. Also, correct me if i'm wrong trauma, but are not cox-2 inhibitors such as celebrex all though still an nsaid a bit easier on the liver? However, they can increase the risk of heart attack or stroke. Though that tends to be with prolonged use and regarding people who have heart disease or already at risk as well at twice the recommended dosages, but I couldn't personally say how that would stack up against being on cycle. I just don't know that much about cycles in regards to the heart. Your thoughts trauma?
