Snatch grip high pulls are the only exercise that gets my traps sore, love em. I've def noticed some trap development since implementing them.

Edit: and farmer carries. Fuark a shrug.

Keep it simple, dude. You don't need to be layering all this stuff on at this juncture. Focus on your core lifts. You don't need to be worrying about your upper traps. That's a point I have been trying to make, albeit unsuccessfully apparently. To be clear, I don't shrug at all, except to intimate that I don't know the answer to something, which, as you know by now, is rare, lol. ;)

Shrugs are inferior to SGHP'S IMO. I've started doing them 3 months ago, every week, and my traps still get sore every time. I'm finally getting some trap development. I needed it.

Edit: I agree with the jinx, focus on core lifts. I'm just tired of seeing my neck. I want it gone.

I stick to the 3 main lifts. It's not like I don't deadlift. On that day I'll do my sets, then shrugs and than hypers to end it. Starting next week I'll change some stuff up, but I'm not layering all these exercises into my routine. It's pretty basic for upper and lower

I believe in direct trap work as an assistance to Oly lifts (clean/snatch) because the shrug is a major portion of each of those lifts. I don't do it to build amazing traps, as I'm not really going for that, but it's an added benefit. I'm not saying that I shrug everyday, or that I plan on it either. Lilly's program calls for it, as well, so it's part of my routine now anyway. I know that there are plenty of other exercises that will develop the traps, but for me, shrugging is essential for Oly movements. I don't think you can go wrong with it, unless, as jinxie mentioned, your upper traps become overdeveloped. To each his own though.
 
Yes sir. Started it last week but I'm dedicating a day to OHP using the template so I guess I'm bastardizing it to a certain extent.

Hey man, nothing wrong with that. Lilly almost makes his 4th day a press day, in a way.

I personally wouldn't say anything but seriously, saying he's working hard so it makes bad form okay is wrong, which is what they sound like. Then again they are just basically saying screw you, so I get it and it's funny. hahaha.

Basically Mark Bell called out his bad form on a usual supertraining.tv deadlift thing and this giant thing on the youtubes started and it seems to have annoyed bell and Jim.
 
Yea I figured it out once I watched the dead vid from like a week ago. Still... I mean bell did say his form sucked and he was doing it wrong in the vid. So I don't see the issue now. I was under the impression that they were trying to excusing it at first.

Got my meet on Sunday. Just been doing mobility and practicing get my knee wrap timing down...my tiny wife is getting strong with it. Left some marks tonight lol.

Nope, believe it or not the wife is. We have been practicing the timing last couple nights.

Depending on your timing, I start wrapping when my lifter is on deck and the lifter before is just walking onto the platform.

I think it's really cool you 2 can share something that means so much to you. My missus lifts and is into Pilates and yoga, but she has her limits, though I finally have her squatting. She is however good for an ab pose down. I am finally catching her. I swear, she has an 8 pack, and a booty that'd be perfect for playing quarters off of, lol.

Definitely always remind myself to not take it for granted. I appreciate the kind words. And it sounds like you are doing pretty good yourself man lol.

Yeah, thanks. But we don't lift together at all. She gets all self conscious when being watched and directed/coached. You know, this work takes some thick skin. I continue to work on her though, focusing on the fact that I can make her routine much more efficient, something that resonates as she is a busy bee.

Anyhow, it's cool that your wife is going to be part of your competition experience. Go get 'em.

He man, one thing I learned is introduce everything super slow. I let her do her thing and then I'll say "why do you do that exercise?" or if she is like say, the bench, I will never give her more than one que a week. It's a finicky thing with wives lol. She just started deads and squats recently herself.
