Rob112^3...That means cubed guys. See what I did?

They were pretty cool. I wish they were a hair tighter though. I was at a weird measurement where I didn't fit exactly into one size.

Overall worth the less than 20 they cost.

I went with them tight. The ones I got were sized for 11-12" and my measurement was like twelve and three quarter. You know how I am, if my sh!t's gotta be tight.

Edit: Jim got it covered, as per usual.

Rob, my buddy says the same thing about using the slingshot. It really corrects his form. Maybe in warmups work up 10% over what you're going to do for your work sets and throw on the slingshot. You'll get some post activation potentiation and a little form correction before you start getting in your work sets.

Share the slingshot man. I wanna try.

I should fit in it now. Weigh 184 as of this morning. Put back those 4 pounds and added more. Seemed a little strange to me thou, think scale night be off

Neuromuscularly and mentally the initial pull off the floor is very similar and the differences in setup aren't that great, but I do tend to agree with you Jim. Explosive strength is still a great benefit though which is key in the pull. I don't think the clean should be a staple but it's something that can be worked in from time to time. Fast off the floor, tight PC, bar tight to body without rubbing, maintaining momentum, weight back on heels and force through the hips are all similar cues between the two.

Not really.

A true PC requires a lower hip position and usually is more akin to an oly squat than a DL from the floor. That's why oly lifters wear the raised heel shoes, the shins don't remain vertical and it's supposed to be all leg drive (again, like a squat) from the floor to the hips before hitting the second pull.

Yeah cleans are nothing like dead lifts to me.. Gotta start in front of the bar for cleans, deads you want to be behind the bar.

I like doing em every once in a while, very light though. Decent for upper back as said previously if you go heavy. Good for force production but don't think it caries over well to squats or deads.

So now a deadlift doesn't work your PC? Seriously Jim? And now you're talking about shoes... I'm not talking an oly clean here I'm talking single stage fluid power clean of the ground. I'm not even advocating the Clean, I clearly stated its not really a good accessory for anything and the only thing it has some carry over to is deadlift. You can argue with me all the hell I want but I have a good bit of experience with both lifts and numbers that back it up as well as education in the field. Seems like your a trying to argue for arguments sake here. What's your point?

I never said that at all. What are you even ranting about? I said a true PC (Power Clean) is not supposed to be a hip hinge like the DL, which is why oly lifters wear the raised heel, because it's more akin to an oly squat.

Edit: and I'm very happy that you have experience and whatever numbers you have. But, I have no idea what that has to do with anything. Why is there so much animosity in your reply when I don't agree with some of the things you post?

There's no animosity. I thought you were referring to posterior chain. Why is there animosity in your post when you disagreed with me? I agreed you in the first place and then you came back around on me man. I didn't mean to come off like that. Obviously we might feel differently about how it applies and it's obvious now we are talking about a strict oly lift and the powerlifting form so that's a major difference. My point is a power clean has more carry over to a dead than 99% of other exercises, but is certainly not the best. But if I wana build explosive strength and a strong upper back the clean isn't a bad option to rotate in. It's really not a big deal.

You are absolutely right about the clean not being a hip hinge but you can so a variant of the clean similar to the pull instead of doing a strict oly clean. We aren't oly lifters. And the biggest benefit I was trying to point out is the mental aspect of explosion and acceleration which is something important in all of the big 3, but you're coming from a similar position as the pull more so than the other two.

Interesting. I do feel like it forces me to grip and spread more than usual. I try to do this all reps, but I feel extra tight with it. Funny thing is I can't arch as hard with it.

I'll mess with it. I don't have a whole lot of time until the comp, but I'll screw around a little.

Funny thing is I can't arch as hard with it.

That's because it's pushing down on you. Your upper back has to work harder to resist it. If you think you can't arch hard with that, try a bench shirt. It's trying to push you through the bench into the floor. It's just a sign that your upper back needs to be stronger to resist the slingshot. When you've got that taken care of, you'll be benching more weight.

Interesting, and thanks for the advice.

Squated today, but a work energency so I'll upload videos from last two days tomorrow. PR'd with 305 for 5 on squat. Did some unracks and paused SSB.

Good updates tomorrow with videos of both days

Hell yeah buddy! Now we're talkin!

What a model employee. You copying my style? That's how I was when I worked with you. Good stuff brother

Congrats on pr broski. After the comp you gotta help me big time so I can at least do 3 lifts

All critiques are more than welcome. Even if you just want to say, Rob, you are a handsome sombish but stop ****ing around like dirty pirate hooker on that left arm...etc.

Hell of a day dude. PR's on PR's on PR's. We're all groovin now. I'm surely no authority on form, some other fellers will have better input.

Damn. Frickin smoked that last bench! You should totally consider slingshotting up with your last warmup, as well as that worked. What are you thinking for your attempts? Your squats look good. The wraps push you back into position veeeerry nicely. Just curious, where are your toes on squats?

Squats looked pretty great to me. Deep and good speed out of the hole while sticking the back and keeping the shins right under you.

Sure as ****. That last bench was money. Edit: your Fed allow the head raise?

Yea, wnpf no care. It helps me to kind of spring for leg drive because at the moment I seem to be too dumb to always get it lol

I am thinking about it now because after slingshotting it was easy. I don't get my muscles on bench. I don't know where to open. I will get a few attempts on 225 in this next 3 week micro. I honestly may go less than that to be safe since I am squatting right before and then jump by feel.

As for squats, I always start slightly angled, I mean slightly. Sometimes if I am right it goes to like 45 degrees, although I try not to. Attempts on that...well open at 315(ten lb meet pr), then...I'm not sure as I've never went heavier in the gym besides 350 with reverse bands.

I have to figure it out these coming weeks without blowing my wod in the gym. Gonna be tricky.

Lol I think im going to download it to my Ipod and listen to it tomorrow while working out cause somedays I feel like that when all the eye candy is walking around in yoga pants

I am in la la land! Sixers beat the heat for the first time since 2009!!!!!! MCW breaks rookie debut steal record with 9!! **** yea!!!!!!!

Back to your regularly scheduled weight lifting ;)

They are projected at like 15 wins all year, and haven't beat the heat since 09. They are the two time champions. AI was in the house for retirement, Barkly was in the house, the great doctor was in the house, classic Zumoff calling the game, place was rocking. Just as any real fan would, I am happy.

And trust me, I won't go potato like the eagles faithful and decide we are goat off of one game ;)

For the record I never hyped up the birds after game 1.
And I listened to 94.1 too bro lol yea if your a sixers fan it was a great night. Probably won't be much to be happy about this season so enjoy

Actually there will be if MCW plays half this good all year, our number 6 gets ready for next year, and we get a top 3 in the lottery.

I am okay with building a team from nothing. I like their direction. What I hate is lack luster trades clinging to some bull**** that will never happen(webber and brand trades).

The lottery is stupid... Just saying
I'm not a big basketball fan so I don't have much else to say. But I hope they become relevant again

It does suck. But every stupid rule in life if bc of stupid people. Otherwise teams purposely tank...

It should go by record. That's my thoughts.
I don't understand thou as a fan base how eveyone has no problem with sucking. Everyone on the radio is like who cares about this season?

That's a wasted year of basketball in your life but whatever.

What happened IIRC is Housten tanked two years in a row for number ones and got two championships with it. So Stern was like NA NA NA Housten, you dun di-it nao!

Sampson didn't live up to his college hype and was long gone from the league by the time Houston won their two titles. They did make it to the finals with the tandem once, though.

Proof they tanked on purpose?
The lottery is a bad idea. It can prevent bad teams from getting better faster. Where would the rays be without all those top picks? The bucs?

Ah good call. I could not remember the time frame very well.

Proof that you don't have stupid arguments for the sake of arguing?

We will reveal at the same time, deal?

I'm just saying unless they purposely sat healthy good players and played ****ty ones in place, I don't know how you could say a team tanked a whole season purpose.

And for two years in a row..
Hey it might have happened thou, I'm no big basketball fan so I don't even know what your referring to

How few top picks actually live up to expectations in baseball? Outside of Harper, Price, and Strasburg, have any from the past decade really lived up to their billing? You could throw Upton in there, but he's never been dominant.

Baseball is such a deep sport that the draft is only one of several ways to improve a team.

Well if your talking about the overall number 1 pick, not many. I believe Griffey will be the 1st number 1 overall pick to make hof.

But there have been a lot of 1st round picks that have become Stars in the MLB.
I just think sports like nba and nfl, the number 1 pick can make the most difference.

It's been speculated for decades that Pittsburgh tanked the season to get Lemieux in the '84 draft.

However, in the end, it comes down to the organization. How long has Oakland sucked despite having a plethora of top 10 picks for a decade? How futile of a franchise was Cincinnati for nearly 20 years despite always drafting high?

And if we're talking rays 1st round picks, you got longoria and price ( 2 stars), baldelli - great player but had a disorder and left baseball, Delmon young- good bat, and josh Hamilton is a star.

Yea some aren't a part of the team, but some solid players there. Not sure if anyone was number 1 overall thou

I can't defend billy beane. He makes crazy teases and moves which are puzzling. But hey Oakland has been to the playoffs a good anount since 2000.
Cincy I can't really speak for, I don't know evough about the organization moves and what not.

What I'm getting at is bad teams year after year, which are typically small market rely on pics. They're bad for so many years then piece together a team which can make a run for a few years and then pretty much start all over
