Hey guys, there are a few things in play that may impact our businesses over the next few months - it's actually may have been impacting business to some degree for some time (been doing the best I can).

Some may know, or remember I was partially paralyzed after breaking my neck snowboarding in Jan 2019. I had cervical reconstruction surgery in June of 2019 and was able to recover completely after the accident - I ended up with a mechanical replacement in my cervical spine...but, it took some time and the process wasn't exactly fun. But, I'd regained my life and was eventually able to, again, live it to its fullest.

There was an incident this last fall that exacerbated the old injury and I'd been unable to regain full use of my right side ever since. Essentially been partially paralyzed for about 8 months. It's been an up and down battle and I've been in and out of the hospital for imaging, tests, etc...and dealing with some of the other issues that have stemmed from the injury - like experiencing a heart attack like event that was caused by nerve compression at t1-t2...that was exciting.

The most concerning part about the imaging is the extent of the damage and how much it had spread, not just adjacent vertebra, but throughout my cervical and down into my thoracic spine. With severe foraminal stenosis from c3 pretty much all the way down to t2. This has left me pretty incapacitated and the nerve pain and other issues have been pretty extreme. the doctors have been really trying to identify what nerves are being impacted, rather than creating a treatment plan based off the (Ugly) imaging.

I've been working through this process with my original spinal surgeon (ortho), but as of last month, he excused himself from my care, as he didn't see a path forward within his skillset that would help me return my life back to normal. I've since been referred to a neurosurgeon who's going to oversee my care and plot the path forward.

I had my first meeting with the neurosurgeon yesterday and it seems like they may begin moving pretty quickly with surgery. This is both terrifying and exciting because I've been waiting for answers and a path forward for so many months! I go in for another MRI on Monday and then things can move pretty quickly from there. Depending on the new imaging they may move on surgery as soon as a couple weeks, or it could take a couple months, it's a matter of scheduling, and there may be more tests they want to execute before going in.

I'll be doing the best I can to prepare everything for whatever absence may be necessary. With luck, there will be little impact to the business and we can continue to offer the level of care and service I've always tried to meet...but, there may be some impact and I do ask for a little grace and patience. I've also tried to stay on top of things as much as I could throughout this process...but, it's been an extreme challenge. And I know there were some instances where I wasn't able to meet expectations ...for that, I'm sorry!

This isn't something I've really wanted to make public, but it's something I felt I needed the community to be aware of...especially if there's a long term impact.

It's been a pretty devastating time, and it's tested me in multiple ways and challenged me in my identity - from being jack reacher for halloween to not being able to open a jar or lift a gallon of milk almost overnight...it's amazing how quickly life changes, and sometimes it's more than humbling.

I'd like to thank @sns8778, Steve has been a true friend and been extremely supportive through this process

I will do the best I can to get the Ultra Three retail release done before anything changes, and hopefully it will be smooth sailing after surgery...fingers crossed! Will also do my best to make sure there's as little disruption to our product availability as possible during this time as well. But, again, I do hope for a little patience. As always, I'll truly be doing the best I can.

Praying for answers and a speedy recovery. Let me know if you need anything!!

Get well soon. I hope you are able to fully recover if possible, nerve damage is a tough one. Please worry more about your health than the product.

Sorry to hear about about the decline in health and all the health scares and concerns.

Wishing you nothing but the best and here is to a quick recovery.

Between you (@delsolrob) and @sns8778, you 2 are damn strong willed individuals. Myself and as well as others are appreciative of you guys and always here to support you.

Im so sorry to hear about your accident, I will be praying for you every day. I dont know if you believe in God, but if you do I encourage you to pray. For when 2 people agree together in prayer, God will be right there with them. And remember, if God is all you have, you have all you need.

Im so glad that there appears to be a way out. Hope can be rare to come by in situations like yours so im happy to hear that you have been given some.

Coming out and sharing this story inspired me, its been a tough couple of years with my health and its nice to know that even with people who are in much worse situations like you they can continue to find hope and carry on with their lives.

I wish you well with all the scans and surgeries! Im sure everything will go well, you seem to be in great hands. I hope you know everyone on anabolicminds is rooting for you!

Friends are so important in hard times and I thank God every day that he brought me my friends and im glad he brought you one aswell. I think everyone on Anabolicminds owes Steve a thank you.

We on AM will hold down the fort until your better.

Good luck!

I didn't know you were going through this.
I'm praying for you.

Good luck and sending prayers. Hopefully the recent setbacks are only a small bump in the road to full recovery

Prayers and hoping for a quick recovery!

Speaks of your character that no one has heard about this up until now and you've still been doing your best to push your new products out and keep the business running smoothly. True warrior!

Rooting for a speeding recovery now you've got some able surgeons onboard!

Best of luck with the process, appreciate everything you do with your company and products best in the business.. Been a fan since day one

So sorry to hear about your trauma, and the challenges since. Hopefully everything will go well and you can start to heal. Stay strong, and you are in my prayers.🙏

Wishing you all the best through your surgery and recovery. I’ve taken my share of lumps and injuries, but never anything to that degree. Sounds awful and I can’t imagine how difficult it has been. Really hope you can eventually get back to living as close to a pain free life as possible. Take care of yourself!

Sorry you are going through this crap but you got this! You will come out on the other side stronger for it.

Sorry to hear this and praying for a solution and skilled surgeon for a quick recovery. With a good neurosurgeon I believe you will have a path to recover to a great deal. I see patients make great recoveries C3-T2 all the time and have been in countless cases. If you have any questions please feel free to reach out. But I just wanted to give you hope to let you know I see tons of success stories with this

Prayers with you my friend. A speedy and safe recovery. Reach out if anything I can do for you

Thanks everyone! really appreciate the support.

getting ready for todays MRI and expecting to know when they want to do surgery this week.

The atrophy on the right side is so extreme and I'll be excited to start working towards regaining muscle tone - will start working on formulating my recovery plan...yes, it's still a ways out

I'm sorry for the delayed reply, I didn't get on over the weekend and logged on and saw the post.

I'm sorry that you've had to deal with everything that you have, but I'm thankful that you have finally got to the point of a surgeon that wants to help and move forward, I know that's both scary and exciting.

I'm always glad to help in any way that I can, whether it be on a business or personal level.

Rob, so sorry to read what you've been going through. I had no idea and we're friends on FB. I hope you get well soon and reach out if you ever need anything or just need someone to talk to.

what were the results of the MRI? do they have a clear treatment plan?

CT Scan with contrast - this was done after the initial MRI, they needed to get a better view - especially around the hardware I already have in my neck already.

Below is the initial MRI - before the CT Scan above - there are some inconsistencies between the two, and they didn't go down into the thoracic spine for this one.

There are some inconsistencies as far as how the imaging is read, but the surgeons worked through it all to evaluate where the critical issues are. we also went through months of testing and nerve studies to evaluate exactly what nerve roots are being effected. They did a diagnostic nerve block at C6 and a drastic improvement in nerve pain...I could finally sleep again! But, it only lasted 1 day :(

Because of the laundry list of issues, they didn't want to jump straight into fixing everything - we spent a lot of time trying to identify exactly what nerves are being impacted - to treat the issues and not the imaging.

Current plan is to do another replacement at C6-C7 and do a foraminotomy at C5-C6. There is no promise this will fix everything and we may have to see how recovery goes to see if we need to also do follow up treatments down the road. But, the surgeon is confident this will get me back to being functional for the near future.

Most likely, I'll need another round of surgery in the coming years...truly going to be a pain in the neck

No surgeries in the new future? That’s rough man.

If you’re dealing with chronic pain something that helped me is low dose naltrexone. It’s a opioid antagonist that when used at low doses is a potent pain reliever and anti inflammatory. It doesn’t come with any of the side effects nsaids do and can be used long term. Many people with ankylosing spondylitis and fibromyalgia find it life changing. I use it for my AS and it helps significantly with being able to sleep through the night and helps considerably with pain and inflammation. Talk to a doctor about it or you can go on the low dose naltrexone subreddit

I found this study that to my knowledge is the largest study ever done on pain perception, and it shows that ankylosing spondylitis flare ups are roughly as painful as unprepared childbirth, if it can help me through pain like that I hope it can help you.

I feel for your brother…. My wife had neck fusion and spinal surgery back in 2005 following an accident with a tractor trailer….Praying that the new plan is a success, and that you’re able to get some relief.🙏

So, I finally got surgery scheduled for August 4th last week

But, I got a notice from my provider Friday night that they want to send me out to a 3rd party to confirm surgery is necessary - seriously frustrating! if this delays things further, it'll be almost a year since this all started - really ready to get life back.

I have to call the 3rd party to schedule more tests - including an EMG...that's a miserable test of electrical conductivity - electric shocks for like 90 minutes while I'm flopping around on a table...painful experience, and the last time they had to put it at the highest shock setting because of my mass.

Sorry to hear, keep us updated and keep praying!

That's the issue now a days. You start with one doc, they send you to another and another and scheduling is backed up so it's a long delta between when you start to when you actually get help.

been away for a long minute, and just saw this. Holy **** my dude, I hate this for you. I know you dont know me, and I am nothing, but I have used and loved many of your products. I am really pulling for you man. I'm going to drop an order tonight for the hell of it in hopes it might help out in the tiniest way.

I’m sorry. Unfortunately, I’ve seen docs fight like hell to have to get people who truly need surgery approved. If you have questions about the surgery or the products being used please feel free to message me

Thank you! Meeting with my surgeon Tuesday to discuss.
