Reason for 6 days on, 1 day off protocols?

Why, specifically, is the 6 days on, 1 day off protocol recommended for Pink Magic and Prime?

Are there any scientific/researched reasons besides "resensitizing receptors" and "increasing the length of the cycle"?

Just curious...
