What is the speed of the Carb10 compared to HBCD? What are the major differences?
I see Marc uses it in his Carb10 Product.
Can you clarify speed? Do you mean speed of digestion or speed of stomach emptying?
the major differences is one is digested quickly and the other is more of a sustained release.
Both
I know HBCD has a very high digestion speed a reason why meadows uses it in intra MD
First use thoughts (1scoop):
Flavor- exactly like all the other usplabs fruit once flavors. Good, nothing spectacular, but solid. Something that could easily get boring fast, but also not something people will shy away from. Maybe a touch sweeter than some of the other usp fp's. Could just be my imagination.
Focus- nothing special to speak of here. Didn't even feel zoned in more than taking nothing.
Pumps- again, not impressed. Might have been very slightly better than nothing but still nothing crazy or anything I would race about. Had hoped for a bit more from the citmal and carbs
Energy- at one scoop the dose of caffeine is decent for me having just come off a stim break. As with the other things this was not crazy energy but did give me a little bit of a buzz to get me going. Just enough to notice really.
Endurance- this seemed to be the one area that I noticed a difference, however let me preface this by saying this was my first real gym session in almost a month as I've been stuck in hotel gyms and resistance bands only. That said, I was able to really crush a solid leg day and felt great the whole way through.
Overall- one scoop was just ok. Nothing I would race about or recommend at this point. Two scoops and continued dosing might make a difference tho so we will see.
Misc thoughts- for me, I'm not thrilled with the addition of carbs for a pre. I like to train fasted in the morning most times and this would break my IF style diet. Also, I don't feel that the price point is justified as the effects of just one scoop weren't very good and at $1/ serving for that little of impact (or $2/srv if double scooping is needed) this is not something I'd purchase. Although the formula has some upside, it's just not something that for the price:Impact ratio plus the lack of fit with my diet that I would recommend or purchase. If things change over the next few weeks I'll update, but as of now I'm not impressed or excited about this.
As always I appreciate the chance to trial this from usplabs and see what a unique formula can do. Hopefully the results will begin to show as things progress.
i think people use if for the fast gastric emptying for the fear of bloating. Digestion rate is and insulin response is about the same as maltodextrin or glucose.
No very many people should use 75grams of a fast digesting carbohydrate unless other "factors" are applied or unless it fits into your nutrition goals
Agree on last paragraph especially to those on the enhanced supplements or those training to be endurance athletes
For most general gym goers 75g may not be necessary unless they may wake up and train fasted where the carbs would en very beneficial for performance
General gym goer probably doesn't understand how many calories in 75grams…..
They are too busy trying to slam that protein shake after last set of curls in the squat rack bro![]()
I used two scoops. Just a quick review on my first time using. I'll go with Boonemans layout to keep it easy to follow.
Taste: I usually hate fruit punch favors. Many times they give me upset stomach. This was a lighter flavor that was quite pleasant. Taste isn't everything but I won't dread my next dosing.
Focus: Wasnt incredible but I definitely felt it slightly more than usual. Maybe this was due to extra motivation taking a new pre. But I honestly felt more focused than usual and it made my workout more enjoyable.
Pumps: I always get a pump as my workouts are pretty intense. That being said looking in the mirror I felt more full than usual. My chest was really popping. Considering the dosages at 2 scoops though if you don't have a pump something may be wrong.
Energy: Nothing incredible to note here. My caffeine intake is high anyways so I didn't expect much for energy even at 2 scoops.
Endurance: This was great. I did heavy barbell presses then managed to do heavy dumbbell inclines (I usually keep these lighter after benching heavy). Then went back to bench for heavy chest pauses. Then over to chain dips and heavy seated machine presses. I think this is where the product shined for me and did what it was supposed to do. All sets were heavy and I felt as if I could have continued if didn't have to get home.
Overall: This is a solid product.
I mirror the thoughts of Booneman as far as price point and servings. Would be nice to see a few more scoops in a container. But I do like the product a lot and it may get even better through the week. I'm still excited to use it again tomorrow and see if notice anything more. Again I really appreciate usplabs for letting me try this. I definitely think it does what it says at 2 scoops.
The true test for me is pick three big lifts put on weight that allow for your normal 6-8 reps, take ModernPre 30-60 minutes before, warm up properly and destroy those lifts. you should get 8-12 above the norm.
test the two biggest claims ever made on any preworkout to date.
1. "More reps" by attacking the big lifts getting more reps
2. the following day you test the "less soreness aspect of the product.
For me, and its probably not the majority of lifters, but if the Pre-workout does the above for me, that is primary too the "Level of Energy/Stim" it produces.
Well I can't comment on the less doms part as I haven't had "real" gym workouts for almost a month. The doms I have so far these last two days are crippling ha.

Yea, in retrospect not a very fair test for you and the product especially at 1 scoop.
the data was on 2 scoops in trained men. A long layoff probably doesn't qualify as "trained."
would be cool to get your opinion after a few weeks back to "real"..
Hit a new PR tonight on Incline Bench Press

Gotta get past the smediums first! Lol!![]()
Tough when you are a small ass ginger kid
hit 225 x 16 on incline bench at 173 pounds.
Squats will help with the small ass. Not sure what lift will help with the ginger part though.
Got mines today from the PO . Will post a review here at 2 scoops maybe 2.5 on empty stomach.

Hahaha.. I'm actually trying to get back to xl.. Hate paying for that extra X when I go shopping for new shirts
I used 1.5 scoops the last two days on fst-7 leg and chest days (this is week 5 for me). I normally like my PWOs with 200-300mg caffeine. So 1.5 seemed to be my sweet spot. As far as simulation goes, 1.5 scoops seemed to do the trick. It kicked in gradually over 30 minutes at which point I reached ideal stimulation. I will eventually be tempted to bump up the dosage to 1.75-2 scoops. There is a diminishing returns effect when I go over 300mg caffeine.
I am definitely experiencing increased focus. I can tell a PWO has good focus ingredients when I'm driving to the gym and my eyes just get locked in looking straight ahead. This starts to occur after about 15 minutes. It never wore off over my 65-75 minute workouts. So you could say I'm enjoying the focus aspect of ModernPRE+. For me the best nootropic/focus/euphoric experience from a PWO I've had was this summer when I went through a tub of Magnum Limitless - 10/10. ModernPRE+ is probably a 8/10.
Performance has been great the past two days. I continued to increase in weight/reps as I had been over that last few weeks. I must say that I have been taking Conqu3r DGE stacked with Modern Creatine and bulk BA. So ModernPRE+ is up against some stiff competition. I don't think it out performed Conqu3r. I wasn't getting multiple reps above where I thought I'd be on squat/deadlifts/bench. Conqu3r is an easy 10/10 with ModernPRE+ being 9/10.
Endurance is where ModernPRE+ has shined for me. For my exercises with 7 sets, I definitely felt myself busting out rep after rep and wanting to attack the weights like an animal. I've still felt relatively fresh at the end of my workouts going out on a high. Friday is a 75 minute arm/ab day for me. I may try to tack on 30 minutes of running to see how the endurance holds up.
Pumps so far have been average. Leg day wasn't a good gauge. My chest felt full today. But when I have an extreme pump, my triceps will blow up on chest day. I did not experience this. The best pump I've had was a combo of Metabolic E.S.P. and High Volume on an fst-7 arm day a couple weeks ago - sh!t got crazy. I'll post after Friday's workout if there's anything more to report on regarding pump.
So far I haven't recovered any better than normal. In my experiences there's no getting around being sore from an intense leg workout which I had yesterday. DOMS after two days can be worse than after the first day. I'll report back on this if need be.
Mixability fine. Taste fine - much like Modern BCAA+ fruit punch.
Overall, this is a very solid PWO, something I would consider putting into my rotation depending on the price point. At 1.5 scoops I'm still getting 6g CM which is a solid dose. I'd probably supplement with a little extra BA, Betaine, and Creatine. I don't have to have an extreme pump to enjoy my workout. What makes a kicka$$ workout for me is putting up more weight/reps and feeling like an animal doing it over an entire 60-90 minutes. ModernPRE+ is a winner here. I'd suspect if you enjoy 350mg caffeine, then 2 scoops would offer an even more killer workout but you're obviously going to go through the tub quicker.
Many thanks USPlabs! I know I'm going to enjoy going through this tub!
So after a solid week of training everyday with 2 days at 1 scoop and 4 days at 2 scoops here are my thoughts:
Taste- at two scoops you definitely can use more water (obvious). This is something I like as I like to drink a lot of water, however it could be a drawback for some. The flavor is strong and could get boring quickly as its nothing special and nearly identical to all the other fruit punch flavors.
Focus: at one scoop this was nothing special. Wouldn't even call it helpful. At two scoops I did feel slightly better. Not "in the zone" per se but definitely a bit more intensity to my workout. Maybe a better mind muscle connection would be a good way to describe it.
Pumps: with all the food eaten yesterday and the carbs in this I had hoped for more but honestly this is a complete disappointment for me. Almost zero difference between one and two scoops and barely anything even tangible to speak of.
Energy: as said before, one scoop was enough for a very mild buzz and a little jump. At two scoops this had a pretty solid punch to it. Nothing insane or off the wall but plenty to feel it hit you and get things moving. Going forward I would probably even dial it back to 1.5-1.75 scoops as I just didn't need this level of stim right now.
Endurance: I definitely felt a little better between one and two scoops but honestly not enough to justify cutting the total servings in half. Maybe one extra rep here and there but nothing crazy like 3-4 more or even every exercise an extra rep or two. Again a bit of a disappointment overall.
Recovery: I didn't touch on this until I had gotten a good amount of workouts in but after full week of lots of food and this on top o can say that I see zero benefit here. The first couple workouts I was sore simply from exercises I hadn't been able to do for awhile due to travel but at this point in the week and combined with the (more than) ample food amounts I am still feeling the drain of training for a day or two after. The doms aren't bad (I rarely get them except the first workout after a layoff) but the fatigue is apparent.
Overall: I had much higher hopes for this product and the potential based on the simple profile and ingredients. Combine the price point for a two scoop serving with the limited benefits and this is a no go for me. Not only does it not fit my diet style but the impact to cost ratio just isn't there. Sorry to say, but this will not be something I recommend or use again.
Thanks to usplabs for allowing me to give this a shot and as wel for taking a crack at a new angle for their pre. Unfortunately it's just not what I think many of us had hoped for.
Ups to usps for me. Took about 9 days.
what state?
MASSACHUSETTS
man, that's a long time for shipping. I need to look into that.
