Questions about nitrates

Ok so maybe someone can clear this up for me.
Nitrates are good for pump and vascularity.
Now my train of thought says that lunch meats (cold cuts) have nitrates as a preservative , but too much lunch meats have been shown to cause health issues due to nitrates.

Is there a difference between nitrate bonded to whatever (creatine, arginine, beta alanine) and the nitrates in lunch meat ?

Thanks. Sorry if this has been covered.

Think about this...vegetables have nitrates. They are not the same as found in your baloney.

Also...the Japanese have the highest nitrate intake on the planet along with the highest life expectancy on the planet.

Check out this link...not all nitrates are the same.

Great thread/question!

Muscular Development has had a couple great articles discussing Nitrates this past month, and about four months ago, and how to derive maximum content from nutritional intake.

Generally the nitrates found in veggies also contains anti-oxidants that lower the overall carnogenic potential, when taken alone or taken with meats that have been cooked then they may be a problem. Generally most of these nitrate products are also using Vitamin C which should help a bit.

Saw a few of em, def good articles!

Not sure if it's just the nitrates in a heavily processed food such as "lunch meat"
Naturally occurring nitrates would be different, and thats why you have nitrates in veggies.
Any good thing in massive amounts can become a bad thing.
Nitrates have their place and dose.

bear in mind also that from what i heard on shr the creatine is bonded to a nitrate, thus making it more soluble-1000x more from memory. so just taking nitrates and creatine wouldn't give the same results as the bonded creatine, at least this is my thinking on it.

heating of the nitrates used as a preservative catalyzes the formation of nitrous acid. Nitrous acid is the culprit when it comes to the negative publicity surrounding nitrates.

nitrate=no biggie, nitrite=problem
