Hi guys! I lowered the weight I lift on incline Dumbell but extended my range of motion! Is that the same as going heavier but having less range of motion! Is it good that I lowered my weight too try too climb back up with a greater range of motion or am I just setting myself back???

If before your range was incomplete than tes lower the weight 100%

Work up the weight using proper form and range

If your goal is functional muscle or sports than the range of motion may prove better as well

I think it's a great idea to lower the weight to get a full range of motion. This is a good idea for all your lifts. When I perform incline db presses, I bring the DB down to where the inside of the db touches my shoulder. I also bring the bb down to touch my chest on flat bench press. This is my opinion anyway :)

Essentially yes you are lifting less but you are putting the intended target muscle through the proper stretch and contraction. You may lift less initially but keep increasing the weight and focusing on form and you will open a new level of strength. Focus on getting back to where you were with a full range of motion. I bet when you do you will see some very positive changes. However if all you want is a big chest and it was working why stop till it doesn't. But if you are more concerned about true strength it's not a legit press until you touch it to your chest and press until elbows *******. No one considers that guy inclining 315 through a range of 3 inches to forehead level to be a beast. Lol
