Question For The IGF

TheMyth

RADIATE LOVER
How long does it take for light to destroy the IGF in a bottle? I ask this because my IGF came in a clear container and was exposed to light when I opened it, and will be exposed to light everytime I go to use it, unless I pin it in a non lit room, which would make pinning hard. Also, how long can it be left at room temperature before going bad? Thanks guys.

It isn't THAT fragile bro. I don't think light would destroy it very fast. But here are the facts on storage.

Storage of LR3 IGF-1
*Study conducted by Gropep
The stability of a liquid solution of LR3IGF-I was monitored for a period of two years at storage conditions of -20 C, +4 C, +22 C, and +37 C. The final concentration of LR3IGF-I was in acetic acid. At various time points, samples were taken and compared to a lyophilized control (stored at 4 C). Listed below are the stability results for each respective storage condition.

Storage Condition: -20 C (-4 F)
Biological Potency No Change up to 2 years
Immunological Activity No Change up to 2 years
Mobility of Protein No Change up to 2 years
Elution Profile by reversed phased HPLC No Change up to 2 years

Storage Condition: +4 C (39.2 F)
Biological Potency No Change up to 2 years
Immunological Activity No Change up to 2 years
Mobility of Protein No Change up to 2 years
Elution Profile by reversed phased HPLC No Change up to 2 years

Storage Condition: +22 C (71.6 F)
Biological Potency No Change up to 2 years
Immunological Activity No Change up to 2 years
Mobility of Protein No Change up to 2 years
Elution Profile by reversed phased HPLC No Change up to 2 years

Storage Condition: +37 C (98.6 F)
Biological Potency No Change up to 1 year
Immunological Activity No Change up to 1 year
Mobility of Protein No Change up to 1 year
Elution Profile by reversed phased HPLC No Change up to 1 year

All in all keep it refrigerated and there are no problems.

So really, it doesn't need to be sent in a cold pack and can sit at the post office for a few days and be alright. Thanks man.

Yeah pretty much. But just remember that the warmer something is, the greater the rate of reaction and energy in the solution. This means that the hotter it is, the easier it is for those protein chains to break during violent times like the postman throwing it around all over the place. That is why ice packs are used. But if it is just sitting there then yes it is fine at room temperature even though I keep mine refrigerated (paranoia I guess haha).

Don't sweat it though, it can sit at the post office and be okay.
