Quest for Success vol#2 - Pumpin to the Ahhhnold

Night night Chuck!

What did you buy to eat by the way?

grapefruit, lots of chicken breast, some veggies, etc.

I am going to loosely play with that idea. Not so much the timing or dosing really...but some of the food ideas and such.

I noticed you aren't doing any more barbell lifts. any reason for that?

haha nice catch. To be 100% honest, the room that I have all of my weight stuff is in a freakin mess and in order to even use it, i'd have to dedicate a half hour's worth of time that I just haven't had to cleaning.

I will be doing it today or tomorrow though for sure.

Let's get it going bud! I think some barbell work would be good for you. It should be a nice change of pace.

Chuck, how'd the situation with your sister's boyfriend go? i just want you to know that since it happened i've kept him in my prayers every night..

He is stable now and doing much better, thanks so much for asking. He is back out working now and he should be able to drive again soon also. I just wish my father was as lucky :worried:

January 22nd, 2009 - For the record

I took today off but I just wanted to make a small update anyway. I have planned out my "cheat" for this sunday (whole wheat pasta with lean meatballs and homemade marinara) and that is when I will train legs this week. I want to make my heavy carb meal for about 2 hours post workout time. I will try and clear out that room today so that I can actually work out with benches and bars again.

I am going to get some rest. My new boss is a beast of a character and my job will never be (as if it ever was) fun again.

Sorry to hear about the job, man. Are you going to be looking for anything different? I really don't even know what you do, but it seems to suck....Maybe the delicious meal you're making will cheer you up some!

Just remember the every 2-3 hours is a key part of it.

sorry about the job bud. I just would like to point out that you have been doing the same kb workouts for a while now. I'd like to see you switch it up a little and shock those muscles. I think the barbell will mix it up a little but maybe some new kb exercises or rep ranges? Just to keep your body guessing.

Get down here and train with me for a day. I could use the support and fun.

I am a manager in F+B and yes...it sucks, haha. However...that's only the job that makes me the most money at the time.

As i'd also like to point out to, i'm also a certified trainer...

oh yes I know. My last "cut" period I was eating every 2 hours on the dot haha.

If Ohio wasn't so freakin far I would definitely come train with you for a day.
I agree Ohio is pretty far.... Good thing State college isnt! :wave2:

What's up CTD, just checking in. Looking forward to your leg day. Take it outside and do BB Walking Lunges down the street. :)

I still have about 6 inches of snow covering my yard, or else I really would take it outside. I prefer working out in the great outdoors. The "gym" atmosphere gets so old to me.

Fiddle sticks...

Don't tell her I said this, but if you got a sled I'm sure by now the GF is pregnant enough to be heavy:) You could do authentic sled drags..lol!!!

I'd definately keep it more of a 'fun' thing (dragging the sled up 'the hill' with her on it) than to tell her that you want to pull the heavy sled for your workout. I can't believe that was your idea crader, lol. MEANIE!!!

hahaha that would be a fun conversation.

"Honey, can you go ahead and get in the sled? I kinda want to pull you around for a while."

And why is that?!

"Well, uhh...I thought that you should be treated like royalty for a day"

Then buy me an elephant or a Bentley to ride on

"I need a workout damnit, get in the friggen sled!"

Ohhhhhhhhhhh so now i'm FAT?

...This is where I am decapitated. :684:

Snicker!!! Well I'm all about helping Chuck out with his snow training..lol

All he needs are those tennis racquet-looking snow shoes and he'd be ready to go.

Mush..Chuck....Mush!!

I used to have a huskie, first night we brought it home (still a puppy), we had it tied to a cinder block in the kitchen. He totally dragged the cider block all the way upstairs.

January 23rd, 2009 - He tries to hang on

It has been a very trying few weeks now..and it just keeps coming. I'm having little breakdowns here and there but I haven't had one real big one yet. I feel it coming on...I just hope it's in a controlled form. Last night it surfaced shortly as rage. I demolished a sign in my little community area and a part of the fence by my house. No good.

By the time I got that side room cleaned I didn't have much time for a workout. I did something real fast just to get something in. I figured something is better than nothing.

Flat Barbell Bench Press
120lbs - 5 sets of 10 reps
Standing Barbell Curls
65lbs - 3 sets of 10 reps

Work was awful. This new boss doesn't feel that I get enough accomplished with my shift. He says by next friday he plans to have everything turned around...whether he has to get rid of our whole staff and management or not. Awesome.

{{{hugs}}} I wish there was something I could do. Too bad you don't live here, it would be easy to get a kettlebell career going. And you could work for me to fill in hours :(

Do we need to put a hit out on the F+B guy?

I really appreciate the thought of it at least.
Im no stranger to scrapping and clawing for what I want and need...but I was kind of hoping my kids were going to be a little comfortable the first few years.

I had planned on doing legs today but after only sleeping 3 hours from being awake about 20 hours...it just wasn't happening.

January 26, 2009 - To act it out...

I decided to take kind of a funny path today. Earlier on in the day I was playing some Wii Tennis at my girlfriend's house and it had struck me that I could play tennis tonight too if I really wanted. Not on court...with anyone..but at home. So I played a simulation match.

I moved the couches out of my way and I got my tennis shoes on and grabbed one of my racquets and I turned on Espn2 which was just beginning coverage of Roddick v. Djokovic. Whoever was on the near court, that's the points that i would play so I could actually see the ball well and make plays on the shots. It was awesome. The match lasted about 2.5 hours in total and I didn't miss a swing from the player on near court the entire time. Wasn't as taxing as regular tennis mind you....but I was still jumping into my serves (couldnt use the racquet on serves because the ceiling is kind of low) and I was really bending into my forehand and backhand shots. Definitely a fun alternative to a normal workout. So...

Tennis Simulation Match
2.5 hours

My diet wasn't 100% on today...but it may not be for a while. I have to really start watching my money which means not spending as much on organics and lean cuts of everything. I know that will take it's toll for a while....but I plan to double my efforts of each day. Next time instead of just the simulation I will add a yoga session after, or a weight workout in the morning. I AM still going to reach my goals....I WILL NOT lose sight of that.

Sounds like a fun way to get some exercise in! They had an advertisement just recently on teaching indoor tennis to women here and I thought of you.

haha well maybe you should take up some tennis?! You might find it to be a surprising yet more than welcome stress release. I really lose myself on court sometimes and just let all of my frusturations go for a few hours. It's really a nice feeling.

I would if I had more time, as it is my kids hate me because we do homework the minute they walk in the door. Then they get an hour to play and then its off to the gym, to eat and bed.

As suspected, I was called in to work today so they could release me of my duties. It wasn't because of poor performance though...it was actually a real ridiculous reason.

Nonetheless, I have twins coming and I don't have a home for them or now a job to have the money for a home for them. This year has not started very good for me.

I'm sorry to hear that man. It looks like I'm going to be out of a job at the end of this fiscal year as well. I can only imagine what it must feel like to have financial stress when your babies are coming in to this world. No matter what, you have to remind yourself to stay strong for them. I wish you the best of luck in your pursuit of financial stability. Keep your head up man, I know it's getting harder and harder. Just keep your children in your mind at all times.

I'm sorry, I know you did not like this job. So I hope that door closing leads you to a better job that you like with less stress!

After I got back from getting released from my company, I went to my girlfriends for a while and had Chinese food. Nothing like a cheat on top of a crappy day to begin with. Ugh.

When I got home, I re-arranged the livingroom so that I could bring all of my lifting equipment downstairs. I'm not 100% done yet...but i've moved a lot. I am going to be doing my workouts down there from now on since I won't have to worry about the weight falling through the ceiling. I will finish moving tonight and tomorrow....I will start the brutality on my body. I've said that multiple times before....but now with a TON of extra time to play with....it's on.

CTD that's awful man. Keep your head up though

Wooo WooooooO!!!!! Pain train!

Its nearing a stop in my living room now. Since this happened my sleep schedule us all effed up. I went to bed at like 8:30pm and now it's 2:30am and I sprung out of bed and couldn't sleep anymore. I will have to workout by like 8am today just to have the energy to get through it.

Thanks brother..and thanks to everyone that I didn't quote from above. Im sorry I didn't answer a little sooner...i've just been kind of annoyed about the whole situation. Not so much losing my job because that job sucked real bad.....but being fired. I've never been fired before in my life.
