Quest for Success vol#2 - Pumpin to the Ahhhnold

I am so sick of little injuries.

I have not been able to keep up with my conditioning because things have been so busy...and with each lifting session, I have suffered.

Today was going to be legs...until I hit my 5th set of squats and felt a sharp pain in my foot. When I got all the way back up to standing, the weight was really heavy on that foot and I had to put the bar down. Tried to do Rx positions after and it just wasn't happening.

Damnit!!!!!!

Tonight I may try and hit something else that doesn't involve that foot...I can't go inactive this much...it's killing me. *literally*

Were you able to put the work in this evening chief?

hoping to see you get some work done soon bud.
I just think of xmas as a good time to run a bulking diet. Im still eating left overs from thanksgiving then the xmas dinner left overs will take me well into the new year.
When 5-6 families get together for dinners, they make a ton of food and I always take all the left overs home with me. :D

No actually I ended up baking a cake for my girlfriend's daughter because she's just getting over being sick and she's in that stage where she's real cranky and stuff so I figure it'll snap her out of it.

It's in the shape of Abby Cadabby (sesame street). I'll take a pic before she eats it up today and post it I hope.

Oh trust me....I have quite enough "bulk" on me as it is. For the goals that I have for myself right now...gaining anymore weight is something I want to shy away from. I have always been more of an athlete than a lifter...and my strength, stamina, and speed need to be on a level playing field. Right now they're not.

:( Hang in there

Thanks bro. I'll be alright...i'm not even concerned. I iced all night last night and got a good 8 hours of sleep and I already feel a great deal better. One more day and i'll be good to go. I appreciate your concern :)

ps - Pulver got his arse whipped last night in like 20 seconds.

Awww you are such a good guy!

Maybe we should go onthe comp diet together..lol. I'm not sure I can afford someone to cook for me this time. But its the only way for me to get it done. I might try to get some things together this weekend since its my weekend with the kids.

Cooking isn't that hard...just time consuming. I know you have a lot to do with the kids and RPN so I can see where that would be a trouble spot. Have you ever thought of cooking in advance at the beginning of the week and re-frigerating or freezing your meals until you need them?

Yeah but remember the soap incident. Well the burners are clean but it melted inside the oven. Last time I made garlic bread smoke was pouring out and the bread had a weird taste. So I'm not sure toxicity wise..

I am determined to do it. Sadly when you have a lower amount of fat to take off the body wants to hang on to it. So I know diet and cardio must come in check. I have been trying to put up the Christmas tree for 3 weeks but with so much to do I run out of time.

I totally forgot about the soap incident, haha...oh man...that sucks!

It also sucks that just about every restaurant in the country puts things into their food that aren't suitable for most pets.

I didn't catch it. I will catch it tonight.

Not a full review or anything. Just wanted to focus on main points.

- Weighed in this morning at 224.3lbs, That is about 14lbs heavier than this summer. I am either gaining a lot of fat, a lot of muscle, or a lot of both. Either way...I don't like it. I know the winter is a good time to bulk and gain size...but I have such a complex because of being so overweight for so long, that I really just want to cut it up right now and then focus on size later. I will weigh each tuesday morning from here on out.

- Checked out a house today that SUCKED! It was smaller than most work shed's...like for real. I am speaking with a realtor now though that seems to be a nice lady and really concerned about our situation. I certainly hope she is. Lord knows i've had my fair share of the crappy ones.

- Got a chance to talk to "Millennium1" today for a while on the phone. We don't get that opportunity often so it was really nice. I'm looking forward to our next chat.

- No workout or micros today. Will start keeping track again tomorrow. Wanted to rest my leg one more day before another session.

- Here is the final edition of the cake. Before anyone laughs hysterically...please note that I was a Sous Chef...not a Pastry Chef :(. My dessert skills need fine tuning. However...the cake tasted delicious.

I hear ya man, as Tub Club founder  I too have issues bulking. I'm forcing myself to bulk but am constantly reminding myself that I can shed any excess off later. As for your quest to drop weight for March, I know you can do it broseph. We're here to keep you going.

That cake looks great to me, PM me a slice?

Tell Millennium 1 it would be great, if he found time to drop a few lines here at AM. I know he's sorting out a few things now, but it would be awesome to read a line or two from him again...

You can do the Arnold in fine style! You do need to know if you are going to compete in it though. to go on a contest diet to really shed fat for the Arnold will kill your strength. So in your case maybe start a contest like diet now and then go off it before the Arnold if you are doing the kettlebells.

I love the cake, you have a lucky wife to be!

I will definitely let him know as soon as I talk to him again. We all miss him on the boards...but i'm sure as you know...he has very many things going on right now consuming his time.

haha thank you Christine :)

yeah I was debating all of that myself as well. I don't necessarily want to "contest diet" i guess....but at the same time, I have to cut cals efficiently.

I have a feeling I was very low today (about to total it up), but it's only because I was literally scrubbing all day long today.

12/17/08 - Day 73

Overview :It was a long day for sure. Work was ridiculous since we have full restaurants to try and get fully cleaned within 1 shift and I had 5 callouts, leaving me with 4 workers and myself. I ruined my shirt and tie, and I didn't eat the entire shift. I was so rundown by the end that I didn't even want to eat...and all I got accomplished was some yoga.

My numbers are low....and my carbs are high. It's a pain to have to try and find things to snack on even after work. I need to go shopping solely to fill my girlfriends cabinets with things I can eat. I think i'll do that when i'm off on Saturday.

Im just going to have to watch my cal intake tomorrow. I have a habit of overeating the day after I go real low.

damn son, lot going on in the world of Deuce!

what's the scale at these days?

also, since stress is undoubtedly high right now...have you considered adding in Ashwagandha (stacks really well with Relora)?

I've forgotten... what are you doing for cardio? The GF wants me to get back into running/jogging, so I'm starting up with a simple 5 minutes prior to my real cardio session. 5 minutes when you're 270 is damn difficult :( it's a little upsetting to think that I was focusing so much on powerlifting and doing low-resistance cardio (i.e. bike) that I've let myself get so far out of shape. I can still play hockey for hours no problem, but the minute I step on the treadmill I suck.

I noticed you mentioned that you've gained some weight but are looking leaner, that's a good thing.... but I would still say that since you're doing this for health and appearance that leaner is better, I wouldn't worrying so much about putting on tons of muscle, I would first just do everything in my power to cut as much fat off as possible. Then once you see what your body truely looks like you can decide whether to put muscle on or not. One of the best looking (physique-wise) guys I've ever know was only 140lbs, but absolutely ripped to shreds 24/7, completely natural, he just made sure that no matter what he did at least an hour of cardio every day. Also ate like a monster because his metabolism was of the charts due to his activity level.

Well Deucester, you know what you have to do now. Gotta find the time to put in some more cardio. Even if you wake up 20 minutes earlier every day to have a 15 minute jog, you'll increase your results as well as your health.

No excuses, there is no such thing as "I don't have time" Make the time.

Just your healthy dose of tough love. :)

I totally agree with you 100% on what my goals should be right now. I haven't really been trying to add any weight period...whether it be muscle or not. I really honestly just want to get leaner right now.

My cardio has been mainly KB swings (try them before you say anything) in great excess...but i'm going to have to add more in. In speaking with a very very wise man, I have been advised to avoid running on concrete unless necessary for long bouts of time (structural leg issue i've had since I broke bones in my knee), so I maybe will have to find a field to do some sprints...or maybe when the roads aren't covered with snow and ice I will get back on the bike. I gotta get some more in somewhere.

Scale is in bad shape...I mentioned it a few posts ago. Right around 224lbs. During the summer I was at 210 or so. I've definitely got a lot of work coming to me.

I will check out Ashwagandha...thanks for the suggestion.

I can't argue...you're totally right! I could use a kick in the ass like that every now and then too.

How's it going CT?

Yeah I'm curious about the Relora myself. Its one of the few things out there that I actually feel I need.

It could just be placebo effect, but I feel like issues that I used to fly off the handle about...I don't really as much. I feel more calm and able to assess situations before getting annoyed.
LOL then I really need to try it. I thought it just helped with cortisol issues.

Hardly placebo. More like cortisol regulation. :)

I would think it would be better stacked with Napalm. Since LX is a cortisol reducer as well, I would think that having two cortisol reducing products is a little overkill.
Agreed, I have only used 6 OXO before and it shredded my joints. I know Kyle believes I should try Relora but I have never looked into it yet. I think maybe for contest dieting I might.

I just ordered another Relora as well as some Ashwaghanda (or however you spell it) to stack together. Threw in some more bcaa's as i'm running low.

I'm going to look and see if I can find this somewhere local. My stress is through the roof!

12/19/08 - Day 75

Overview :Another insane day today. I was able to slow down just long enough to get a workout in...but my day was all fast paced. Didn't help that we got about 8 inches or more of snow so I had to stay at work until relief came...and I was running around like crazy at work even though we were slow. When we're slow, they have us deep clean things. It's...fun.

My carbs were high today but i'm not sure I care. Mostly from natural sources like fruit and beans...so i'm not concerned. I needed them for the energy anyway. Like I said...I would trade today in a heartbeat, haha.

*** just a quick note :
My father was talking to me when I was eating after my workout and he said something to the effect of "you got some good muscle comin in there kid". He never compliments me really...and especially on that topic..so it was nice to hear.

Could the weight gain be attributed to your calories being too low for your body? 40g of fiber, nice!

I doubt it. Figuring out my TEE and my suggested intake, it's around 2600 for weight loss. I'm usually right around 2200 which is a good reduction for a cut....especially when I keep my macros in order. I guess it's a possibility though.
