Pyramid with weight change or rep change

Hi,
I'm trying to get nice muscle "separation" between my biceps/triceps and more muscle on my deltoids.

My trainer has given me a pyramid where I change the weights but I keep the number of reps:
Example: 8 (5 kg), 8 (3 kg), 8 (1 kg), 8 (3 kg), 8 (5 kg)

As having all those different weights in the gym is difficult, I was wondering what's the difference If I was doing a pyramid where I change the reps and keep the same weight.
Example: sets of 20, 15, 12, 10, 5, 8, 16 reps with 4 Kg

Thank you

First of all, I hope that isn't the weight you're actually lifting.

Secondly, you could certainly do a workout program where you use the same weight and either do multiple sets of the same number of reps or alter the reps, but it's going to have a different effect than changing the weight; the program he recommended, stack-10 (or stack-8 in your case) is a pretty good program that can be useful in hitting a lagging body part whereas you're going to get slightly different results with a different type of program.

That being said, in general if you focus on hitting heavy weight with intensity and your diet is in line you should see results.
