Purity of benzyl alcohol for injection solutions

Is there a huge advantage in going for 99,5% instead of 99% ?
No idea of the benzaldehyde content in the 99% variant.


My options are:

Benzyl alcohol 99% for synthesis
(Benzaldehyde not specified)

Benzyl alcohol 99,5%GR for analysis
(Benzaldehyde (GC) <= 0.1 %)


The price difference is huge as the latter comes in a 1 litre bottle.

There is not much research on bezaldehyde toxicity with cronic exposure but such a small amount seems triveal to me, And i thinks foods flavorings contain this and can have up to 5mg per severing, it is listed as a eye and skin irratant in larger enough amounts. so IMO if the 99% is giving you no problems i wouldn't waist the extra money. There are lots of people using 99% with no reported problems.... But I think benzene, toluene, or Benzaldehyde in too high amounts could be bad news if you got a very dirty of mislabled product.
