PumpHouses Juggernaut Log

Here's a video of me working commands back in. This is 2 plates each side on a bulldog bar. No idea what weight that comes out to. It's light though. Invalid Link Removed

So apparently that bulldog bar was 60 lbs. so thats 240#^. Moved pretty easily I'm expecting something big in 5 weeks in Korea. It's crunch time now though. Gonna kick some handi-capable ass.

CGBP

Incline bench
55 reps at 155 (3sets)

DB shoulder press
4x10x45's

Nice pressing pump house.

That's always great when you ins out you lifted more than you thought.

Yeah I feel kind of stupid because looking at it now it's very clearly bigger than the regular bars.

My training partner was so frustrated that his 205x5x5 was moving so slowly lol.

Yesterday's bench workout

Working sets
1x1@225
1x1@245
1x1@260

260 moved easily with slow commands. Going to give 275 a try next week and see where I'm at. Only 4 weeks out now.

3-board
2x2@300
1x1@315

Lat pulldowns
4x12

Tricep extensions
5x20

Thanks guys. I'm feeling good finally. Weight is holding steady at 188. The hotel in Korea does have a sauna so if needed I'll shed the last little bit off with that.

Deadlifted last night just to see where I'm at. Worked up to 335 and it moved pretty easily. Although it definitely felt rusty. Hopefully I'll bounce right back after this competition.

Going to do my bench assistance in a few hours.

Decided to do full power? I thought you contemplated bench only. Sorry if I missed something.

How many others are on the team? That's got to be an awesome experience.

No I'm still doing bench only. it been 10 weeks since I've deadlifted. The mood just struck me to pull so I did. And after this competition I think my plan is to do 12 weeks in a bench shirt and compete bench only but still train the other lifts raw. Then sort of decide what I want to do after that.

The U.S. Para powerlifting team is 5 of us I think. We do have a pretty phenomenal discuss thrower/shot putter who's going to break some crazy records. I believe they said the games would have over a thousand athletes total from thirty something countries. It's going to be a pretty crazy trip. It'll be televised on Korean TV so maybe I can find an online stream for you guys.

Had to get a my training in quickly between a couple clients.

Worked up and hit 3 triples at 245 close grip with the thinnest setting on the bench blokz. I don't think it's a one board technically. But somewhere between one and two.

Then I just banged out 50 reps with the ab roller and 200 reps of tri extensions with a band.

Today's benching

Bench with commands
3x3@135
2x3@165
2x1@195

Felt pretty good actually. 305 moved really quick with the slingshot I'm hoping to make it my 3rd attempt. We'll see. 3 weeks out.

Worked up to a Grindy 286# bench today. Good enough for a 2nd attempt I assume. Plan is still 268/286/303. 2 weeks out.

Here's a video of my last heavy bench before the comp

Invalid Link Removed

A super Grindy 290-ish.

Also went in and hit a 380 deadlift last night. So I'm hoping a 300 lb bench and a 400 lb deadlift is possible. Although I could care less about the deadlift I'm just glad that after 10 weeks of no leg work that I can still do something.

Nice benching man! If you look you will see that you just needed to go back to the rack when you get to that point, bc when you changed the direction it moved again nicely. Good work again man!

Thanks man. What do you mean though?

Like where it started to pause half way up it looked like it started to love once you pressed up and back...granted being a heavy weight you may have been doing that the whole time and that is just what it looked like lol

Oh yeah. It may have fallen out of the groove a little bit. But this is pretty much 100% of what I had in me lol. Definitely didn't intend to switch it up like that.

Leaving for korea in 2 days. I'll be competing a week from tomorrow. Going to be able to get one more workout in tonight so I'll hit my openers and some facepulls reverse hypers and maybe some high rep curls and that'll be all the heavy stuff I do before competition day. I'll probably do some light benches at the Olympic gym because how can you not.

Looking forward to the results!

Good luck, man! That's such a badass experience. You'll do incredible.

Today's workout

Farmers carries x 2 miles @ my luggage

Cab driver dropped me off 2 miles from my hotel lol. Apparently cab drivers don't speak or read 'Merican here. Seriously a very cool city I cannot wait to explore.

How did it go?

Well. I took a token squat. Fücked up my Tricep on my bench opener and still didn't place last lol. I opened with 270 on the bench and got it with a little struggle but by my second attempt my tricep had swollen up pretty good. Micro tear is what Scot said. Needless to say I missed my 2nd and third attempt. I shouldn't have even taken them. Either way I ended up 5th out of 12 on the bench press. The number I had planned for my third would've given me the win. I just did whatever for the deadlift. I don't even know the numbers, whatever my coach said. I hit the first two and missed the last.

It was an incredible experience though. Competing internationally is an entirely different game. Trying to bench when all I had eaten for 4 days was bulgogi was tough. The 20 hour flight and horrible accommodations at the team hotel I wasn't prepared for it. That being said it was one of the most incredible things I've been able to be a part of. I hung out with the russian, Korean, and Iranian teams and it was really cool to meet and talk to PowerLifters from all over the world. It was also cool exploring korea.

The next games are in Moscow in 4 years. I'll be ready to win it by then.

Did my first comp legal lift in a bench shirt yesterday. Hit 345 for 3 reps. Full range with commands. No effort at all to lock it out but struggled hard to touch. Scot gave me a shirt as a gift so I'm wearing a multi overkill shirt now. Might compete in a month. Not sure yet but it'll be multi bench only.

That number will be going up for sure.

Yeah. That's without any messing with the shirt. Scot said once he jacked the sleeves and yanked down the shirt I could get 500 easy. So that's the goal.

You're gonna beat me to a 500 comp bench, you sonofabitch!

Haha I doubt that. Scot likes to make all sorts of claims about his coaching ability. I don't doubt him but I imagine it'll take longer than he says lol.

That being said I'm doing tons of top end work on my second bench session. Lots of pin pressing and 3-board work.
