Pulsing and using Aromasin

The popular dogma seems to be if you are running an AI (aromasin in this case) and pulsing an oral, you should take the AI on the days you are not running your oral. According to a study on aromasin, that may not be the best way to do it.

For clarification, when you introduce synthetic androgens into the body, your body will begin to reduce its testosterone output (duh). What some do not know is that this is caused from a decrease in circulating follicle stimulating hormone and lutenizing hormone. So if we are pulsing, we want to keep test levels from dropping too low i.e. keep FSH and LH levels up. This study on aromasin shows when FSH and LH levels peaked.

"Serum LH and FSH concentrations were measured up to 24 h at the same time intervals as the exemestane samples for the PK analysis. The mean baseline levels of LH and FSH were 4.8 ± 2.2 and 1.3 ± 0.7 mIU/ml, respectively. The percent change from baseline up to 24 h is reported in Fig. 4. The LH levels initially decreased by 26% at 2 h; thereafter, there was a tendency for an increase to a maximum of 81% at 24 h. The levels of FSH were unchanged up to 12 h and increased by 49% at 24 h."

These were at doseages of 25mg a day and 50mg a day. 25mg actually showed more estradiol suppression than the 50mg dose indicating that amounts even smaller than 25 may also work. More studies need to be done to confirm this.

"At the time of maximal estradiol suppression, plasma testosterone levels were unchanged and thereafter tended to increase by 32% between 2–3 d; however, contrary to the significant increase in testosterone observed after 10-d daily dosing, this change did not achieve statistical significance after a single oral dose."

This may indicate that the body needs two to three days off of the synthetic androgen to reach a significant amount of testosterone increase i.e. don't pulse more than 3 days a week. This may also indicate that since we are not running aromasin daily (although you could) it could take longer for test production to increase.

We want FSH and LH to be stimulated when the oral is not in the system or at least in low concentration. If there is a large amount of androgen in the system, stimulation of these hormones may not occur or be reduced by a negative feedback mechanism. Knowing that it takes 24 hours to reach maximal FSH and LH stimulation, I propose the popular dogma be changed to running your AI on days when you are pulsing. It may even be better to use aromasin everyday when considering the testosterone fluctuations. This may or may not make a huge difference in maintaining testosterone production while pulsing, but it definitely won't hurt.
